What if hell from doom was really the dark world version of hyrule, but after the downfall timeline, the dark world became the normal world, and this made link reincarnate as a much grittier dark world form as well? This would be cool if it was actually true. But what if it is?
Theory: Ganon fused with Link in some twist of fate or dark ritual, creating an enraged and confused being in constant conflict with itself to be either a hero on a righteous conquest against evil or a power-hungry beast lusting for destruction: resulting instead in Doom Link, neither hero nor villain, on a righteous conquest of destruction. With no single figure to defeat and bring order to the world, Doom Link's rampages would end only when all creatures of evil were crushed by overwhelming force. The legend of the Hero of Time would fade as the people watched this new saviour rip and tear his foes apart, and with the cycle of rebirth corrupted by the fusion, time would simply move forward. Zelda would die, the world would grow, but Doom Link would remain constant. Rather than being reborn in time, he would simply put himself to rest in times of peace (or more likely, be sealed away by society to contain his endless rage). This explains Doom Link's new appearance, why there's no Zelda or Ganon in the future, and why he doesn't have the Master Sword anymore - there is only so much blood a supposed hero can spill before he is no longer worthy of that blade. I've heard good things about it, but I wouldn't have known enough to assume Trish was one of their characters; she must be pretty badass to be brought up in this list... and I'd say he could use some female hero descendants.
I wasn’t convinced when I originally watched this, however, after playing both of the new Doom games, and a current theory floating around that BotW 2 might feature the death of Zelda’s bloodline, causing Ganon to never be resurrected again, this theory might have some weight to it. Mars could have been the planet where Hyrule was located, as Hyrule has very similar constellations to Earth. The Hylians could be an alien race that fled Mars after Demise’s curse could no longer be fulfilled, causing the planet to die. Doomguy, with the Spirit of the Hero, returning to Mars could have been the catalyst that caused the Hell Dimension (the Sacred Realm, now completely corrupted by Ganon’s unable to resurrect soul), to open up after thousands of years of being unable to, due to the Spirit of the Hero not being present.
With his habit for eating hearts, Link does have experience of handling internal flesh on a regular basis. It wouldn't be too much of a leap to start tearing monsters open in search of those hearts.

He grows more and more corrupt off dark magic, eventually transforming into the Icon of Sin (note the vaguely bovine appearance of the skull). Bored with Hyrule, Ganondorf opens a portal to a new world, eager for bloodshed.
It has been 5 years since this video was posted, but to this day I still tell people that Link and Doomguy are the same person, and that Doom 2016 is my second favourite LoZ game. Thank you Oxtra for showing me the truth behind this one legendary franchise.
The Cyber Demon swore to weak havoc on BJ Blazkowitz's descendants in Wolfenstein RPG. Ganondorf swore to get revenge on Link's descendants in Legend of Zelda. (Ocarina of Time) The Crucible in DOOM looks eerily similar to Ganondorf's massive 2 handed Sword; having the same blade design and flared edges on the Sword's tip. That can't have been an accident...
Xion Toshiro well first off the doom slayer isn’t doomguy and the slayer isn’t even related to bj cuz the slayer is billions of years old and the events of doom 2016 take place in the 2100s. And the crucible and ganondorfs sword literally look nothing alike. Just cuz they both have a flared blade end doesn’t mean anything and the crucibles blade is more like a scythe than anything. Also one is made of metal and the other is made of an energy that is hotter than the surface of the sun.

With only playing 2016’s Doom, it can be seen that way, with references to the original series. But when played with its sequel Doom: Eternal, it is meant to link the original games (Doom 1 & 2, Doom 64) along with them. The Doom Slayer is really the same Doomguy from those earlier titles. He time traveled somehow after Doom 64 while remaining in Hell and happened upon the people of Argent D’Nur. Proving himself as a worthy warrior, they made him a Night Sentinel and fought Hell’s minions that followed him there and were successful to drive them out. While on a mission to close a Hell portal in their realm, the Night Sentinels were betrayed by the Night Sentinel Commander- Valen -of their own who lost his son battling the demons. The “Betrayer” did so for the promise that his dead son wouldn’t suffer in Hell and would be resurrected. However, Deag Grav of the Order of Deag, was corrupted and brought the son back only to turn him into the Icon of Sin. The Night Sentinels were stranded in Hell after the Hellgate closed. The demons set a trap for the Doom Slayer and entombed him in a cave, as they could not kill him and sealed him and the Praetor Suit away in stone. Millenniums pass until the UAC unearth him on Mars. Doom 2016 begins.

