I think that Bird and Miller would excel in today's NBA. Those two guys were so versatile that they could adapt to any opponent and do it quickly. All you need to do is watch old videos of playoff games to see what happens when the game is on the line. Bird would have no problem in today's NBA. Reggie would make people realize that Steph Curry hasn't changed the game, he's just a continuation of great 3point shooting.
The games changed. Everyone so concerned with who's the GOAT, they forget they are playing a team sport. Working as a team will always win out over five individuals, and Bird was a team player.

Bird would still be a top player in the league today. Maybe 25 ppg, 15 boards, 10 assists... which isn't bad since he's almost 70? In his prime, double that
bird dominated in an era where people played physical hard nosed basketball, it was a highly physical game. in today's no d league he would just destroy everyone.
Well, for one thing, Rick Mahorn, Bill Laimbeer and Dennis Rodman would have LeBron James curled up in a fetal position and sucking his thumb by halftime. Three of the Baddest of the Bad Boy Pistons vs. the softest and most fragile "superstar" in the history of any of the 4 major North American sports? It would be nice to see.
The "superstars" of this era wouldn't get off the bench. They wouldn't be able to get their own shot with the defense played back then, they wouldn't be able to play defense, and they'd be called for travelling at least 8x a game because in Bird's era, there was no Euro-step and a gathering step in addition to the 2 steps allowed to take once the ball is no longer being dribbled. It was more Iike: 1. Pick up ball, 2. Take one step with either foot, pivot on foot that didn't move 3. Pass or shoot.
I used to watch a lot of NBA back in Bird's day, no question he'd dominate today's game. I pretty much only watch NCAA basketball now... a lot more team play, a lot less showboating. More than half of them will never play pro ball, and of those that do, most will end up in the G league or overseas, not the NBA... Meaning most of the kids playing in the college game are just playing because they love the game.
Todays game was MADE for both Larry Legend and Reggie. Think about how they both could get open DESPITE tough defenses - then factor in today's rules that let them take more steps without dribbling. NO HAND CHECKS, and all of the other pro-Offensive Player rules (the zone defense would not be a factor, both EASILY have the range to shoot outside of it).
Thing is it feels like he shot 55% ole larry. He would like patrick ewing said... demolish you.... what a killer he was a top 5 player of all time. Lawrence bird.
Larry went to the orthopedic doctor after experiencing pain in his knee, the doctor immediately recommended knee replacement and cled his assistant to bring in the saw and hammer. But doctor said Larry how will I control the movement of my knee, given all the tendons ligaments etc. The replied, stop wasting my time, I've performed thousands of these knee replacements and no one has ever complained. Yea said Larry they couldn't make it back to your office. Just then at that very moment, Larry heard the pull of an electric saw and the sound of someone screaming. The doctor immediately said that is the patient. So Larry said hurry up and let's get this done.
Id say Bird would be a LETHAL 3 Point Shooter, if in todays game you really cant put hands on the player he would eat, and also be a menace with the assists maybe not so much on Defence but a SOLID player with a 24 point average and 6 Assists per game with at least 5 rebounds a game imo
Larry would totally rule the game, he’d do whatever he wanted offensively as NBA lacks in talent defensivelyand teams aren’t defenseively minded( so can you imagine how he would rule -points, rebounds,assists-You name it! Reggie was never as skilled as Bird but he too would be a top 5-8 player, if not higher!
This is how you become the GOAT. You SILENCE trash talkers and hecklers. You DO NOT go running to the refs and cry to have them ejected from the arena, like LeBronda does, because some fans hurt her fee fees.
