Hey everyone!! Wanted to make a video that we could easily teach you lightroom and get you going, or refer to from time to time as a quick refresher! Love you guys a ton and i honestly hope this helps anyone & everyone out there looking to get better at editing photos! I cant wait to see what you guys can do after this! Feel free to leave any future videos you want to see in the comments, and ill add em to the list!! Have a great sunday!!! - Sawyer
Hi Sawyer! Love your videos; your tutorials have taught me so much. I have a few questions; do you only edit your photos in Lightroom Classic? Is Lightroom Classic better than Lightroom CC or is it just a preference? Thank you for your taking the time to share your knowledge with us.
My Lightroom classic doesn't look like yours-my side panel doesn't have all of the options yours does. I joined the discord is there a better way to have you assist with this question? Or the community in general?! Thanks.
10:16 I don’t know if this was the same way in the older version or not, but camera calibration is also present in the current version of Lightroom cc named as “colour calibration”. Just wanted to point that out
Please keep making this a thing. I'm in desperate need of someone explaining things to me like I'm five, mostly because I don't have the confidence yet to try to do this on my own. This helps and I'm actually kind of happy with the results.
I have ADD tendencies so concentration for me is pretty difficult, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your videos. They're simple, clear and concise, the inflections in your tone, hand gestures, and pace of speech, along with your genuine enthusiasm to teach really keeps my attention and makes the tutorial easier to digest and retain. Thank you so much for your work!
Literallly paused half way just to type this. This was by far the best tutorial I have seen so far, the way you speak is so precise and clear. Your videos are so helpful, thank you for this free tutorial!
I want to thank you for making all these videos. You are one of the only photographers I can handle watching. No shade on other photographers making tutorials but you make it easy to understand.
This video was worth the watch for the tone curve advice alone. Thanks so much! I love that you explained everything without going on and on and on like some folks tend to do on here. new sub.
OMG I neverrrrr use Calibration. This is a game changer. Sawyer THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for this tutorial. It reduces my editing time significantly. Always had issue with color correcting. Now thanks to these tutorials (basics 1 & 2) I know a much better and proper way. Thank you!
New to Lightroom. Just went through all my graduation pictures I took 15 years ago with my first digital camera and saved so many of them + it was great practise, thanks so much.
I actually used the tutorial from the first basic video and my photo looked amazing. Your style of teaching is perfect for my learning. Thank you so much from a beginner working towards becoming a professional.
What you did with the greens blues and aquas is a technique I figured out myself as well. I Found it REALLY cleaned up images. Especially indoors where lighting can be... wild at times.
Hey i'm new to photography/videography. Im enjoying learning but also being humbled. Is the lightroom you spoke of still available? I have the adobe version and dont have the calibration option.
This was so great! Ive always been into photography and been using Lightroom for a while now but only used the basics, I could never work out how to use the rest to make it look good haha. I definitely learn by doing so it helped so much to have the photo to edit along with you. :) thanks Sawyer! Looking forward to the next one 😁
Bro what? I VERY recently finished the 1st tutorial video and now this one pops up? I'm confused and grateful at the same time lol Anyways thanks for the video bro! This helps us a lot!
Thank you. Some very practical and beneficial tips here I will now include in my edit process. I call these : easy to apply once someone shows you the how and why !
LOVE YOUR TEACHING STYLE...it's easy to understand and follow along; KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! ONE SUGGESTION: Add a little MOOD MUSIC music to your video! LOL :)
Sawyer..great ideas. But I keep returning to shooting as a weekend or three days photographer at the White House for 20 yrs. Shot film and still photos. My love was stills. Bought an old Leica.. since the press office would shout Lights..shut down everything. If they caught you shooting even one shot..took your press ID.. the White House ID was gold to us. Flew on Air Force one with it.. pentagon used it as the gold ticket etc. I tagged along with the Time Magazine shooter. No BS.. clean the lens..use the inside of your Tie..! Taught me quick lessons to save my butt. In film school I actually learned the basics daily. Shot for National Geograohic.. learn to color..do what you do..but faster! Worked. Enjoy your life ..I had two heart attacks few months ago..so I had to chill out fully. Jim Waters
Waiting fot your colour grading lesson. 😍 You've mention it will be in another video. And thanks for the first two Lightroom videos, using your advises. They are great.
I've been interested in photography for almost 10 years now and I've never known where to start in terms of taking it seriously, so thank you for this (:
I was literally following your first video of "LR Tutorial Basics 1" for past year , and now boom your second video is out. I learnt some new rule elements of editing from this video too. Keep it up for more photography and editing tips. Peace ✌🏼
Awesome tutorial! It’s great to see new editing techniques, and for someone who jumps into LR pretty infrequently, these little educational reminders go a long way 😄
It’s funny man I stumbled upon the luminance trick that you showed under the HGL a little bit ago and I use it a lot! ;) thanks for sharing I always look forward to you video man!
Loving the first tutorial. Can’t anyone advise if this a follow on from that ? Really helped me out producing my first edited photo. Handy video indeed
Question - why couldn't adjust the Kelvin before, to keep the true color ? Thank you - Looking forward to your reply :) P. S. thank Your for your info, it's helping me greatly in editing, cause it's my weak area
Hey Sawyer awesome vids man, really learnt a lot from your Lightroom Basics vids! Noticed all your Camera Calibration/Skin Tone tutorials are for light skin. Do the same principles apply when the subject has a dark skin tone?
In my opinion, I would say his tutorials especially skin tone apply to all folks,,,no matter the race, all skin tone have red in them. I use to have the same question, but kept seing that red is everywhere. Dark skin absorb light so if you take the same exact photo for a dark and then a light skin person and you apply those edits. The photo with the dark skin subject would probably need more exposure on their skin because dark skin absorb light, while light skin reflect it.
which lightroom edition are you using sawyer?.....coz i couldn't get that last part like cropping and selecting a person to improve her brightness and her eye tone. i totally get different and i could not do it
I generally edit ARW files in lightroom . Many youtuber talks about boosting contrast in the shadow. What does they mean? How to boost contrast in the shadow? Which slider they talk about?
Great information. Love your tutorials. Did you know ROY G BIV actually means red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet for the order of colors in the rainbow as opposed to red green blue? 😉
Is it possible for you to do an updated video of your Lightroom basics video? I’m new to Lightroom and it seems that since you made that video the layout of Lightroom has slightly changed and I’m a bit confused 😭😭

Would love to see upgrade with point color (new in Lr) and with a landscape. Great tutorial!!

thank you for this tutorial. Question: does the photo need to be on a RAW file or we can do this even with JPEG? thanks
Do you not need to do some masking when you edit those greens and blues in the towels as it can affect the green on the robe? Thanks for answering 🙂