Where is your evidence? If you actually think about it, the cutscene in doom four when you put on the armor. In that cutscene you can see the crucibal(don't know how to spell it) which is the sword the demons are talking about. Also, Olivia can't be Zelda(mainly because two different companies) because one, Olivia is helping the demons to get something out of it and Zelda helps the protagonist, link in legend of Zelda.
Actually, there's no need to say the the blue armor in Doom is just a modified Zora's tunic just because all it does is give you a boost in defense. Link already has a tunic that looks the same, and does the same thing. In "A Link To The Past", Link picks up a blue tunic in the Ice Palace. Even if this is a joke, I really think this makes some sense. Ganon could simply be everything in Hell, as his power has evolved him into a dimension, rather than a single being. Doom Guy has also been said to be blessed by an angel to have holy powers. That angel could actually be another reincarnation of Zelda, with powers greatly evolved, like Ganon, if Ganon is truly Hell itself. Just sayin'

I'm convinced that Link uses telepathy to communicate. In Breath of the Wild you can talk to people and have dialogue options, sometimes link even talks with his hands. But when other people talk their lips move, Link's do not. Only logical conclusion is telepathy

Heh, I would rather say that the Soul Cube has more to do with the Master Sword than the BFG. The BFG is just an advanced human creation. The Soul Cube has more to deal with being a bane to divine enemies by just touching it. Kind of like how the Master Sword was brought out to be.

Theres a fan theory that Doom slayer is doom guy decades/centuries after trapping himself in hell during doom 2, and that doom 2016 is a branching timeline from the classic doom games, but thats just that, simply a fan theory. Plus it seems even more unlikely given the stuff about the night sentinels that seem to have a connection to doom slayer of some sort.
In 12 minutes, I went from "What craziness is this?" to "OH MY GOD HE'S RIGHT." Also, anyone who's been through Marine recruit training at Parris Island can tell you fresh- faced Link's transformation into grizzled Doomguy is entirely plausible.

If you watch the Doom movie and pay enough attention. You'll figure out that it's the main character John Grim. My evidence is the fact that he attacked his commanding officer. Killed the most demons (even using the signature chainsaw).
Its possible that one of the itterations of Zelda gave up her reincarnation in order to rid Ganon of his reincarnation. That is certainly something that she would do. Also it doesnt matter what the backstory of the doom guy is, whether he was a marine who punched a commanding officer or not. Link has had many different lives. In Ocarina of Time he lived in the Forest with the Kokiri. In Breath of the Wild he was the son of a famed knight whose duty it was to protect the royal family. Also it doesnt matter if they have different appearances. Link has been known to have different hair colors across incarnations. It could also be the he changed his hair style to match the era. All in all it is the spirit of the hero that rises time and time again to vanquish evil. Its not always Ganon, as can be seen in Minish Cap, Oracle of Ages and Seasons, Phantom Hourglass, Link between Worlds, and Links Awakening. All in all the inconsistencies can be explained with theory and fact.
This even makes sense in a way: if Doomguy (depending on the Doomguy) is Blaskowics' great-grandson, it just means the relevant incarnation of Link/Doomguy is related to BJ.
I think the problem with these "Is this character really this character?" theories is that people take them too seriously. Obviously they aren't true nor do the people who make them 100% believe them to be the case. They're just fun "what if" scenarios concocted from similarities and coincidences. That's all. No need to get all salty over 'em. And if they really bother you that much, then that's your problem. ;) (Yes, this applies to Game Theory's "Sans is Ness" theory, too.) Zelda and Ganon are dead and link has the entire triforce but when he used his first wish to banish the evil from Hyrule he discovered it had unintended consequences and accidentally brought upon the demonic cataclysm that turned all the enemies so hideous and deformed, well.... they aren't in Hyrule anymore. Having lost his sole purpose link sets out on his quest anew; destroy all the demon hellspawn he inadvertently created when he misused the ill-understood triforce wish granting powers and vows to never use them again.
Doesn't actually work, because Link, Zelda and Ganon(dorf) die and are reborn countless times to protect the cycle. No Ganondorf means Zelda can revert to being the Goddess and she can take Link with her. I feel honestly more sorry for Ganondorf who is cursed and corrupted by an evil master demon to attempt the whole overthrow of the Goddess. The cycle would end if that curse could be lifted or if either side could get the whole triforce.

