    I purchased this DC 14 brand new in 2005. It came with all the attachments too. I still have all of the attachments and manual all look brand new still. Still going strong after 15 yrs. my husband just replaced the clutch because it lost suction and now it’s like brand new! I’m going to keep using it until it dies on me!! I love my dyson!

      @@jamhuman2499, yes I still use it over 15 yrs now and swear I will not buy a new one until this one actually breaks down. They do t make them like they used to anymore. It is very easy to use. But it may be a bit heavy since it is an older model. Other than that the vacuum itself is not stiff to where you would have a hard time with your arthritis. Hope this helps!

    I've had several Dyson vacuums over the years including the DC14. My favorite was probably the DC07. I currently have a DC25 and a Ball Multi floor.

    I have a Dyson DC33 and a Dyson Ball Animal 2. I bought the DC33 brand new from WalMart in June 2017 and I bought the Ball Animal 2 brand new from Lowe’s in November 2017. They are good machines. They can’t deep clean carpets/rugs though.
    I have several Kirby vacuum cleaners and several Eureka/Sanitaire F&G vacuum cleaners in addition to the two Dysons. The Kirbys and Eureka/Sanitaire F&G machines blow the Dysons out of the water when it comes to deep cleaning carpets/rugs. The Dysons blow the Kirbys and Eureka/Sanitaire F&G machines out of the water when it comes to filtration and cleaning hard floors and above floor cleaning. I feel that my carpeting is truly clean when I use a Kirby or a Eureka/Sanitaire F&G machine.
    I have medium pile nylon plush carpet in my house. It was installed in 1988. It still looks and feels good! 😊

    I have the same unit with new hose. The smaller of the attachments does not receive the hose fitted but is supposed to click into place but have no idea how that works. I would think the floor attachment requires the extension rod, (who wants to kneel to floor with it attached to hose fitted to use the floor attachment?), but then again have no idea how that is attached either. Perhaps I need the vacuum's instruction manual.

    Have you measured the air flow at the hose? I measured it on mine and got 143 cfm! still low air flow at the cleaner head is not great for deep cleaning. But it might do well at the hose!

    • @VacLab
      @VacLab  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My DC14 scored 75 CFM at the hose with all filters in. I guarantee your DC14 didn't score 143 hose CFM. 😂

    Good day to you sir, nice Video, I rebuild these vacuums and can tell your vacuum is not quite up to snuff. (It can clean Deeper) I have modifications plus some other tips to make this a much better vacuum. cost about $10 or less. If interested let me know.

    • @VacLab
      @VacLab  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keith Millington care to share what your changes are? I'm not interested in hot-rodding it, I believe mine is working to factory specs. So what did you notice that isn't working right? BTW, I also rebuild all my vacs too and I have an airflow box to test the results.

    • @kmprnd31
      @kmprnd31 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not hot rod but needed tune up, Consider the floor head has a hose underneath, now look at it, spring in tube. would you believe that spring is supposed to force the head to the floor.New it does, old, not at all. So floor head is very light, and you will notice spring is not working, 'cause when vac is in parked position and leaned back front of brush roll holder will rise. your vac did not. every 2 or so years that spring will need attention. my permanent fix will by pass hose problem. Consider the very light brush roll holder how did Dyson fix this, easy put a motor in the floor head. Now you can't add a motor but you can add the weight to the top of the brush roll holder. 4 ounces to be exact, 4x1 ounce peel and stick automotive wheel weights. Now if the vac is a often used machine, the brush roll builds up garbage between end caps and brush roll putting strain on the belts. this means brush roll must be maintained yearly. Pulled out, pulled apart, cleaned and lubed. Dyson also sold filter pads instead of the hepa filter. If no allergies the pad will allow a more air flow improvement. Lastly the premotor filter holder (Yellow) is black and restrictive (should be white) Fix by putting yellow part in very hot soapy bleach water letting set for a couple of days, then force hot water through filter material to rinse. when done day light should be seen through the material maybe not white but very light grey. My Daily is the modified DC14 and it works very well.

      Keith, I examined the Internal Hose Assy. (904219-05) and performed experiments as to its ability to remain flush with both medium pile carpet and bare floors. If I attempt to simulate more rearward spring pressure, the vacuum becomes extremely hard to push. I am forced to conclude that the tilting soleplate assembly is performing as intended. I'm not sure what you saw in the video.
      I always perform complete reconditioning and maintenance on my machines when I acquire them. That includes a brush roll replacement or service where required. I have even measured the nozzle airflow with and without filters and I can report that (at least with my DC14) completely removing both filters, the airflow improvement is a paltry 3.7 CFM increase. Even though the yellow premotor filter holder appears discolored (black) the airflow is not significantly restricted (think around 1 CFM just for that piece).
      The fundamental problem with Dysons is extremely poor airflow. My airflow box gives nozzle readings as follows:
      DC14 = 59 CFM, DC25 = 57 CFM, DC65 = 52 CFM.
      Dysons simply cannot be made to deep clean (or quickly clean) like other machines I have in my collection that sport 120+ nozzle CFM. When Dyson (or any other bag-less technology) can achieve anywhere near 100+ nozzle CFM, let alone 120 CFM, I'll be the first one in line to grab one if only to test it thoroughly. Please search for my "flour under the carpet" tests to see how important high airflow actually is...
      Very interesting tweaks though! Wheel weights on the top of the brush roll holder... :)

      watching other videos of vacuum rebuilders for the DC07,14,33 most show the adjustment of the internal hose, (trick is to make it longer). If you take the 15 minutes to make the hose 1/4 turn longer top and bottom you will see what a new dc14 behaves like, by pushing the heel down on the floor head. If not that's OK, Best to you and your work.

    The biggest MISTAKE or oversight or LAZY decision in the history of vacuums HAS TO BE a spinning brush attachment that IS NOT POWERED, but instead relies on the force of the suction to spin the brush…. How difficult is it to ADD A CHEAP MOTOR PLUS A POWER CONNECTION off the main unit to make these things work CORRECTLY???
    I bought a Chinese knockoff cordless setup that had 5,00,000,0,0,0,0,0,0 positive reviews for $150 and EVEN THEY figured out to supply power and a motor to the mini spin brush “pet hair” attachment…
    Shame on DYSON.
