Wow, awesome to see how far you've come as a presenter/reviewer. Was looking at buying a used Durango and "stumbled" across this video. Keep up the great work!
Just got back from Touring and I co-sign that this durango is the REAL DEAL. 1400 miles in two days with 4 adults, drum set, dj gear, keyboard w/stand, band merch and all of our luggage... All while getting 26mpg!!! I am strongly considering trading my silverado in..
The RT looks pretty damn sweet. But those rims need to go. It looks ghetto like if a Mexican put them on. FYI: I'm Mexican so its okay for me to say that
My wife purchased a Dodge Durango.Crew. We noticed a oil leak behind the alternator. I took it to Helfman Dodge here in Houston, Texas. Both times they said they could not fix it because it was 'seeping'. Heck it had oil all over that part of the engine. The service manager told me if it leaking in the garage bring it back with the cardboard showing the oil leak. I also have the "Total Care" warranty but they called it seepage. I call it a bad gasket!
i'm curious how this car will fare in the long run in terms of interior quality, because people are finding problems with hyundais and people thought they had great interiors at first
Whether you were sarcastic or not, your welcome! And I did not mean to imply you were being ignorant or anything negative about hmnieu. I've read many other posts, and even heard some statements from friends and coworkers over the years that reveal their confusion.
hello what's the difference between rt and the citadel? is arty more sporty and citadel more comfortable? elaborate please i'm thinking of getting one but i can't decide thanks!
Its short for hemispherical meaning the cylinder heads were crafted in a hemispherical shape to increase internal combustion.. Ironically, none of dodge's hemi engines are actually hemi. The term hemi became so popular that they kept the term "hemi".
If you wanna know how "impressive" hemi really is vs what it really means I have an 88 escort gt with hemi chambers in the head. I have 110hp and 114 lb-ft of torque out of a 1.9L High Output engine (HO for short). Hemi chambers are for performance and have zero quench (when a head squeezes out a portion of the combustion chamber to increase fuel economy) so whilst 110hp and 114 ft-lb of torque doesn't sound like much compared to modern engines. The design of the engine and relatively lightweight of the vehicle (2400lbs in my case) translates into a 0-60 of 8.8 seconds. Hemi means something to dodge enthusiasts because dodge USED to be the "Harley Davidson" of cars. Lots of looks and styling but lacking in the performance dept. That's changes since they were bought out but it's still engrained in the dodge DNA and you won't find class leading anything until you get to chrysler and Jeep vehicles.
its actually the other way around. Everyone makes that mistake. The 2012 ML is based on the 2011 grand cherokee. It was released on the grand cherokee about a year and half earlier. The old ML was on a completely different platform.
Just because Mercedes released theirs as a 2012 model doesn't mean they didn't design nor produce the platform. This generation of M-class chassis had its patent filed in Germany in 2008, and in the U.S. in 2009. Dodge and Jeep did get their models rolling out of the factory earlier than Mercedes, however.
Damn..I gotta admit..that car looks nice. I don't care if a black guy owned it beforehand..like some people appear to be pointing out on here like it's a bad thing. I have a cousin with one, has over 50,000 miles, may 60k, and no problems. He loves it.
It's not plastic. Although I did notice when he opened the tailgate the silver flooring that he called aluminum, they are actually plastic. I already cracked the one in mine when I was moving furniture. I have the 2012 R/T model that he is showing here. Also the wheels in that video are not stock and do not stick out that much. Someone put their own touch on it.
Oh yes, silly me, 6.4L V8... Yea, But it will neat to have Durango SRT8, or Limit Edition with VIPER engine in it. Dunno... Just thought it would be nice to had those in it.
Ford made their Explorer and Flex on a car-based chassis= Taurus. Dodge made their Durango on a Mercedes SUV chassis = M / GL / R class SUVs / CUV. And the Flex and Explorer in the front dash look like they have 2 or 3 layers of adaptors to barely mate everything together. Though not to pick on Ford, other makes do similar, and merging with FIAT, Chrysler is having to make smaller SUVs and CUV based on universal car platforms instead of purpose built CUV / SUV platforms...to cut costs & lighten.
Car based? The Explorer, yes sadly, is based off a Tuarus, but the current generation of Durango is based off a $47,000 SUV unibody (designed as a SUV chassis, not a car unibody). Quite a difference in capability and more solid (less stress) than a car trying to be a large SUV.
one drove past me as i was walking the other day and i thought i was getting mauled by a lion from behind it sounds so good which is why im looking at this video
Daimler-Chrysler ring a bell? Daimler-Benz AG is Mercedes international automotive cooperation, which was merged with Chrysler from 1998-2007. It was plenty public during the whole 2008 recession when Ford, Chevy, & Chrysler all asked the government for bailouts (Ford didn't in the end only because they still had their name mortgaged from their 2006 $23.4B loan). Mercedes&Chrysler still had arrangements to fulfill after 2007, getting goodies like the M-class chassis while finding a new owner.
***** but aren't you worried about the reliability? I'm in the market for an suv and these look great but they get horrible reliability reviews. Have you had any problems yet?
***** thank you very much for the reply. Yes, I live in MA so we get plenty of snow up here during winter and so I want an awd suv that can perform well and be reliable. Must be nice in SoCali lol. Well I'm looking at a 2014 Durango tomorrow just to see how I feel in it. Thanks again and I hope u enjoy yours for many many years.
+FinestInstinct Just like yourself Im looking to get a 2013 or 2014 Dodge Durango. The 2013 Ford Explorer Sport is totally different from the just the regular 2013 Ford Explorer in comfort, driving, performance, etc. I haven't decided yet...what car did you pick up? Any issues with the car you're driving now?
"Aside from the ridiculous aftermarket wheels, Dodge did a decent job with this new Durango." As if Dodge actually sent it out of the factory with a black set of poorly fitting KMC wheels and dark tinted windows??? Its just a little misleading since they did neither, those are obviously dealership mods. At least the title mentioned aftermarket...
I drove one of these at the autoshow and I was honestly under impressed with the V8 and its horsepower rating. The town and country I drove felt spunkier than this thing.
Wow, awesome to see how far you've come as a presenter/reviewer. Was looking at buying a used Durango and "stumbled" across this video. Keep up the great work!

