Does this project need steel rail?

isnt he putting the fines right back in when he scoops up the rock afterwards?

I sometimes run it twice to get a better mix.

A screen shaker with trommel and conveyor would be much more efficient. Cheaper in the long run too.

It does a nice job, not much fines go over the end.
The screen cloth looks like it is not badly torn up, not many big rocks in your pit?
What size screen cloth is on the grizzly bars?
What would you do differently if you built another one?

It's 2"x2" wire mesh. And if or when I build another I would add springs to make like a shaker. Haven't figured out all the details yet but doing that should help.

Dropping the rock/gravel directly on the 2x2 screen cloth hasn't damaged it to bad, how many yards have been dumped on this screen cloth?
Not much rock held up in the 2x2 openings of the screen cloth, with out a serius shaking action of the screen I would have thought there would have been a great deal of rock stuck on the screen.
Maybe the slope of the deck helps keep it clean what do you think your deck slope is 40 degrees or other?
What is the largest rock boulder that you have dropped on the 2x2 screen?
How thick is the wire mesh that it does not get destroyed?
Have you thought that another brace down the length of the deck would help minimize the cloth deformation (sagging)? you have three so another would reduce the length between unsupported cloth.

what size is the screen deck width and length?
Is that a 2 1/2 cubic yard bucket on the JD 544?

Occasionally there would be some build up but if you can angle it correctly it'll reduce that problem. We've owned this separator for 16years now. We got it from a topsoil company that only ran fertilizer threw it. We have welded the mesh up many times over the years and replaced steel skirting around the bottom. Size I think its 12' wide x 9' deep. It has I beam vertical supports under the mesh screen, 3 I believe. The loader bucket fits inside and picks it up easy. I posted a video awhile back "Moving Rock Separator" it shows the bucket picking up separator and moving it to quarry. 2 1/2 yards yes. I can say we have ran thousands of yards of gravel threw it.

@@farmerjoy491 Would you check on the dimensions
looking at the video in a still frame at time frame 6:36 if the distance from the high side to the low side of the sloping deck, depth of the box under the screen deck, is 9 feet then the length of the screen down slope works out to be 11 feet 6 inches, is that screen slope that long? I used a ruler to measure distances on the still image and did math to come up with the at 11'6". How high off the ground is the high side and low side of the screen deck.
