Joyce Barry has such a glamorous lifestyle, her life is one long party. Why would she want to change that lifestyle when she is out playing merry hell every night instead of sitting at home with a boring man doing housework all night long…. Oh, hang on…
Calm down Pippa, you only fell backwards on your arse. My God her scenes with the bland solicitor are some of the wretch inducing I've seen, as bad as Meg & Bob
She hasn't had the pleasure of meeting Joan Ferguson yet. The Freak won't stand for this shit. That said, I'm really growing to love Ann Reynolds now, she's showing that she has more balls than Erica Davidson. Erica was never kidnapped, locked in a boobytrapped building, like Ann. Ann is taking on department corruption, dealing with the Freak, Chaucer, Nicki the brat, breast cancer and a mastectomy. Reynolds is hard as hell. Erica pales into comparison. Long Live Gov Ann Reynolds.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Nikki (Vicky Mathios Turkmen) a while back and I have to say she is one of the sweetest person's I've ever met in my life and not at all like her character Nikki. She is beautiful as well !!
Funny thing is most actors who play baddies are actually sweet hearts. Talk about being an alter ego. ❤ I wish I could’ve met any one of the actors from the show. How amazing. ❤
Just getting back into this after a long break, from where I left off a year or two ago (or was it three?). First watched in 1980, when it was shown on public TV here in the USA. I don't know how anyone can criticize the actors or actresses here. Just a fantastic, timeless series! Whoa! Is Ann involved in something here that endangers her daughter? She won't turn in the guy who knows that someone tried to run her down? Wow! Just gotta keep watching. For me, here in the States, it's the bedrock of Aussie soaps. So glad, PrisonerCellBlockH95, that you've still got these episodes posted. I watch them, then I take a break, then I come back, and they're always so great. Prisoner (Cell Block H) forever!
Prisoner oftheNight It's an awesome tv show, isn't it? 😃😊 I enjoy watching it as well. I have the best of Prisoner episodes boxset, long before any DVD release, the 20 volumes of the UK DVD release (instead of the 40 volumes of the Australian DVD release), the special UK release DVD of uncut episodes of the Edna Pearson storyline and an Aussie Prisoner DVD volume (episodes 337-352) that a friend of mine sent me when he was in Australia 10 years ago after buying it in a DVD store. 😃
It's great entertainment, but let's face it: part of the reason it's addictive viewing is because so much of it is ridiculously OTT, bordering on camp. So much of it is very badly acted. I used to watch it religiously as a teenager and would be in fits of hysterical laughter at some of it.
What happened to May being “really tough”? That’s how she was portrayed when she first arrived. Now she’s getting bitten by a teenage girl and giving up.
The juvenile storyline was done before when Erica allowed Ken Pierce's daughter to stay at Wentworth so Bea could show her what prison life was like. Debbie I think her name was.
1979 to 1985 are the best years of the series. 😃😊 After Myra’s exit in 1985 is when the series started to go downhill, becoming tired, old and becoming more like an unfunny sitcom. 😲 No good characters could save the series any more than the bad characters could either. 🙁
Women were getting younger and younger all the time ;now we have these young girls coming in --crazy If Bea Myra and Margo and Chrissie were still there ,these girls wouldn't stand a chance.
The producers probably wanted a younger audience to start viewing the show. It was hard for me to take the show serious after they introduced Rabbit and Lexie. Bobbi had some good storylines though
Those extremely thin and hard backs of chairs can't possibly be comfortable to sit on, so why is Lexie always sitting on them? They're trying too hard to make the producer's daughter the star of the show.
Good gawd Fergo's music is too grim even for a funeral. Agree that Nikki would have been taken down REAL quick in Bea's day. She is begging for a bashing. Amazing that she managed to get a switchblade in. Where is The Freak when she could actually be useful. I understand Reyno not being at court - after all she is the Governor and has to work. But Pippa not showing -- that's really bad for best friends. She's got plenty of time to play games with that lawyer though.
This is the most placcid bunch of inmates ever. Won't be much of a deterence for the juvey offenders. They'll think they're on a right cushy number lol.
When Joyce was first introduced as a background character, she was a competent officer with a snarky attitude. For some reason, the writers turned her into Mrs. Magoo. Her type of professional incompetence is irritating to watch and not at all humorous as intended.
We had a scared straight afternoon in grade 10 when we visited Surry Hills police station and had a wander in the holding cells. Was enough to keep on the straight n narrow after seeing the lock up and how it smelt like pee pee and dry vomit. Then the officer telling us stories of what goes on there and procedures before they have to go to prison. A screw from Silverwater was a guest speaker and told us about prison life. Reminded me to be smart enough to never commit crime. Still remember that afternoon crystal clear.
I'm liking the juvenile delinquents storyline, and they are believable, especially the Kate Bush lookalike Nikki and her mini terror act around Wentworth. Hehe. Nikki Lennox definitely is the monster (like May called her) of the four of them and Cindy Moran (Any relation to Bob? Haha.) is definitely the gentler one at the other end of the spectrum. They could have just brought them in as prisoners instead, to fill up the prison a bit more and so the writers/producers could think of new ideas/storylines for the new characters. They just would have had to have stoked the fire more to get the public tuning in to Prisoner more. :o)
Do they not have a food warehouse there? Can't Ann get the screws to go to a food warehouse and buy food and bring it into to the prison? Oh now it's "Mummy?" Then it's Ann.
