    I have the 5mp system, it took me a lot of trial and test positioning to get it all to work this way but my cameras all change to colour when my security lights come on, and the security lights trigger each other using a fibaro switch, the security lights that watch my front door and car are also activated using person detection off my nest hello, its really worth the hassle setting it all up.

    Great Video. I have the NVR 8580 16 channel with 9 cameras, I have the previous 4K cameras with one way audio. I wish Swann would give you trade in credit on older cameras. I also wish they allowed you to upload the video to the cloud directly as the device records. Otherwise a thief could just steal your NVR making your system pretty useless. I realize it currently has the capability to upload stills only. But that is hit or miss on what you get. If you could remotely login via SSH you could install your own backup software unfortunately Swann has locked the system down. I love my Swann system but having no option to upload video automatically can be a real deal killer for some.

    Extremely well done and thorough review. After watching, it looks like most of the siren and spotlight settings are available on the mobile app except the zone settings for when the lights/siren come on. I'm away a lot, so if I set this up and end up getting too many siren alerts when I'm away, is there a way to disable that setting from the app, or would I need to physically be at the NVR? I'm good fiddling with the NVR but because I travel a lot would need to be able to disable the siren/strobe functions if they end up being overly aggressive to avoid angering my neighbors. Wonderful review and appreciate any response. .

      You are correct in your assessment. But...
      You can disable the siren or lights on each camera from your phone. You can turn off all notifications if you wish from the phone app too.
      You can’t turn off notifications from individual cameras via the app. That’s something you’d need to do from the NVR itself.
      I appreciate the nice words and thank you.
      Thank you for watching!

    Another solid review. Do you have a video showing how far out the light broadcasts from the spotlights? Like using your phone and recording how bright they are.

    • @locoboof

      I guess it depends on your budget and if you can run wires. I personally have this system (listed below) and got one for my father in law.
      It has a rich feature set, notifications and it’s expandable. So if you want to add these spotlight Cameras or more cameras you can. Even adding just one spotlight cam over your front porch is awesome. You can hear and SPEAK to anyone. Even delivery guys. No matter where you are in the world.
      The spotlight cams are the only ones that allow you to talk and hear. The others only let you hear.

    Question , how is the 2 way audio working with an NVR ? Do have another device for that feature or is it built in with the NVR already ?

    • @locoboof
      @locoboof  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it’s all built in. There’s mics and speakers in the cameras. You just use the app to talk.

    Great review... I am in the trying to purchasing 4K camera system, but struggling between few brands.... One of the main thing for me the is app experience which can't really be found anywhere.... How is the app? Fast or Slow....may be comparing other camera system? Most camera apps seems to run very slow.... The fastest I have experienced is Amcrest.... Thanks!

    Great video man! When you are standing on the front porch talking to your wife, how long is the delay from when you say something to your wife to the time you hear her response? You spliced a clip right before each of her three responses, leading me to believe there is a long delay. But awesome that they now provide the ability to have 2-way talk. Have you tried having conversation from remote location (not on your own wifi network) -- I would assume the delay is too long to make it usable remotely.... Also, could you show what the strobe and steady light look like when looking at the camera from the porch?

    • @locoboof
      @locoboof  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will compile more footage and put it all together for you. That way you can see. My wife was being silly, laughing... so I edited it out. I’d say there’s a 1-2 second delay.
      I’ve spoken to the mailman and UPS from my phone at work. With no WiFi.

    Hey thanks for the informative review! Question - If these new speakers have the audio feature, then i assume the older cameras that came with the Swan 8580 system also had speakers too? If so, why are you replacing them, is it much louder?

    • @locoboof
      @locoboof  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I can't find a way to speak from my phone to the camera.

    • @locoboof
      @locoboof  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just hit the mic button on the onscreen menu from the app. Then hold to talk.

  • @AGhostInTheMachine
    @AGhostInTheMachine 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Swann...the mic pics up way too much wind and background noise, you can even hear it in this video demonstration. It distorts speech and what you're actually wanting to hear. Please improve that. Improve the mic.
    Also, the speaker volume is too low.
    Also, on the next generation of your NVR, put a mic on the front of the unit AND a mic input jack on the back of the unit so users can speak directly into it (by pushing a TALK button or something). The app is clunky, takes too long to load, often shows spinning wheel delay, crashes, etc. Not very practical in real world use when you want to speak thru the camera speaker. By the time the app is ready, the person you want to talk to is probably already gone. Silly.
    Also, put more time into your app. Improve the stability.

    Do you know what the major differences are between the 5580,7580 and 8580 series?

    • @locoboof
      @locoboof  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 5580 is a analog 4K version. And no spotlights or two way audio on the cameras.
      The 7580 is over ethernet and is digital, but it’s only 5mp and no two way audio and no spotlights.
      The 8580 is the full 4K best of the best. Power over ethernet, full 4K, two way audio and spotlights on the cameras if you get the upgraded cams with spotlights and two way audio.

    Hello we have 7 cameras 4K. But as soon as it goes dark at night 4 switch off completely. How do we rectify this. Also one camer that switches off then starts the lights flashing. How do we stop this too ? Many thanks vicki

    • @locoboof
      @locoboof  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe go into the setting and manually turn on the IR (infrared) sensors? Sounds like they are not automatically switching on when dark. You can even set it to color IR at night too. That’s what mine are on.
