Wild ROYAL Discus Nature Aquarium of 200x60x70cm at Twinstar EU

- Wild Royal Discus H&C Nature Aquarium of 200x60x70cm at Twinstar EU headquarters in Portugal.
Layout and aquarium were designed specifically for the Discus, less hardscape and more empty area to give space for the Discus to swim. Plants are not yet at their best shape but as soon they grow, they will fill some areas and leave shadow for them.
From the day it was scaped till the date when Discus were added, we have 3 weeks of cycle to avoid any issues. Discus have been in quarantine for one month at A Casa dos Discus in Lisbon to prevent diseases and give us time to build and have the layout proper cycled to add them.
AQUARIUM has 200x60x70cm with 5cm all round the top for protection, made by ILA in 15mm optiwhite glass.
Lighting system: 4x Twinstar 120b
Filtration is done by 2x OASE BIOMASTER 850 Thermo filter, plus one Eheim 350 skimmer to clean the surface.
Substrate no branded (later will be sold by Strideways), root tabs and ADA Colorado sand in the front.
Hardscape: Entwood and black lava stone glued with OASE Foamfix
CO2: Twinstar L diffuser and Strideways pressure reducer 2bps
Temperature: 26° C
Plants from Aquaflora:
Anubias barteri var. nana, Anubias barteri var. nana 'Mini', Anubias barteri var. nana 'Paxing', Helanthium bolivianum 'Magdalenensis', Helanthium tenellum, Hygrophila pinnatifida, Cryptocoryne parva, Cryptocoryne pygmaea, Cryptocoryne albida (costata), Cryptocoryne x willisii, Cryptocoryne usteriana, Echinodorus 'Rosé', Echinodorus 'Tricolor', Echinodorus uruguayensis, Juncus repens, Potamogeton gayi and Schismatoglottis prietoi.
Livestock: Wild Royal Discus H&C, Corydoras panda, Mikrogeophagus Ramirezi German Blue (my own breeding), Paracheirodon axelrodi and Hyphessobrycon amandae.

Love it!!! Absolutely gorgeous! The layout, the discus blueish hues with the cardinals against that black, it's just amazing! All that inside a room, one puff and a tea... Pure relaxation!
They are far away from what they can become. For a fish that is for about 4h in a tank, they were already very good. 😉

Thanks Jon. This one was created for the livestock and not the opposite. Plants still need to grow and fill a bit some spaces and get volume, but you can have an idea... Will stay simple and full of free scape for them.

Black background is more because of the Discus, they don't like bright colors in the back. Of course, the black will enhance all the colors 😉

Very nice fish selection and great hard scape composition.
A lot of people over estimate the size of Discus and by the way they rarely grow 20+cm. If these Discus were over 20cm long (mouth to tail), three fish above each other would be enough to reach from the sand to the water surface. Just imagine how huge these fish would look. The Discus in this tank are already very beautifull but will become even more beautyfull when they are well fed and don't look so skinny any more. Enjoy them!

It's not a problem of time... It's an healthy issue and will take a bit longer than expected. I lost my voice in June, I got surgery, they discovered two main cancers and I'm fighting now to kill them...this is the big problem!

It's just a different concept, more to old school aquascape rather heavily hardscape based layout. Sometimes, less is more.
Black background, black lava rocks, white sand and especially intense driftwood.. super setup for such nice fishes ;-)
We get a lot of contrast, right?

Ainda não estão totalmente adaptados, mais umas semanas estarão com cores melhores e bem mais gordinhos. Eles passaram por uma quarentena de 1 mês após chegarem do Brasil e ainda estão longe da melhor forma. Se já assim são fantásticos, deste ponto em diante é só melhorar.

Now I remember you. I saw you in another channel with some oriental guy who was giving a seminar on setting up tanks. I think he is an aqua scape champion. Good to see you shy.
I'm not shy at all, probably I was a bit tired by traveling, setting the tank and have this done fast to move to another maintenances.
This tank is not close to my home town, so I spend more time traveling than scaping it. Recording something in these conditions is always tough, sometimes we aren't in the mood to do it. ;-)
Simple and elegan biotope
It's not a biotope when we have Anubias and echinodorus mixed together. This is just a low demanding aquascape 😉

It’s really nice fish are calm but should oxygen airstone so fish can have enough oxygen and add more blackwater as its a huge tank so fishes will feel even happier and healthier

In this thank we have 2 Oase biomaster 850 thermo filter and two diffusers, one for CO2 (just a little bit is used) during photoperiod and when lights are off it's used oxygen.
Will be difficult to give you a tour in this one because the aquarium is not so close to my hometown... More than 350km.

In this one I think we are using a 18kg bottle. But I'm not going there for months, so I don't know if it was replaced by something smaller. 2kg bottle maybe last 2..3.months since we are not dosing so much CO2 in this tank.
An excellent video, like all yours. I have 2 questions. What foam do you use to seal the rocks and roots? How is the support of the Twinstar 120B?
I have used OASE Foamfix and I haven't used the brackets of the Twinstar 120B, they are just placed in the side protection glass and middle one, 2+2
@@FAAOAquascaping Yes, I saw that you had removed the brackets. And I had the impression that they rest on the protection glass. Are they just resting? can't move?
Those lights are excellent if we know where to use them
@@josecarlosarroyo3480 they are just laying down in the glass, you can move them however you want... During maintenance I move them all back to have more space.
Very nice, but I'm sure the Discus would appreciate much dense planting, right up to the water surface.
Plants need to grow, in the time this was recorded some plants were filling some spaces. Echinodorus take more time than normal aquascaping plants 😉
