I am in my MSW program for hospital social work right now and I’m glad that I found your channel! It’s so nice to see what other social workers are doing and hear their perspectives on the work.
You don't have to say anything. I went into SW because the SW who was there for my nana's passing was just there for me when i lost the most important person in my life. I had the chance to thank him once i graduated with my MSW. During my MSW internship, i was in a hospital and was present for death and difficult choices like Hospice or palliative care. I struggled with it and realized I'm not at the point in my career where I'm comfortable dealing with death and dying frequently. Knowing your limits helps. But you are so empathetic and genuine that families will just find comfort in your presence. Sending you so much support when you navigate through those though times. ❤
I’m a medical social worker and I work with both pediatric and adult patients. Although I serve in a ambulatory setting, I deal with patients with all kind of conditions, particularly cancer. I know exactly what you are feeling. Just continue being great, being present and empathetic. You are doing an amazing job.
Thank you for sharing your experience with social work. I’m 51 years old SUD Counselor working on my ADT program and transfer to get my Bachelor degree BUT I’m undecided. I love working with people in the Justice system and was wondering if I should do criminal justice or social work for my undergraduate. Eventually I do plan to get my masters in social work Can you help guide me
Being a supportive ear, expressing you cannot imagine what they are going through, and community resources to link them with families who may have gone through something similar who may be able to share their experience, strength, and hope to get through these difficult times. What is your experience with life care planning and discussing advance health care directives? Do you have access to CAPC training modules. there are modules which you go through how to share difficult news. You have it right just to be there and be empathetic, it is a skill built up over time and each situation will be different from the last. Are there anticipatory loss groups you may be able to sit in on offered at your work or community? Long story short, you are doing great.
thank you so much for all of the content in this comment!! there are resources to connect families in support group settings and I definitely plan to continue leaning on those. connection hits different from people who understand deeply what a family is going through 💗
omg this doesn’t answer your question but this does make me excited to tell you a 40 minute reading vlog is going up on Sunday showing everything I read in august 🙊🙊
Why did this show up when i searched for scout tf2 saying "next time eat a salad" I mean...you kind of look like the scout in the thumbnail, red shirt and necklace and all