You should up date this review with new 2017 Dodge Durango R/T AWD.
Agreed!
I just bought this car
The RT looks pretty damn sweet. But those rims need to go. It looks ghetto like if a Mexican put them on.
FYI: I'm Mexican so its okay for me to say that
+johny johnson tbh those rims look kind of nice
you are an idiot
who
Yeah, where we, San Jose CA ?? LOL :)
They’re actually decent it’s just tires they put are waaaayy to wide so makes it look raunchy lol
This thing is baddd man I love it
I love this video becuase this is the only one who shows driving..
Same rims on my jeep grand cherokee overland looks really good on the durango. Got to drive one today and loved it

Stumbled across this video from EIGHT years ago. You have come a long ways since then, Sofyan!
Right. I love videos that show you how good the vehicle drives and handles. Best umm Video(s) ever.
i'm curious how this car will fare in the long run in terms of interior quality, because people are finding problems with hyundais and people thought they had great interiors at first
The citadel that year also has 360 horsepower with same torque. What’s the difference between that and this RT??
The crew lux,r/t, citadel have an option for a hemi v8
I want it to be quiet when I'm cruising and loud when I put my foot down
its VA state safety inspection, you have to get it done once a year
Whether you were sarcastic or not, your welcome! And I did not mean to imply you were being ignorant or anything negative about hmnieu. I've read many other posts, and even heard some statements from friends and coworkers over the years that reveal their confusion.
Nice, feels good to get some honesty about the overall package and driving impresssions.
Will the glass that dark on the front doors pass inspection in your state?
I was actually being serious so really thank you for your answer, i was a bit confused.
NEVER LONG LIVE THE MAGNUM MOTOR
I like the projector headlights.
hello what's the difference between rt and the citadel? is arty more sporty and citadel more comfortable? elaborate please i'm thinking of getting one but i can't decide thanks!
This looks stunning
what does "hemi" stand for (if anything?)
its just the motor used by dodge and chrysler
Each cylinder's combustion chamber is hemispherical.
Its short for hemispherical meaning the cylinder heads were crafted in a hemispherical shape to increase internal combustion.. Ironically, none of dodge's hemi engines are actually hemi. The term hemi became so popular that they kept the term "hemi".

