Qashqai is the same. Nissan sells without a spacesaver which increases boot space to attract buyer. Buyer forced to buy spacesaver at approx £250. Buyer later realises boot space and rear seat legroom is crap and buys a Kuga which has more space and is already fitted with spacesaver. DO NOT BUY A CAR WITHOUT A SPARE WHEEL INSTALLED OR MAYBE NOT PREFERENCE FOR SOME:- RUNFLATS eg Mini/ BMW
@@mjames2117 I agree. Bloody silly not fitting a spare as standard. Does anybody really choose a car just because it has an extra 10 cubic litres of boot space. Let's face it, for 99.9% of the time the vehicle is being driven around with only one person in it and then there are HUGE amounts of storage space.

@@jjk15 its amazing so quiet.soo smooth we got the st line but their is no spare wheel just a compressor under the drivers seat and when you put the car in sport mode the difference is unreal also it has a limit setting so you won't pick up a speeding ticket can honestly say I love it
Very nice review. Doug is a great anchor. Nicely paced and covered all aspects of the vehicle.
Have the first edition x 155 and what a great car it is and it shifts for a 1-litre car. Had fast cars in the past, Subarus UK version and a Japanese import that did 0-60 in lower 4 seconds and it was great fun. However (maybe an age thing) but this is the best car I have driven. Leather/cloth bucket seats which is very comfortable and the Bang and Olufsen sound system well you can't get any better.
That boot box isn't a trick. The real trick is "Where did they hide the spare wheel?

Took a test drive earlier in the year of one from the local Ford Dealership and was amazed by it's nippy performance from such a small engine (which is aided by the 48V electric motor), practicality and ease to drive - even for a small person like myself as steering wheel/seat is fully adjustable! Not bothered about the lack of rear seat space as I will only be carrying one rear seat passenger, which will be my mother when I take my elderly parents on trips out. Got a Puma ST-Line on order to replace my 2017 KA+ (which has served me well over the last 5 years but the lack of boot space and the lack of power on hill climbs was the reason to go for the Puma for my next new car) and should receive it by Christmas 2022!

The original Puma had style, originality and presence even if it was only a modified Fiesta. This new one has none of these.

What is strange to me is that with a stronger 155hp/240Nm petrol, this is slower than my bigger and heavier Ateca 150hp/250Nm petrol.
@@madant7777 yeah I thought that, I have a 2017 150bhp Leon FR which is quicker than a mild hybrid smaller, lighter car, odd.
Many Ford Puma owners (the original) have spat at this new suv and all agree it is not worthy of the name! As for heritage, the new Puma has no connection to its roots: the s1400, s1600 rally cars or the Ford racing Puma what so ever. Shame really but the legacy lives on I suppose

As I’m obviously unaware of your years, I’m curious if your statement is relative to age. I would suggest at my stage of life it is presumably correct.
I’ve had my Vignale 155bhp for 6 weeks & it’s the best car I’ve owned. Previously owned a 1.6 Zetec S Fiesta & this tops that. Incredibly comfortable and easy to drive. I think it looks fantastic too - I’ve got 19” wheels as an option …
Not too bothered about lack of space in the back as I rarely have passengers in the back. The boot is one of my favourite things as you have carry a lot of stuff in it and it doesn’t roll around and back a noise as it would in a standard boot

I was behind a new Puma yesterday at some traffic lights. It’s no surprise there’s that deep box in the boot; the sill was (almost) level with my eye line!

Went into my local vw garage ,drove t rock drove chr the golf and was nearly going home with my bmw 520 ,when the salesman said try the puma I just got in ,I loved it ,they drive like a big car so by bye 520 d ,hi to puma stx the bmw wasn’t good constantly at the very poor bmw dealers in Athlone Ireland .saying that bmw Ireland were fantastic only let down by a poor dealership management .avoid like the plague,I’ve had 4 bmw 520 d and the best was a 2014 ,hope the puma will be better

Hey, anyone know how this belt generator works transmitting power to the engine. I read it's Belt ISG. Isn't the 1.0 engine still timing chain driven since 2018? Do the chain and belt Power simultaneously? Or is it back to belt transmission the mild electric motor runs on the same belt?

