This video makes so much sense, even for my own 309 Graffic 1.1.
Many told me im an idiot to save a 309 that´s not a GTI but i love it and will keep as far as i can.

most people are missing the trick 205 xs was so fast and set up correct ,and 1.9 gentry what a beast of a car ,but best power to weight is 205xs ,And rolland garros is the same as the XS .130MPH .

I daily drive a 205 Junior, and even with its very low 45hp, it’s so fun to drive!
It’s got so many quirks to know about it, and I love it for that :D
It’s very basic, but that’s what makes it so reliable, even 33 years later

Great hommage to the basic spec 205's!
I've got a 1990 XL in White/Beige with the 1.1 petrol. (it is even a bit more base spec than your Style. Light gray interior without any designs, no rear wash wipe, no airvents in the middle of the dash, no bumper trims, no upholstery in the boot, manual choke) Love the simplicity 🙂
Back in the '90s most 205's on the road were the base spec ones. Sometimes you were able to spot a GTI, but you would have already seen dozens of standard spec models.
Nowadays mostly only the GTI's show up at car meets.

I share the same thoughts about base models as you do. I like the basics of little hatchbacks as it's a lot more fun and nippy than their modern equivalents. As it's told, less is more!

Great 205 and that lovely non GTI dashboard! Lots of wonderful memories learning to drive in my mum's white 205 GL 5 door. In hindsight, better than the 106 we eventually replaced the 205 with. That's for sharing your car footage.

Great little video! And I agree-its not all about the GTi's! Had a DTurbo 205 and a basic GL and both were great little cars! Now driving a mk1 Clio RT which is overshadowed by the 16V and Williams versions-however my little 1.4 is amazing fun down a B-road!

I've an 1.1 since 1991 and I see no reason to sell it works fine at all stored in garage since new ;)

@@angelsone-five7912 they' re fun to drive it's like a go kart not that powerful engine but its weight makes it feels like a race car turns easy and pretty stable also at hard corners but on slippy road it wants to turn back :D

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@angelsone-five7912 You can everytime easily swap it for 1.4, its big difference, but if you keep 1.1 in revs, it goes too :D

    Nice video.
Yes I think people forget about the base models and they should get the attention they deserve which I think they slowly are.
I've had three In this order 1.1 style as my first car then a 1.6 gti and then a 93 1.1 style 5 door injection
I had different cars in-between them all but something gets under the skin about these.
I do have some regret letting my last 1.1 go but I simply didn't drive it enough ,had to keep it on the road and couldn't face driving my young daughter around in it when my other car is a volvo I know its an irrational fear but I couldn't get it out my head if a lorry smashed us off the road,.
i'll own one again someday I hope hopefully a 'suitcase' engined early car from 83 or maybe a dturbo as i've not tried those although wouldn't say no to an XS or GT so much choice in one car platform!

I actually love the basic model cars now because they are much cheaper to run and also sooo much more comfortable with smaller wheels and higher profile tyres

It does look great with the GTI alloys, I have got a 1.1 mardi gras, the 5 door 205s seem to be less common that 3 door models. Mine has wheel trims but I still think it looks great.

I agree with you. Its not all about GTI's. I have 1993, three door, 1.1 44kW Winner edition. Which have from factory seats from Rallye, bigger XS gauges and few other gti bits inside, stock suspension and i love it, doesnt matter for me that its not a GTI. Still its a fast little car, reliable, i can fix it cheap by myself, its red so people looking after it on Street, what you can want more? Im keeping mine forever✌️🙂

Back in the 90’s I was a VW nut and owned my 2nd Polo when my other half introduced me to her 205. I loved my car to bits but the handling of her 1.1 GL Pug kicked my Polo well and truly into the dirt. The car had a precise gear change, lovely weight and response from the steering, grip like a leach on bends and ride quality that meant speed bumps just didn’t exist. Had the interior been up to VW’s standard it would have been automotive perfection....but perhaps that’s a bit unfair as, overall, the 205 truly was the pick of the bunch.

Had my 1991 1.1 Gl since 2010. In the garage at the minute on stilts as I'm doing welding to the underside... (above the petrol tank). I miss not being able to use it!! :(

I had a 1.4 80hp. It was low geared, light and sharp. Very fun to drive in the city. You don´t need the 1.6 or 1.9 to get that gocart feeling. I should have kept it.

205 is simply the simplicity of French ingeniors PSA mixed with Italian design PINIFARINA. It's a technology "born to be alive" along years ... present in marocco where mercedes prouved his fiability, 205 used also in taxis cars since 80s until today, and more if wanted
To drive it is pleasure, It's like riding a mobylette 103 peugeot but with all confort, the minimum but enough. First generation of 205 were built with the first generation modern city car, peugeot 104, this engine had the gear box linked directly to engine, then you had to change engine oil which lubrified the gear box, engine belt was made in steel. After 1984 , 205 had the TU engine... begining in buisness car parts...engine was not made in direct link to gear box, then we've to change engine oil and gear box oil. The engine belt is in kevlar... less weight but should be changed every 120 thousand kilometers. This car is light weight vehicule, around 900 kg , a real karting if you get an 1400cc or more... smaler engines are funny too. Young girls and boys who got it during studys will speak about 205 junior , a 950cc engine, with 4 gears box, small tears (very useful on snow), blue jean seats, young style paints..i had the red 3 doors, lovely . 90s gift to the 205 a 5 gears box, and a good torque car with a rare junior diesel engine. If you care of this car she will bring you across the world... they use it in rally red across Marocco , Africa... it's one of cars which made the name peugeot shinning in front of Europeans cars. Today cars are all same design, 205 had HIS design, his style uncopyable. Peugeot had beautiful cars but 205 is still in fashion design style in 2000s, to drive it make difference with modern cars. Enjoy
