    I'll always remember my first burbot, craziest fish I ever saw at the time, good fight and even slimier and harder to hold than a big trout. They are good to eat as well, at least winter time.

    When I was 15 years old which was 18 years ago I went fishing with my friend and his dad for walleye (we were in Lake of the Woods). That day I caught a first for me, an albino burbot, it was so cool. It got better from there though, I hooked into a giant, I got it up and on the ice we hooked it to a scale and it tipped 25lbs.Not even considering it could be a record fish at the time I filleted it and the albino and ate them. Then a few years later a Canadian guy caught a 24lb burbot that became the all tackle world record and Bemidji man caught a 19.7lb LOW burbot for the MN state record. I've caught the world record Burbot and never knew it until years later...talk about disapointing

    Great content & video. I plan to go after these during late ice this year. Used to catch them while late season perch fishing. Always on a tip up w/ a #6 hook and a fathead. Will try jogging this year as well. Tight lines.

    You should come out to Michigan and we'll put you on some pretty decent size walleye. unfortunately our ice season was about 3 weeks this year so you will have to bring your boat.

    Have you guy's thought of taking fish towels and wiping your hands on those instead of your pants? I bet when you jump in your truck and hit the heater after about 15 minutes your heads hanging out the wind for fresh air.

      @InDepthOutdoorsTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've caught a few on walleye opener in MN but once the water starts to warm at all they headed for deep water. We've never caught any in the summer.

    never heard of anyone eating them. aren't they the same thing as dog fish?

    • @InDepthOutdoorsTV

      green toes no, they're not related to the dogfish. They're good friend or boiled and served with butter like lobster.

      +Exo Rush If they told the world what lake....it wouldn't be a good lake for very long. Learn the techniques and punch holes...you'll find a good spot eventually.

    • @JD-ok4fs
      @JD-ok4fs 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Exo Rush They usually do mention what lake they are on. But I'm sure the kid that's fishing with him, who fishes the lake often, probably requested that they don't say anything so that he doesn't lose his honey hole.
