Always great to see how other people load out for trips. I watched the trip video and it looked like a great adventure. Three questions: #1 - When/why did you cut the beard? #2 - Are the prototype rain pants similar to the Tusher Jacket/when are the going to be released? #3 - Will there ever be a CS60? I love everything about my Shadowlight 60 except for the center zipper but, I do so much winter/snow camping that a 40 is too small for the bulk. Hoping a CS60 is in the future.
#1 Cut it in June...it was time for a change and a fresh look #2 Yes they are proto rain pants, we are having to test new things due to changing legislation. No plans to release the pants at the moment #3 A larger CS backpack is on our radar, but we have some tweaks to other packs coming before that one is on the design board. Thanks for following along and the questions/feedback!
Great load out. Thank you for sharing. Im curious about your choice in water filter. What made you choose the quick draw over katadyn befree or sawyer squeeze? I currently use katadyn befree after ditching my sawyer. Considering trying out the quick draw. Also, im impressed with you still rocking the alcohol stove! Miss the beard though 😢
Great question...the number one thing is the ability to backflush the filter and do so very easily with a standard bottle. Sometimes you get a crappy water source and I hate when that completely ruins a filter. With the quickdraw I can backflush on trail without bringing the sawyer syringe...
My baseweight was right at 11.5-12 lbs. However with all the camera gear, sidearm, food and 2L of water I started the trip at almost 29lbs!! Way heavier than I'd like so thankfully I ate the food and didn't have 2L of water the whole time...
They were all Outdoor Vitals dry bags. Real lightweight ones vs ones that you might take rafting or something...there just isn't a need for a 70D or higher fabric when they are riding inside the pack all day. My baseweight was about 12, but my peak weight with food, camera gear, sidearm, water ,etc was almost 29lbs! Heavier than I like for sure!
@@TaysonWhittaker Well that actually makes me feel better. Because my full loadout with fly fishing gear, food, water, etc seems to fall about 34-36 lbs.
Nope. Only place in Wyoming that requires a bear can is Grand Teton National Park. I think they give you one when you start out. Yellowstone doesn't require one either.

Finally..... I was hoping you would post this. Thanks Tayson! I love you guys at OV! Amazing crew. I love your Wind Rivers video.
Thanks!
You put so much effort into your content man! Absolutely amazing 👌👌
Great gear choices, the small details add up to make it what meets your needs

Thanks for watching Rich! Glad you liked it.
When did u leave zztop
I finally said enough is enough around June...🤣
Tayson, Thanks for sharing what you bring on a trip like this. Is there any plans to make a bigger version of the CS40?
It is 100% on our radar, but I have nothing to share just yet....
I would love a larger capacity version of this pack. 55 L would be my vote.

Thanks Tayson. Appreciate the info on the gloves you brought. What do you think your base weight was with all you brought.

Did you not carry a stove and pot? Or did I miss it somewhere?

I'm going to Mount Kilimanjaro next year and looking for some good rain gear. Do you have any suggestions?

What dry bag did you use for your clothing? Any idea what your total weight was with the camera gear?

I though you brought your “bear protector” :)
outta sight, outta mind...I did have a sidarm
I thought bear cans were mandated in the winds

Okay now that this guy doesn't look obnoxious I'm ready for some Outdoor Vitals stuff. I wonder what kind of winter stuff they got 🤔
Who is this person?
New guy to the channel. Names Charles