This car always turns heads on the road, the ST Line X in Desert Island looks the best, think there will be a nice looking Green Colour for the ST model later this year, that looks good too.

had an original puma ..1.7 sport..[got a focus 2litre now and its mental and sticks to the road like glue[[but the puma[black [was a hoot...ford engineers are world beaters..always up there..and im no petrolhead..well done fawds

Believe me , in some countries a spare tyre is a must and a tyre repair kit is only good for a small puncture.

Had my Ford Puma st-line x for a month now. While I like the styling of the car very much, I am wondering if there is a design fault with the back doors? ! Road grit and soil are on the inside of the door sills, seem to be thrown up from the back wheels
Unless there was an embargo , i guess this video was released at midnight to coincide with What Cars 'car of the year' awards a few hours earlier & surprisingly the Puma is the best of them all ! , well at least it is a vast improvement on the previous model , the Ecosport which got 2 stars out of 5. No doubt it will be the best seller in its class in the UK , despite the bug-eyed headlights !.

@@marklola12 they are stopping sedan and hatchback production in the US with the exception of the Mustang. This counts as a crossover so it could possibly be sold here, though its unclear at the moment of it will
I've spent last month searching for a small car for my family. I had my test drive yesterday. So far THE BEST of the smallest crossovers. great boot space and configuration! lot of space in the back... places for kids water bottles (yes, it's not obvious). front and rear parking sensors, great camera (yes, both are also not so obvious). two weak points: it's noisy (but unlike Kamiq, it's engine noise, not a body noise, so MAYBE some additional work under the bonnet with some mats could solve the problem), you got everything on the steering weel, so buttons are really small. SMALL.
You don't have armrest at the back? you are correct, but at least you have a space for a water bottle in the door pockets (unlike Kamiq).
This is the only small crossover that I enjoyed to drive with my family. We are just waiting for automatic transmission in the mid of 2020.
Oh BTW, the doors cover the entire side of the car. THANK YOU FORD!

I’ve noticed they always seem to review the top of the range car.
Didn’t mention that lots of the things on the video aren’t available on the titanium model. LED lights, digital dash, sunroof for a start.

I see everything Ford did here. Those styling cues don't make it a good looking car, but A+ for intent all the same, it looks very right-now. Take note, Mitsubishi: this is bringing back a beloved coupe as a "fashionable" SUV done arguably right!

If only it had slideable rear seats. Also, I hope the digital dashboard uses different display technology because the current Sync 3 screens do a terrible job at displaying black colours in the night, which makes the whole thing very glary

I can't understand why they don't sell this in the USA but do sell the Ecosport. This would sell much better. But they should offer a compact spare tire in lieu of the empty box in the trunk and a fold down armrest with 2 cup holders in the back seat.
So how frugal on long runs, say compared to a 1.6 TDI?
Instead of a really useful spare wheel, there’s space in the boot for a box, which no one asked for.

This design would have been incredible on a hot hatch. I don't like suvs but this looks great (in a "missed opportunity" sort of way). SUV people will probably love these though.
it's been 2 year and I still not used to how Puma looks, for general people who keep buying suvs for it's practicality I'm sure they can see the appeal but for me who grew up with Fiesta, Focus and other hatchbacks the Puma look bloated...it's trying to look like suvs but not quite there yet. Judging from the sales people in general is fine with it but for me I'm just gonna stick with my Mk7 Fiesta.

Why the comparison with the T-Roc throughout? This is comparable to T-Cross with the forthcoming Kuga comparable to the T-Roc???
Robert Dawkins the T Roc is closer to the Puma’s price point, so I can see why they chose the Roc as a comparison, also the Kuga is competing with the Tiguan, not the Cross.

Nope... Puma is somewhat between the T-Cross and T-roc while the Kuga plays in the Tiguan's league..

Not once did we see the full rear of the car without it moving. Good review. But people like to see the full car. Not just the front.
Your gonna hurt your eyes it's a sporty suv so it's not relevant it looks really bad compared with the old model

Outside looks beautiful,inside looks like an interior of previous decade.
The styling is nice but some other reviews have suggested that it's a push calling it a proper SUV and it's more like a high riding Fiesta that's been down the gym!

I think this car fits me very well.
I like it,I would consider buying it.would rather have a spare wheel than a hole in the floor and does it have a CD player ? My ideal car would be a non turbo engine and auto.

f you want the 153bhp version with an auto 'box, you'll have to specify the top-spec ST-Line Vignale or Vivid Ruby Edition
