    A year ago it was ART. How time flies. I can't turn over gear that fast. I do appreciate your thoughts.

      I have the ART999. Great glide, but I find it turns a bit slow, and it's quite unruly in rough waters compared to my HPS 1050. This has me intrigued.

    Bought my first gofoil last December while on Maui. GT1400 and 14” long tail. Love the simple setup with 2 screws. Just purchased an additional 90cm v2 mast and GT1770 and GT2200 along with 17 and 20” tails. Now I can wing with my kids at the same time as opposed to taking turns.

    Hi. Thanks for making the video. I certainly want to try GoFoil after hearing your glowing thoughts. Sounds incredibly good. Regards.

    Thanks Dwight! !!
    We will be in Florida April 22.23 St Pete area and then 29.30th in Ft Pierce for some Demos and /or Clinics if anyone wants to try what Dwight is talking about. #elitewatersports and #finandfoil
    Also, I will be bringing a couple "Barracuda" Dave Kalama models if anyone is interested in trying those with a Go Foil !...
    Praying for wind and or Waves on those weekends!

    I listened to this review, and ordered a GT 1770 and 17"L tail, and the 80 cm V2 mast. I am SO happy that I did. Amazing glide, pump ability, and it turns like a dream- crazy how this setup is improving my game. I almost feel like I am cheating! Thank you, thank you, thank you DW for posting this!! No one in my area sells GoFoil so no one in my area is using it. It really took a leap of faith to try this (I have tried Naish, Axis, and Armstrong only in the past as they are sold in the MidAtlantic area)

      Great to hear you loved it. My favorite higher performance setup is the same 17 tail with the GT-1400 and GT-1250. It increases speed, glide, and turning. Great for higher winds and harder ripping. No need to buy smaller tails. @alexaguera1 did a great job. He was the one that tipped me off about trying big tails with smaller wings. The big tail helps maintain the great low end when going to a smaller front wing, with minimal drawback. It’s amazing.

    Nice review! They certainly look pretty and I know that local guys are raving over them. Cabrinha has their MK-II series of medium aspect foils that have a tip flare and I’ve noticed it acts like a fence for the “air suck” down the foil. I definitely want to give the GO//FOIL foils another shot after hearing your review.

    Can you tell us what AR you a referring to when you talk about mid aspect vs high aspect?

    • @foilsurfmachines
      @foilsurfmachines  ปีที่แล้ว

      Around 10 is considered high. 6 to 8 is mid.

    Are you using these for winging or sup? If winging, how do you compare to Axis foils? Also, I think you missed a great selling point: you only need two screws, right? One for the foil and one for the stab?

    • @foilsurfmachines
      @foilsurfmachines  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use them for wing and SUP. GoFoils suits my riding preferences better. I never cared about rigging time with any brand of foil I owned, so 2 screws is not a selling point for me. How they ride is.

    Just curious- are all the wings/tails interchangeable with other masts? Or are they set specific? I have a mast that I bought a new foil for and I had to modify it- add thickened epoxy so that it would fit tightly..

    • @foilsurfmachines
      @foilsurfmachines  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there were some updates to the mast and wing fitment a few years ago.

    A little late to the party! Always love hearing what you have to say about gear! Great explanation, I could even understand! LOL! Hope you both are doing well!

    Dwight, I don't have a place to try them, but I'm 200 lbs and learning to wing in light wind (and choppy water). What size front wings would you recommend? Also, my girlfriend is 110lbs, so I might want a different front wing for her in same conditions.

    • @foilsurfmachines
      @foilsurfmachines  ปีที่แล้ว

      For you the GT-1770 with FTL-17 tail. For her GT-1250 with FTL-12 tail.

    What foil wings are you riding? I'm riding the Delta 1050/850 and don't need anything bigger than the 1050. Started with the mid-aspect 1280 but it does not get much use. I did try the RS 1150 at one point but seemed to have way too much front foot pressure, maybe I need to retry. I have an open mind but have no access to demo most of these wings. The RSX-1075 looks pretty interesting. I would not rule out testing the waters with one of these if I could maintain speed and efficiency but gain a little maneuverability. Also curious to try the GT wings. Alex needs to come to Hatteras sometime :)

      The front footed feel of the GoFoil is what I love. A front footed foil is less leg fatigue to ride. Never will you experience back leg burn on a GoFoil. Also, the front footed feel makes for more intuitive pumping. Easier, more positive foot switching. I never have to tweak tail shims to get rid of back leg nervousness and leg fatigue. Now if that appeals to you, then I’d recommend the newer foils in the GoFoil lineup. The RS-1150 did not wow me. I did not buy one after the demo. The RS-975 is more fun than the RS-1075. The GTs are the best surfing foils. RS for bigger, faster waves, or just ripping faster. All of them turn really quick. The RS-HAs have the most pump and glide, though at a faster pace than the GTs. The GTs are just easy pumping and surfing. The RS-850-HA is a direct competitor to the Lift 120, but easier to ride than the Lift.

      the new V2 mast doesn’t work with a lot of boards. Tracks not far enough back.

    • @obx_foiler
      @obx_foiler ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Dwight! I'm very happy with my Delta's right now but always interested to try other gear. I've always ridden neutral foils (even foot pressure) and no issues with back leg fatigue or shimming. Maybe I'd get used to the front foot pressure and even like it. Totally threw me off initially on the 1150. That said, I would need to demo these foils to do more. Locally no access to any GT's or any of the new RS foils.
      Now if someone had a foil that could solve the sea-grass issue I'd buy it sight unseen :)

      @@obx_foiler I ride balanced pressure also. The GoFoil just never switches to rear pressure, at any speed. The front foot feel is best described as not real, just always positive and there when “pumping”