Let’s think about it. How would Bird do in todays game. Larry lead the league in 3pt conversions I believe for 3 years. Todays game is all about the ability to make the three point shot. Bird would dominate. Larry would be the first person down the court to make the dunk, to pull up and take his killer Step Back shot right in the face of a defender. Many players today can do the same thing to great success. Larry would still be able to do it today without issue. Larry lead the league twice in defensive stats. I believe he still could do it today. There were very few people who could plat in the paint like larry. He would hustle, he would rebound and he stole the ball all the while shoulder to shoulder with the greatest players of the 80 and come out on top. He will still do that today. Hid passing skills were second to none. That translates into todays game perfectly. And lastly this was done in a league where Handchecking was legal and encouraged. When boxing out players was encouraged and taught. And when players were literally hanging off another players back, and he still lead the league in points, D stats and steals. Today you can’t even breath on an opponent without having a penalty called. So would larry do well in todays league? Hell no, he would OWN todays league.
How they would do today hardly matters I think . They need to be evaluated by their performances of those times , the game today is simply not the same. A similar thing can be said when discussing Pele. He was the greatest of the age , but the game has changes over the last 50 years . I doubt Messi would have done as well as Pele 50 years ago for the same reason Pele would now face great differences in the football/soccer of the 2020s . You gotta stay in context !

It was more Iike:
1. Pick up ball,
2. Take one step with either foot, pivot on foot that didn't move
3. Pass or shoot.
@@arln1966 say it again. They would just sit on the bench and see how the game is supposed to be played.
Now that the NBA just lets everybody travel, they would be even better. They were great when rules still mattered.
Larry would be easily a 30 ppg+ Triple double player today. So would be Magic for what is worth. And they would play 82 games non stop.
BIRD=GOAT..
They would both destroy a zone. They did it during their careers, even when zones weren't legal.
Lace up my tennis shoes haha he used tennis shoes to play Bball. Smart
Larry Joe would destroy the league today. With a soft defense, Larry would shoot the ball from everywhere.
Sounds like the voiceover that does movie recaps 😂
Thing is it feels like he shot 55% ole larry. He would like patrick ewing said... demolish you.... what a killer he was a top 5 player of all time. Lawrence bird.
Bird would average a triple double
One word Dominate
Id say Bird would be a LETHAL 3 Point Shooter, if in todays game you really cant put hands on the player he would eat, and also be a menace with the assists maybe not so much on Defence but a SOLID player with a 24 point average and 6 Assists per game with at least 5 rebounds a game imo
Larry's best 3pointer was to take it hard in the lane. That's game.
Young people should be taught to respect their others the problem is nowadays they are not
Larry would totally rule the game, he’d do whatever he wanted offensively as NBA lacks in talent defensivelyand teams aren’t defenseively minded( so can you imagine how he would rule -points, rebounds,assists-You name it! Reggie was never as skilled as Bird but he too would be a top 5-8 player, if not higher!
both great.... i love both... but me as a german... MJ,,,, and LARRY legend..... RM in indiana.... gigatic to me too as a kid born in the 80s!!!!!
This is how you become the GOAT. You SILENCE trash talkers and hecklers. You DO NOT go running to the refs and cry to have them ejected from the arena, like LeBronda does, because some fans hurt her fee fees.
With no-touch basketball those guys will score 20 ppg on a "BAD NIGHT"...PERIOD
Bird would've done the same to every so-called superstar today, no one could stop him!
Lebron james would stop him!!!!
Larry is too slow to play against james.
they would kick butt!!!!
Reggie Miller actually modelled his game after Alex English.
With more focus on the 3. And a less physical game. These 2 would both kill it today.
Coughing and choking like Reggie Miller. Thats a rap lyric.
Today's rules:: bird will have a limited time playing,. Once you trash talk, your ejected
The NBA teams today could not compete with larry birds Celtics.
That Pacers Bulls series man. Pacers could have won that.
is this narrated by an ai or is that just how whoever's speaking speaks lmao
it’s an ai
How they would do today hardly matters I think . They need to be evaluated by their performances of those times , the game today is simply not the same. A similar thing can be said when discussing Pele. He was the greatest of the age , but the game has changes over the last 50 years . I doubt Messi would have done as well as Pele 50 years ago for the same reason Pele would now face great differences in the football/soccer of the 2020s . You gotta stay in context !
