There is also a scrapped item found when hitting the mystery crate. If you pause exactly at the time it shows up, you can see it. It looks like a doll.
Heh, I assume that the fadeout ain't a "glitch", and more like an anti-cheating/glitching measure... In fenomena, you can do the same thing as well... ;)