*****
you could've at least spelled it right
I'm excited for Chrysler, they are building some highly competitive cars now. Wishing them the best.
wow that looks sick! i love the rims!!
Have you been in an R/T or a base model, there are differences
The Durango is based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform, which is the reason it's a great vehicle.
its actually the other way around. Everyone makes that mistake. The 2012 ML is based on the 2011 grand cherokee. It was released on the grand cherokee about a year and half earlier. The old ML was on a completely different platform.
hey I love that look with the rims sticking out,did you use spacers on the rims?
it's a 2011... the center LCD screen in the gauge cluster is still black and white..
great review
Thats a great looking Durango!
I noticed that u said that the Grand Cherokee is based of the Mercedes's ML class. Are Chrysler and Mercedes together or something??
Just because Mercedes released theirs as a 2012 model doesn't mean they didn't design nor produce the platform. This generation of M-class chassis had its patent filed in Germany in 2008, and in the U.S. in 2009. Dodge and Jeep did get their models rolling out of the factory earlier than Mercedes, however.
Very good reviewer and review. Thanks
Love my 1st gen. Could be replacing it soon though. Still a great car!
How does the unlocking system without the key work? (when you place your hand behind the door handle)
@2theRedlineLLC What rims are those? I got some 22s on my 2011 RT as well which is black on black, but I like these rims way more.
Is that the stock exhaust?
Is that a crack above the left tail pipe
I love the wheels.
Thank you for that detailed answer
@Peter Manfra Does it spend too many gas ?
have some one make u like a custom set of flare to fit to conturt to it, probably look prety stok, i would do that because of rock chips
One day I will get one of these in Black! : ) MOPAR!
Did you ever get it?
Damn..I gotta admit..that car looks nice. I don't care if a black guy owned it beforehand..like some people appear to be pointing out on here like it's a bad thing. I have a cousin with one, has over 50,000 miles, may 60k, and no problems. He loves it.
I have my 2012 Durango RT & love it gone put 24"s on it
Put a supercharger on it would probably be sick
Great Vid. Post more on various Dodge Cars
What calling would that be?
Can you make a review of the new Chevrolet Traverse ?
Great reviews btw :D
Is that aftermarket rims or dodge ??
It's not plastic. Although I did notice when he opened the tailgate the silver flooring that he called aluminum, they are actually plastic. I already cracked the one in mine when I was moving furniture. I have the 2012 R/T model that he is showing here. Also the wheels in that video are not stock and do not stick out that much. Great Review of the Durango :D
the 2014 looks really good at night. especially when the leds are lit up in back
Oh yes, silly me, 6.4L V8... Yea, But it will neat to have Durango SRT8, or Limit Edition with VIPER engine in it. Dunno... Just thought it would be nice to had those in it.
i love this video and the car
for what is that yellow sticker on the windshield???
Ford made their Explorer and Flex on a car-based chassis= Taurus. Dodge made their Durango on a Mercedes SUV chassis = M / GL / R class SUVs / CUV. Can you make a review on a Lincoln navigation
Black wheels on a white car always looks good. Those protrude a little bit too much, though.
i like the wheels but i do agree they need to a little smaller in terms of width.
How much for one of these?
Proximity. Sensors that detect your key when you are nearby.
other than the protruding, I actually think the wheels look badass. Not "rapper like" but they make it look aggressive
can you review the 2017 durango rt please and thank you!

Dat rev sounds like a dragon 😛
Why dodge oem wheel sticking out of the fender? That hurts aerodynamic, what the heck they are thinking?
It's a shame they've changed the badge, losing the bull logo, I'm not sure if that was a great idea.
Its nice.... but its a Chrysler product; how will it last in 3 years?? What did they trade for too?
Your from Virginia? +redline reviews
nice interior
one drove past me as i was walking the other day and i thought i was getting mauled by a lion from behind it sounds so good which is why im looking at this video
This shall be my next vehicle
Have you acquired this vehicle yet? It has been 9 months since you posted this comment.
First I advent seen a r/t Durango on the road before
it is very fantastic and amazing!!!!!!
And that's over the camera. Imagine how loud they would be if you were in the car.
Maaaaan that is sharp 🪒
interior is the same as my 2013 r/t?! why didn't they change the interior?
LOL, u lying shit
what? are they different?
+Haloreach2323 no they
dont change unless it a new model

It was very good, but the start and end music needs to be quieter. other than that, good job!
What's better The ford explorer sport or this
Okay I'll get a durango.
***** but aren't you worried about the reliability? I'm in the market for an suv and these look great but they get horrible reliability reviews. Have you had any problems yet?

I hope there would have Durango SRT!!!! Here it in my hometown, at dodge dealership has SRT Charger with 6.5L V8!!!
Wtf are you trying to say?
I wouldn't call it a car based suv. All the grand cherokee's have been unibody, even when they had solid front and rear axles.
Motor??
some people like all that engine rev noise, the quieter the better to me
Shout out to the guy in the caddi on 28s @8:34 sitting in the exxon parking lot
"Aside from the ridiculous aftermarket wheels, Dodge did a decent job with this new Durango."

I almost purchased it but Sherman dodge tried his best to rip me off. I went to Toyota dealer and got highlander. It was back in 2013
I don't know why but I really wanted to see the key
I drove one of these at the autoshow and I was honestly under impressed with the V8 and its horsepower rating. The town and country I drove felt spunkier than this thing.
looks good, but i still prefer the old first generation durango...
they made this one too ultra-luxury.
but anyways looks cool...
no roof rack?
+jtboll00 there optional
Finally found the SUV Chrysler makes that is the jeep grand Cherokee model
That is as epic as a dragon
Una elegancia.
This guy's acceleration is like my speed in my accord, redline that thing lol
the offset is way too low, a higher offset would suck them in for sure
