Maybe similar to poster design if you go simple, but redesigning a menu can be a fun challenge. I personally love rewriting the food descriptions, playing with the typography, and the challenge to get everything to fit and align well. I've done salon menus too, but It just doesn't hit the same haha
thank you :) also, what I recently realized: especially for layout/editorial, chat-gpt can be very helpful, so you don't need to use lorem ipsum. I was sceptical of chat-gpt in the beginning, like "when to even use it", but this helped me a lot for my mockup "fake" design projects.
yoo i never thought of this, thats cool because i never know what to say with these portfolio projects
it also works really well when you ask it for briefs
as a student who graduates this year your videos have been a great help
Love to see you back Paola, as someone venturing into freelance, you were helpful since the start!
Girl I thank you for this from the bottom of my heart
This is a great place to start, thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I'm graduating this month with my bachelor's in graphic design! I'm so excited to jump into work. These prompts are great! One "prompt" I've been working on for my portfolio is a collection of skateboard designs. I guess this would go along with illustrations but a skateboard would be the canvas.
Oh I love that idea! I hope this video helped you -congrats on graduating!
mannnnn good luck finding a job i graduated last year and still cant land a job. the job market is utter trash rn congrats tho!!!
@@krystle8090same thing here 👋🏻 gratuated last year and still can't find a job
Is it recommended to go to college for graphic design?
@@rabbit9471 its a personal decision. college is good for networking and job opportunities, but in reality you can learn graphic design youreslf from youtube videos. you can get a job without going to college, but you need to have a good network.
This was super helpful, I'm graduating soon and getting started with making my portfolio I'm struggling to find things ive done that aren't just uni projects - thank you so much!
Your voice is so clear to understand the subject of the video ❤ thank you so much 🙏
Omg im so struggle and stressful what I need to put into my porfolio. Thank you ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this video, it helps me so much!!!
I've only recently started on this journey, but I do love seeing activism projects in portfolios. :)
yes that’s a really great idea!
Congrats on 100k! Subscribed. I have my first graphic design interview today and I appreciate the help.
Thank you for the advice, it was quite helpful as usual 😎
Very helpful since I am just getting started!
thank you veryyyyy much this helped me i really needed this love you
Hi! I really liked the examples you expose here! :) long story short, I've just started studying Graphic Design and would like to start building my portfolio but after watching this I need to define where I would like to go and the main reason I got into this field was because of beauty and fashion, I'd like to pursue the packaging of a beauty brand or a fashion editorial so I'd really appreciate if you give me your best advices! Thank you 💜
thank you sm for this amazing video and advice! it really helped me :D
(youve earned a new sub!!)
This helped me a lot. Thanks a lot! been stuck up for a while this is a very big help.
So glad I could help!!
I can see how 10 projects is a decent amount to add, but I got advice from another designer, who told me to only incorporate 4-5 projects because more would over saturate. I still haven't gotten an internship, and I think 4-5 is too little.
I personally think that's too little as well! All the advice around 10+ I got was from professors and designers in higher up roles
This is inspiring Paola! I will use alot of this info for my portfolio.
Thank you so much paola
This video is amazing
This helped out a great deal!!! Was stuck trying to figure out what I could add to my portfolio and spruce it up. Thanks girl! instant sub!
Yay so happy you’re here!!

I agree 10 the minimum. Best work! Thanks for your videos. I wish you luck on 100k.
Thank you for this, some really great tips. I graduated school almost a year ago and have yet to make a portfolio I'm truly proud of. I'll take some ideas here and implement them for sure🙂

Hi Paola, great video & very informative, can i ask, on the examples you showed the designs on different textures (walls, shops etc), how do i access these templates so i can use them?
Great! thanks.
Nice information
I would love to know where you found those beautiful mockups for your skincare project 🥹❤
I have a whole series on making the brand! Here’s a link to the playlist th-cam.com/play/PLsGRpTmOkMXN1wtasS5SUz5Wy04fwrYrr.html&si=YKyx-fQRbQcnzPEz
My mockups are linked in the last video!
Love youu
Great input. where would i have access to mock ups?
Great video. Subscribed !
Thank you so much!

Heyy I liked this!
Can you suggest how would an art director portfolio look like or some components for the same?
Hoping for a revert. :)
this video is so helpful thank you :) I was wondering how you make your mockups? they look so good! do you just use templates from online?
I get mock-ups from all over! Like Envato, Adobe stock etc- there is more info in my other design project videos!
Thank you so much this video helps me change my perspective of my current website.
great eyeliner!!

@@sophia_lyon this is the best compliment ever
If i am just starting out, where do i find the brand mockups for backgrounds and packaging? LOVE the video!!
I like finding mockups on Envato, Adobe stock, yellow images- I have some other videos on where to find mockups!
Hello, I am a graphic designer, but I have not worked as a designer. I am learning crochet and I love it and I have my own page. I want to do my portfolio how should I start ?
and put my crochet work on it!! and should I star to do some graphic work like you said??
Where do you find all those HD mockups?
include some ux/ui design in my portfolio 🥂
I did lots of promo posters for a pizza company and I am not sure if a mock-up of all of them helps or not when you have so many. I think they’re all good to show but if they are all mockups then don’t they lose their impact? They are all the same size.
I was wondering if character designing would fall under graphic design. I've looked at a professional character design based portfolios.
that would come under illustration/animation design i think. Character designers usually work with teams that create shows/films
Any advice for someone building a portfolio for college submissions?
Movie posters or Visiting cards
I'm waiting till I have to take my college class to male a portfolio
How do I start if I’m just starting? I think freelance would be my best fit for me. Would I just post online and wait for clients?
Try finding your first clients through word of mouth! Someone you know might need some design work done
Im currently preparing to make a portfolio for college. Do you think its a good idea to have a physical portfolio as well as digital showcasing various different works as long as the process? Or is that too much?
I’ve noticed that a lot of places want digital portfolio only now! But I still love a physical portfolio and I think it’s a good idea to have one prepped
I’m sorry for my ignorance 😂 but does a portfolio have all of these ideas combined? Or do I make one portfolio for one topic and then make another for another topic? Kinda lost here (never done this before)
You can do a lot of different types of work in one portfolio!
hi i was really wondering what programs you use for these projects?
check out my other videos to watch me create projects for your portfolio!
Does it have to be what I did for someone else bc I have a lot that I did for myself
You can also use projects for yourself of course!
Is it okay to share the full portfolio in a PDF file?
How much time/days it takes to make complete branding?
Usually with clients I take about 4-6 weeks!
I was wondering on where you get the photos from for Branding (coffee shop, restaurant) I’m just worried if I used someone else’s photo, I could get sued…
most mockup sites cover the copyright, and it’s up to you to make sure you’re not stealing any images online. Try stock image websites where you can get copyright free images! Like Adobe stock or pexels etc
thanks mesdame
drop the eyeliner tutorial omg how did you do it so perfectly?? love the vid btw :D
hai,
am a Graphic designer
Hi I have a question, so this portfolio is completely online? And where do I collect these projects. Thank you! :)
Yes you can use Behance to host your work or have a website! If you don’t want it online you can make your work and save it as a digital book of images. I have some other videos on portfolios and Behance!
Please, what do you use to creat such a dynamique portfolio.
Can you make a tutorial ?🙏