Well in Link to the Past Link can travel between Hyrule and the Dark World which is a hell-like dimension similar to how Doomguy travels between Mars & Hell. Also I think Ganon became the Cyberdemon as it also comes back in each game.
Ganon can be the spider mastermind. And I'm pretty sure the doom guy can time travel as well. Evidence is in doom 3 you see a stone tablet of an ancient civilization depicting the doom slayer fighting off the demons long ago.
I like the theory that Hyrule was completely corrupted and turned into the Hell dimension from Doom. And Link's soul was transported to Doom's dimension and inhabited the body of a newborn human who would grow up, join the Marine Corps, and become 'Doomguy'/'Doom Slayer'. To avoid some plot holes, Doomguy has no memory of when his soul inhabited Link's body back in pre-corrupted Hyrule. That's why he never has flash backs of being Link and why his time as Link is never mentioned in any Doom games. Also: Doom 3 took place in a different universe than classic Doom, Doom II, Doom 64, Doom 2016 and Eternal. Doom 3 is a parallel universe and an alternate version of 'Doomguy'. This is not canon of course, but it's a commonly held theory by fans. Doom 3 is its own thing, completely separate from the overarching story presented in Doom, Doom II, Doom 64, Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal.
Okay, this theory is strangely believable. Just switch out the sword/shield/bow with an unhealthy amount of guns and the games are oddly familiar to each other. Games need better plots!

Meanwhile, in his absence, Hyrule turns to a horrific wasteland as Ganondorf continues pursuing power. He grows more and more corrupt off dark magic, eventually transforming into the Icon of Sin (note the vaguely bovine appearance of the skull). Bored with Hyrule, Ganondorf opens a portal to a new world, eager for bloodshed.

And the crucible and ganondorfs sword literally look nothing alike. Just cuz they both have a flared blade end doesn’t mean anything and the crucibles blade is more like a scythe than anything. Also one is made of metal and the other is made of an energy that is hotter than the surface of the sun.

Well now if you say it is a new timeline you are 100% wrong but you could still work a link theory in there too.
With only playing 2016’s Doom, it can be seen that way, with references to the original series.
But when played with its sequel Doom: Eternal, it is meant to link the original games (Doom 1 & 2, Doom 64) along with them.
The Doom Slayer is really the same Doomguy from those earlier titles. He time traveled somehow after Doom 64 while remaining in Hell and happened upon the people of Argent D’Nur.
Proving himself as a worthy warrior, they made him a Night Sentinel and fought Hell’s minions that followed him there and were successful to drive them out.
While on a mission to close a Hell portal in their realm, the Night Sentinels were betrayed by the Night Sentinel Commander- Valen -of their own who lost his son battling the demons. The “Betrayer” did so for the promise that his dead son wouldn’t suffer in Hell and would be resurrected. However, Deag Grav of the Order of Deag, was corrupted and brought the son back only to turn him into the Icon of Sin.
The Night Sentinels were stranded in Hell after the Hellgate closed. The demons set a trap for the Doom Slayer and entombed him in a cave, as they could not kill him and sealed him and the Praetor Suit away in stone. Millenniums pass until the UAC unearth him on Mars. Doom 2016 begins.

