As a kiwi I really appreciated the Welsh boys really taking it to our boys, they played well with good defence and great flowing attacking rugby, both sides gave an awesome display for the supporters to enjoy it could have gone either way. Great talent for both countries coming through.

Great game of rugby, in many ways more entertaining than their older counterparts, less risk averse... The future is looking healthy for both nations on this showing
I watched the full game earlier and with that 9 and 10 we have we will definitely lose as both were slow and lost for most of the match from defence pressure

Not a great look for the future of NZ considering a number of these are already playing Super Rugby and struggled to beat the team that came last with 0 wins in the U20 6 Nations this year

Kemara's goal- and tactical kicking was awful in the first half, in the second there was a significant improvement. The lad has talent but is far from the finished product it seems.
I dont know what's in to NZ rugby these days I know the game has changed from what it used to be and it's not favorable for the NZ style. But still we seems to struggle alot. Thank god atleast they won the 7s title.
Makes you wonder what happens with the infrastructures of the different countries when U20 is always so close and hard to know which country will win. Yet Test levels it’s so often doesn’t change much.
it takes awhile for the low player base of youths to filter through - most of our good All Blacks are from the time before youths started shifting towards other sports a lot more than rugby.

@@JaemanEdwards doesn't mean a thing really. Wales played really well in this first game. If they carry on playing like they did against NZ, they'll do well. Watching all the games so far, most of the teams have chance!

The big show is totally different. In a tournament, pressure and attrition are added factors. Going by the first round results, there were a lot of close games. Respect to the young welsh warriors. If NZ don't win this World Championships, I'd love to see either Wales, Argentina, Georgia, or Italy lift the trophy.
51 secs expired since the awarding of the Welsh try which was subsequently disallowed before the restart. Logically you would wipe that 51 secs off and go back to the exact time it was when the referee awarded the disallowed try.
I could be completely wrong but I thought if you’re on your goal line you can’t be offside, first half ref calls New Zealand offside in their own goal, second half he does the same to Wales
Here's a question ❓ if the ball is grounded, on the line and it's a try then surely defending players should be able to stand right on the edge of the line and not touch the field of play? And be onside.
@@teauraki It's often the hands that is penalised. If you watch closely, players have their hands on the ground because they want to be as low as possible to proprely defend. If you put your hands too far forwards, you're in an offside position.

Too many theatrics and not able to back it up, especially in the forwards. Does not look like a good harvest this year. This said, some more questionable refereeing. That last Welsh line-out throw was as straight as Nigel Owens.
Yeah was weird watching the 9 standing watching behind the tryline on those early mauls. No logic in it. One less defender each maul. Just barking orders.

Seriously i stayed up early to watch this and our 9 and 10 are terrible. The halfback had extremely slow ball and dropped the ball so many times and our 10 kept kicking it out on the full or passing it to nobody smh. Seriously we were lucky to beat wales but i must say its not looking good for the future of All black rugby if thats our 10 and 9

NZU20 team just doesn't look as strong as our past teams.
Nz can't retain the young players. They're quickly heading over to NRL junior academies in Aus at 16/17 years old.
Our last couple of teams have been poor. One had Caleb Clarke and Hoskin Sotutu, and they didn't even make the semi's.
Other nations are on par now. You can see the skill and coaching coming through. Not easy beats anymore.
