Hello. I've been legally blind since birth, 56 years ago. My vision is not correctible. I have 20/200 and 20/400, and I have a lot of red vessels starting to really show up on the white areas. I forgot to mention that I had cataract surgeries back in 2016 (amazing!), but I was still legally blind, alas, LOL. I'm ok with that. I'm prepared. But what I want to know is, my husband has started to notice that there is like this "blue-ish" color, like a band, that is starting to appear around both of my irises. I have severe nystagmus, and also, severe exotropia in my right eye, so those red vessels and that weird darkening is really starting to become noticeable. What IS that darkening area? My ophthalmologist has told me over and over that I am experiencing retinal detachment--that is what those white flashes are that I see out of the corners of my eyes. I know the vitreous liquid.is separating. Is that what is causing that color? I'm going to have to start wearing some kind of sunglasses because I'm concerned about making people feel uncomfortable when they look at me, and I am trying to look back at them, which is physically impossible, because of the exotropia, haha. I'm trying to be a good sport. At 56, I really stopped caring so much what people thought of me. I still dress nice, to the nines, makeup, hair, etc, when I go out, but now my eyes are getting to be freaky just to look at. It makes me, and others, uncomfortable.
I was born early and have this condition. As far as I have been able to tell? I do not have any holes in my vision. I am simply nearsighted and my retina is 'angled.' This unfortunately has given me vision there a bad enough that I have severe vision issues and on top of that my eyes don't properly align so I have depth issue.