Where is your evidence? If you actually think about it, the cutscene in doom four when you put on the armor. In that cutscene you can see the crucibal(don't know how to spell it) which is the sword the demons are talking about. Also, Olivia can't be Zelda(mainly because two different companies) because one, Olivia is helping the demons to get something out of it and Zelda helps the protagonist, link in legend of Zelda.

Actually, there's no need to say the the blue armor in Doom is just a modified Zora's tunic just because all it does is give you a boost in defense. Link already has a tunic that looks the same, and does the same thing. In "A Link To The Past", Link picks up a blue tunic in the Ice Palace. Not only does this tunic look practically IDENTICAL to the armor in Doom, but what is its one and only function? IT DOUBLES YOUR DEFENSE! Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

Well yes and no. The revenant were demons captured from hell and experimented on. It's possible the original demon had wings which the UAC could've replaced with a jetpack

Its possible that one of the itterations of Zelda gave up her reincarnation in order to rid Ganon of his reincarnation. That is certainly something that she would do. Also it doesnt matter what the backstory of the doom guy is, whether he was a marine who punched a commanding officer or not. Link has had many different lives. In Ocarina of Time he lived in the Forest with the Kokiri. In Breath of the Wild he was the son of a famed knight whose duty it was to protect the royal family. Also it doesnt matter if they have different appearances. Link has been known to have different hair colors across incarnations. It could also be the he changed his hair style to match the era. All in all it is the spirit of the hero that rises time and time again to vanquish evil. Its not always Ganon, as can be seen in Minish Cap, Oracle of Ages and Seasons, Phantom Hourglass, Link between Worlds, and Links Awakening. All in all the inconsistencies can be explained with theory and fact.

I think the problem with these "Is this character really this character?" theories is that people take them too seriously. Obviously they aren't true nor do the people who make them 100% believe them to be the case. They're just fun "what if" scenarios concocted from similarities and coincidences. That's all. No need to get all salty over 'em. And if they really bother you that much, then that's your problem. ;)

Zelda and Ganon are dead and link has the entire triforce but when he used his first wish to banish the evil from Hyrule he discovered it had unintended consequences and accidentally brought upon the demonic cataclysm that turned all the enemies so hideous and deformed, well.... they aren't in Hyrule anymore. Having lost his sole purpose link sets out on his quest anew; destroy all the demon hellspawn he inadvertently created when he misused the ill-understood triforce wish granting powers and vows to never use them again.

Doesn't actually work, because Link, Zelda and Ganon(dorf) die and are reborn countless times to protect the cycle. No Ganondorf means Zelda can revert to being the Goddess and she can take Link with her.
I feel honestly more sorry for Ganondorf who is cursed and corrupted by an evil master demon to attempt the whole overthrow of the Goddess. The cycle would end if that curse could be lifted or if either side could get the whole triforce.

Well in Link to the Past Link can travel between Hyrule and the Dark World which is a hell-like dimension similar to how Doomguy travels between Mars & Hell. Also I think Ganon became the Cyberdemon as it also comes back in each game.

Ganon can be the spider mastermind. And I'm pretty sure the doom guy can time travel as well. Evidence is in doom 3 you see a stone tablet of an ancient civilization depicting the doom slayer fighting off the demons long ago.
But the only games with connecting stories are 1 and 2, 3 is a horror remake while 2016 is a detailed reboot
I like the theory that Hyrule was completely corrupted and turned into the Hell dimension from Doom. And Link's soul was transported to Doom's dimension and inhabited the body of a newborn human who would grow up, join the Marine Corps, and become 'Doomguy'/'Doom Slayer'. To avoid some plot holes, Doomguy has no memory of when his soul inhabited Link's body back in pre-corrupted Hyrule. That's why he never has flash backs of being Link and why his time as Link is never mentioned in any Doom games.
Also: Doom 3 took place in a different universe than classic Doom, Doom II, Doom 64, Doom 2016 and Eternal. Doom 3 is a parallel universe and an alternate version of 'Doomguy'. This is not canon of course, but it's a commonly held theory by fans. Doom 3 is its own thing, completely separate from the overarching story presented in Doom, Doom II, Doom 64, Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal.
