I've been playing catch up on this series for the past few years. It's great.
I played all of the cold steel games now I'm trying to play the crossbell ones
Gotta say, it's refreshing to play an RPG series where the returning characters get older as the series progresses

The voice acting is great in this game from what i've heard!
Also it's the new Calvard arc from the Kiseki/Trails series, and it's an awesome game if you like RPGs/Worldbuilding etc...!

This is not a complaint btw. I'm loving my time with these.
I love falcom. Instead of getting their budget overblown and release 1 game a decade with extra realistic lashes physics that is boring to play, they just release year after year bangers that are fun to play even if they look like a 2005-2010 games. And they run on switch great
the older games in the series are still a must play for any JRPG fan!
Visuals mean very little to me so it works out perfect for my tastes

I have been waiting for Trails through Daybreak to come out for over a year, and I am so hyped to finally play it🤩
I played the legend of heroes on the psp years ago and loved it so I'll definitely try these!

Really wanna get into the Trails series but the prequels are all over the place. If only they were all available for the switch.
Yeah... very long series but only games 4,5 as well as 8 and onwards are available on switch
Sky Trilogy: Only on PC (can run on any old laptop/computer)
Crossbell Duology: Steam, PS, Switch
Cold Steel Quadrolgy: Steam, PS (1-2 aren’t on Switch)
Reverie: Steam, PS, Switch
Daybreak (Current Arc): Steam, PS, Switch
You can start with Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure without problem and then continue with Trails of Cold Steel 3 and 4. You will understand everything, the problem is more about the emotional impact with the reappearance of old characters than a real difficulty to understand the story
I don’t think it’s a prequel, judging by Fie’s design, Agnes who we met in Cold Steel III, them mentioning the Arcus and combat links in the demo/game - which only was introduced in the first Cold Steel arc, there’s no way this is a prequel.

Loving this game, only in chapter 2 and this one does not hold back on the plot. Especially for an intro game to new characters/arc

Kind of want to get into the series but I don't know where to start
Start with the Sky Trilogy (Sky FC, Sky SC & 3rd) which is on Steam, then the Crossbell duology (Zero & Azure) which is on Steam/PS4/Switch and then the Cold Steel Tetralogy (CS1-CS4 are all on Steam/PS4, CS3-CS4 are on Switch), then there's Reverie to cap off the latter arc and then move into Daybreak and its sequels

ive never played one of these games. Is this a safe place to start as its a new arc?
Possibly? From what I'm seeing other people say about it is that you theoretically could start here. You'll be missing callbacks to the previous arcs, but you'll still be able to understand what's happening in the story. The sky trilogy will probably always be considered the best place to start if you're interested in trails, but I don't think they're on switch.
for a new region this trails game is very contained but i would advise after this one before the next one comes out to go back and play from crossbell arc aka trails from zero all the way to trails into reverie

Well this is the 11th game...but realy talk this is a new arc. If this one interests you maybe watch a bit online and see if its worth your money.

@Night-ec7ef reverie is the only one between these two. Lloyd's games released before cs1 and take place during cs1 and 2. They didnt make it to the states until last year though...but theyre like 10 years old at this point.
Reverie in a lot of ways is cs5 but also Lloyd's (Crossbell) 3. With emphasis on Llyod.

I still can't move on Trails of cold steel I've been playing the game since 2018 and Van looks like Rean, it's hard but the trailer is so good I will get the game but still I can't imagine I would like it as much as the cold steel I know it's within the same story but I can't
I get it. I still feel like Estelle is the best protag. Its hard to let that attachment go.

The first Legend of Heroes came out 1989, 3 years after the original Zelda
The legend of heroes is the main series that Falcom started back in 1989. It currently has 3 different subseries, which all have their own lore / story.
Games 1 & 2 are in the Dragon Slayer series.
Games 3 - 5 are in the Gagharv series.
Games 6 - 18 are in the Trails series. (Yes, the plots of all 13 of these games are connected, with this title being the 11th title.)

The games and there's a lot are structured like anime with cliffhangers and arcs and reoccurring characters
They made an anime that is canon but it doesnt retread any of the games. The anime is a side story. Its also fairly meh.

It has both a Turn Based & Action RPG modes. Here I'll do this for help.
The game's combat system is divided into two modes: real-time action battles similar to Falcom's Ys series and traditional turn-based combat featured in the series' past. The game encourages the player to use both modes, which can be freely switched between outside of boss fights, which are exclusively turn-based

Another trailer that pretty much tells me nothing about the game. Is it action, turn-based, strategy? If this Is all it takes to sell something I'll stick some googly eyes on some twigs and have them bump against each while punk rock plays and charge $10.
Its both.... but most people stick with this series for the Story.
Turn based RPG franchise. Daybreak specifically has some action bits before you engage in the turn based fight.
If you’ve seen trailers for Atlus new upcoming RPG Metaphor: Refantzio, it’s the same thing.
