Hi David, greetings from the U.K. Thanks for this many people are scared to maintain EVs, but as you show here, hydraulic brakes are basically the same as any other car - the main difference is the vacuum power assist; in a combustion car the natural vacuum in the intake manifold is used; in an EV, an electric vacuum pump is used.
Hi . Wondered if you could help me. I took my i3 into bmw for a KLE change. Ever since it has given me a warning saying the pads need changing. They are all hardly worn so don't need changing. They mentioned they updated the software so I assume it is that that has caused this warning to come on. Do you know how i can get rid of it, as following steps shown in a service reset video only gives me service and brake fluid reset options. Thanks, Ray.

i own a 2014 i3 and it absolutely has a lot of cheap parts. The seats hurt a lot from the thin foam, all the replacement components are cheap plastic. In fact most of the body parts are cheap plastic by design so the vehicle is lighter lmao. This is the only bmw I own that doesnt feel luxury. Even the carbon fiber roof is delaminating and bmw wont cover it lol. What about the bmw i3 makes anyone think it is worth original retail price of $70,000 usd? Lmao
@@Robbie-mw5uu I don't think any i3 originally cost $70k USA dollars.. We aren't use to having those materials in a car, however, the materials were well put together and the car was solid for a plastic car. It certainly felt more premium than a Yaris, Fit, Corolla, Bolt, Fiat 500, Rio, Spark, Feiro. The i3 was in line with the 3 Series in terms of build quality.. The two higher term versions were definitely premium feeling.. Batteries in 2013 were costly and this is why the i3 cost so much and it was a new model built on a new platform.. If BMW were to build the i3 today, the cost to consumers would be 20% less. The Gold i3s from 2021 with the brown leather interior is certainly cool and it gets people looking at it and they want to know more about it..
@@Robbie-mw5uu I wrote a reply to you 4 days ago but somehow it was deleted. The i3 was never a $70K car in the USA. There are various trim levels with this car and the highest trim level certainly was very premium in my opinion.. Certainly way more premium than other sub compact cars: Bolt, Spark, Yaris, Kona, Corolla, Versa etc...
Yes it does matter - in my experience BMW tend to use a low viscosity DOT 4 fluid and although you can source this as an aftermarket fluid, I tend to just buy it from BMW as it doesn't cost that much and only needs done every 24 months.

very good camera work
Second subscriber! Woohoo! Thanks for the video. The i3's been a fun ride.
Your a legend for this. Thanks mate!
David, what size is the hose you used and you say "when you are finished" bleeding the brakes, but how long does it take to be "finished"? Thanks!

thanks for the video. any more self-doable for i3?
Unless you have arrange Extender, there not much more to do right?
You can check bmwi3diy channel, lots of things! th-cam.com/video/trF3_aQ4L9s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fKNBZG3Livm03afl
Thanks for uploading this video!
Dealers are charging $300 and want you to do this 2 times a year..
The onboard service prompt is 24month interval AFAIK
Nice Submariner 😉
So basically the system is the same as any other car made since about 1950 🤓
Thanks

For $55k the i3 has way too many economy parts and bits.
Clearly you don't own one or know anything about it, just spamming.

I wonder if it matters if we mix different break fluids - I have NO idea what was in there before?????
