This redefined Bayverse Starscream toys. The DotM deluxe, MPM, and Studio Series figures all benefitted from the engineering concepts this figure introduced to the character.
I thought the DOTM toy was pretty darn good for its size, but I was a little worried about scaling it up for Studio Series. Getting it in hand though? I still wish the extenders under his wings were a little narrower so the loops on his hips could be a little more streamlined, but it's still better than I first thought. I actually sold my Leader version when the version with the Cybertronix glyphs came out, because as much as I loved the big one with all his gimmicks, the smaller size and easier transformation won me over.
This Starscream is so nostalgic for me, I had him from the end of elementary school all the way to high and he may even be hiding somewhere to this day, I still remember both his quotes perfectly "No one can defeat Starscream!" And "Decepticons will crush the Autobots"
This was the figure that made me start collecting these again! I found him on a bottom shelf of an antique mall for $50 CAD and swiped him, since then sparking my love for this franchise again. Love this figure to death and he has a special place in my heart and on my shelf!
Hunt for the Decepticons has weirdly the best toys at the time. Especially their Deluxe Bee was a huge leap forward, and that slightly miniaturized Optimus
I have this lad standing on my PC right now. I bought him for $15 at a Flea Market and I had to buy his gun on eBay for....$20. Be happy his electronics don't work. He doesn't shut up the whole time I transform him.
I wanna say this weirdo was released as a Master Piece figure in Japan before the actual MPM line started, and I've gotta say, he deserved it! I've gotta say, I do think he's better than the MPM in all ways other than "screen accuracy", as he even poses better in a lot of ways. He's also actually fun to mess with, while I HATE transforming the MPM with a passion.
I agree that he's awesome. I chose to not upgrade to the MPM due to my appreciation of the quality of engineering of this figure. Wish he had rotating wrists though.
I found this guy at a Value Village a few years ago for cheap. Electronics still worked, he just didn't have his weapons and he was missing parts of his wings, but he was fun to mess with. I think I sold him in a garage sale last year though
I love Studio Series and all but Hasbro needs to do some straight up re realeses not just from Bayformers figure's but Animated,Prime and Beast Machines, but not all of them to still give the Legacy line a purpose
I remember the left arm on my copy broke at that butterfly joint. Thankfully it didn't impact things too much since it could tab somewhere else in both modes. It actually opened up some interesting display options. Like giving his severed arm to Megatron or Ironhide, or even a plush animal.
I actually have a funny story about this figure! Years ago, when I was a kid in high school, I watched Dark of the Moon with my brother and my mom for the first time. We enjoyed the hell out of that movie at the time, and needless to say, Mom got us each a leader-class Transformer for Christmas later that year. My brother got Optimus, and I got Starscream. But when I went to open my present... ooh, boy.... Before I so much as made a single TEAR in that Christmas present, we all heard inside the box, loud and clear: "Nobody can defeat Starscream!!!" We all burst out laughing, and I knew right off the bat what it was. I've long since given away that figure, but that whole thing became our inside joke, and we laugh about it any time we talk Transformers. LOL!
I have always wanted this figure since my childhood and I just got him on my birthday, the one I got is absolutely fantastic! It still feels like it's new even after 14 years
Love that you love it as well, he was my second Starscream (first I got was the ROTF Voyager) and is my go-to Transformer to show off to friends and/or family whenever they want to see my collection. I agree that there is something very satisfying in the way he transforms, and the gimmicks are perfect. Also, I like the weapon storage for the missile launcher and I think the jet mode looks very clean. And that's not all, for he has stood the test of time so well. If you can get it guys, don't miss on old Screamer, you are gonna love him!
Dark of the moon starscream: Ow ow ow my eye my eye I can’t see I can’t see useless human scum poor screamer 3:04 monkey 😂 and I use to have that same vision of starscream
I just found one today at Goodwill for $2.29. It's missing the gun, missiles, and the tail swivel pieces, but you can't beat the price. Batteries still work too.
You may want to be careful, that looks like it might be the same brown/gold plastic that they used on ROTF Stratosphere. Would be a shame if anything happened to this rare gem.
I got my copy years ago for 30 canadian, which was what voyagers used to sell for. That discount retailer is long gone, but I regret not picking up the Optimus Prime leader as well that they also had at the time.
I had one of these when I was younger. I gave my mom most of my transformer toys a few years ago. She lost them all though. The only one I have left from my youth is my Cybertron prime leader. Pain.
i somehow got extremely lucky and got both masterpiece and this for £65. Asides the black knee pads on this leader tending to fall off at times they are both mint condition with all accessories. Very thankful for this video to get me searching for him and finding it cheap because he’s just far more satisfying to handle than mpm accuracy aside!
Fun fact: before the actual MPM mold came out (hell, before the modern MPM line as we know it even started, really), Takara actually sold this figure in the Masterpiece line with the '07 movie color scheme.
@@jeebus2313 MPM-1 was in the same scale and everything. It was screen accurate. It actually has a better jet mode. It's a _literal movie masterpiece figure._ The first one. Of a series that has continued since then up until the present day, with basically the same approach. What distinction are you trying to make here?
I recently paid a little under 80 at a collectible store new in box I did take them out of the box because electronics weren’t working but luckily they worked fine after I change the batteries and other than that not having wrist swivels this has to be my favorite leader class figure I own.
Bro I remember finding this in a thrift store without his weapons but his whole forking leg was just broken off at the thigh and I was like "bro had his leg amputated💀"
Only movie Screams I have is voyager 07 deep space and DOTM Deluxe. Which a massive place in my heart for the 07 since my dad got it me before it went to the shelf, but I recently got the deluxe dotm one and it really impressed me.
I just attempted to change the batteries in my Leader Starscream because the original ones had died out. When I put in a new pair of AA-batteries (of a different brand) and put the battery cover back on, the battery-powered functions didn’t work. When I just took the battery cover off, everything worked fine. It took me a while to realize what was going on. The battery cover has been molded very neatly around the shape of the Hasbro Pow-R-Fuel batteries, which came pre-installed in the figure. So neatly, that most other AA-batteries don’t sit quite right under the battery cover. Most other AA-batteries have slightly higher and more square ”shoulders”, when you stand the battery upright on a table. This slightly different shape results them being pressed too hard and crowded against the battery cover, and the battery functions die out. Has anyone else had this problem? What brand of AA-batteries have you successfully used in Leader Class Starscream?
I got the Takara MPM version loose for cheap back when I was living in Japan. I was just going to take a look at it, and then sell it on - not a Bayverse fan generally, though there were some good offscreen toys. I'm never selling this guy, he's amazing.
I remember when I was around 7 or 8, I went to DDs with my parent's, and I saw this figure in the toy section for 15 bucks. Idk who brought it there or what the situation was, because it was brand new still in the box with the lights and sounds. To this day I don't forgive them for not letting me get it
You need to start linking your videos of the toys you bring in for comparisons in the description. I would watch the links and it would give your channel more traction to move around to more of your content.
He doesn't always have reviews for all of them, so he'd have to go back and update stuff after the fact which is annoying and probably won't help much. Most views come from the first day or so after it's posted.

