RCCL Harmony of the Seas Balcony Cabin 8596 with Cruise Deets in the Description

Sailed July 28 - August 33rd 2024 out of Galveston
This cabin has a spacious balcony because it is on the hump and is located pretty much in the middle of the ship. The cabin was, unfortunately, quite loud. There were frequent banging noises that we could never identify. Perhaps it was bunk bed ladders because there was a family with children on both sides of us. The bed was comfortable but made even more comfortable with a 1 1/2 inch foam topper that was under the bed when we arrived.
Sadly, we encountered many passengers with rude and classless behavior. The biggest issue was latecomers in Studio B and people saving whole rows of seats when this is not supposed to be allowed. A large family showed up really late for the ice show then blocked (while trying to find seats) and were talking during the entire show. I really wish the theaters would prevent latecomers from entering once shows have started. After our negative experience at the ice show, we decided to cancel all of our other booked shows. There were LOTS of children and large family groups on this cruise, which is expected for the summer season.
Food: While the service in the MDR was great, the food is not near as good as on Mariner of the Seas. The prime rib on night one looked and tasted like old meat. It was sent back for a steak, instead. But, we found our steak cuts were full of fat and gristle every time we ordered steak. All of the desserts and breakfasts we had were fantastic.
Casino: So many slot machines were out of service, so that was very annoying. Bar service was great if in the nonsmoking casino but not so great in the main casino. The main casino was terribly smoky and staff were not enforcing the smoking policy. There were loads of people using the casino as a smoking room, and there were always children in the casino. We have not received out typical wine bottles in our cabin compliments of the casino for our last 3 cruises, so I guess they have done away with that benefit. We witnessed a $1500 winner on the Prosperous Tortoise slot machine and a $1500 winner on one of the All Aboard slots in the nonsmoking casino. Rumor had it there were a few really big winners in the main casino, too.
Embarkation and debarkation were both very smooth!
Overall, this cruise was a great vacation.