I remember owning this starscream, it holds a special place in my heart mainly it being my first leader
9:33 even still, that’s the cleanest I’ve seen on a movie style Starscream and most Starscreams and jetformers overall

this starscream till this day is in MY EYES the best bayverse starscream... even with studio series and MPM.
The mpm 1 which is this version just painted to look like the first movie is the best movie starscream ever imo

It (in the silver deco with no tats) was actually _the first_ Movie Masterpiece figure.... MPM-01. That's why the 07 Bumblebee was MPM-03.
He says “Decepticons will crush the Autobots!” and “No one can defeat Starscream!”. In jet mode he also makes some noises and when he transforms.
Then they just repainted that Leader Starscream to look like his 07 version for the first Movie Masterpiece Starscream.
This was my favorite toy growing up
I agree that he's awesome. I chose to not upgrade to the MPM due to my appreciation of the quality of engineering of this figure. Wish he had rotating wrists though.
One of the best $16 I've spent on a TJ Maxx years ago when I passed by there on my way back from vocational school one day
I worked for Marshalls around that time and pulled a box with this and Optimus along with the Golden Battle Ops Bumblebee right off the truck.
I found this guy at a Value Village a few years ago for cheap. Electronics still worked, he just didn't have his weapons and he was missing parts of his wings, but he was fun to mess with. I think I sold him in a garage sale last year though

Just realizing how lucky I am. I got mine in an Ebay auction for 25 bucks last year.
This and ROTF Leader Optimus were my first ever transformers toys. Pretty safe to say that 4 year old me was eating good.
Thank you! There is one of these I have been eyeing at my local store for $20 also missing one missile that I didn't realize was such a good deal.
Every time I see that figure I can hear Jobby saying “putitinmyass”
I snagged this guy minus a couple parts (wing broke and rear wing broke) for 50 cents
I TOLD YOU ITS PERFECT FOR YOUR LEADER CLASS COLLECTION/ITS SUCH A AMAZING FEGURE / I ALSO OWN THIS LEADER AND I LOVE IT.

This guy in 1st movie colours was released as a masterpiece figure before the mpm line really started
We still get them for around $30 here in the Philippines. Hasbro was not yet getting cheap on plastics when they made those figures back in the day.
I managed to find one at a game shop for $25. He is missing his missiles, but his electronics still work fine which is awesome!