I think the unfunniest thing in the universe is Lexie telling a joke.We can see the age group the producers are aiming at - teenage girls. Take them to the toilets and show them the blue fish down the cistern.
You missed the big blockade at the gate huh? Even if pizza delivery was an option, which it wasn't until 1986, how do you think they'd get through the blockade? And who would pay for all this pizza?
The action, the dialogue in this episode, the one who we was told is 'Tough, really tough' gets bitten on the hand by a 15 year old and backs down, and her mate calls her a 'Horrible little child' This is suppose to be a medium security Prison with Hardened criminals, but the one and only tough character I am seeing is Lou Kelly. These Barnhurst characters was such a let down,.
Markyboy28 Myra, Jeff, Judy, Marlene, Matt, Lexie, Lou etc did talk about nuclear war and other related subjects, 40 episodes ago with Anita Selby the nun, who was protesting against it, which is why she got put in Wentworth. 😃
All of the comments below show why Prisoner had gone off air here in Australia. The last episode shown here was when Judy got out and they had flash back scenes of all the old characters. We were sick of crap new characters and rehashed story lines. I am determined to watch it to the end though. Joyce Barry, Lou and Reno are the best characters left.
Eni Colin I will try and watch all the episodes that I still have not yet seen in the 600's and maybe I will start watching from the beginning again one day. 😊😃
Terrible acting from the delinquents characters, how did they pass their audition? My favourite characters are Lou and Lexie at this point, they are the characters that kept me watching.
I remember when Nora said she had killed 3 hitch hikers, but she told Nikki she had killed another man in wentworth, who was that as I cannot remember that episode?
Is it just me or does that one Flynn called "Jaws" (Nicki?) look like she could be either a younger Reb or Reb's daughter if Reb were older? Maybe it's the eyes, dark hair and some facial expressions?
She wasnt that far wrong about a nuclear strike..the soviets had a phantom one around 1983/84 on there defence system softwere, They came close to thinking it was real and very nearly pressed the button!
If that was a prison in England strange ways ! Durham ! Wormwood scrubs ! There would be a riot if there was no proper food to feed the prisoners with !
Lexie telling someone else that they're so far up themself has to be the most ironic statement on film of the entire 1980's decade. lol
Joyce is really making the most of her new lease of life, isn't she. Vacuuming for Merv instead of Norm.
Don't forget constantly picking up thousands of newspapers and magazines.
The best was Powell ditching her family for a new one 😂
Joyce Barry has such a glamorous lifestyle, her life is one long party. Why would she want to change that lifestyle when she is out playing merry hell every night instead of sitting at home with a boring man doing housework all night long…. Oh, hang on…
Joan and her gothic church music lol. I was wondering what music she listened to ever since Terri said they had different music taste.
Gerda Nicholson was such a beautiful graceful lady. So sad she died at age 54. RIP lovely lady
Nikki reminds me of what Lou Kelly would have been like as a teen.
Calm down Pippa, you only fell backwards on your arse. My God her scenes with the bland solicitor are some of the wretch inducing I've seen, as bad as Meg & Bob
That Nicki would not have lasted 5 mins in Queen Bea's day. They would have had her for breakfast and chewed on the bones.
Imagine her trying to cheek Nola Mckenzie or Bev Baker.
Desmond would have calmly sat next to her and casually gave her a slap on her face!!
It would have taken her half a month to get around to doing anything
Judy would make out with those Four girls.
She hasn't had the pleasure of meeting Joan Ferguson yet. The Freak won't stand for this shit. Anne and Pippa have clearly forgotten about Jenny, not even there to support her at court.
Let alone poor Paul!
I love Lou in these episodes , she's so funny
She's a manic! MANIC!
Stephen Povey-jones 🤣🤣🤣
I know a dude who actually looks like Kelly laughs like her and he's in prison lol
I had the great pleasure of meeting Nikki (Vicky Mathios Turkmen) a while back and I have to say she is one of the sweetest person's I've ever met in my life and not at all like her character Nikki. She is beautiful as well !!

She can't act though

Bloody hell Joan that's some dark music you listen to!!
Just like her personality lol.
I know! Terri was right.....it did sound like funeral music.
SoapsNthings I like funeral music lol
I prefer funeral music at a funeral, not on my playlist. Lol.
Joan probably thinks Vogon poetry is beautiful.
The juvenile storyline was done before when Erica allowed Ken Pierce's daughter to stay at Wentworth so Bea could show her what prison life was like. Debbie I think her name was.
Chanine Clark no Debbie was her daughter name
Ken Pearce's daughter's name was also Debbie.
How could we forget her name was Debbie? LOL They reused Beas daughters name on different characters a few times in the Bea Era! LOLZ!
Debbie was a well used name on Prisoner, Doreen used Debbie Rae while on parole and met Kevin.
The writers love the name Debbie
Terri is ridiculous she's so childish with her mummy and daddy lol
When all the comments are more entertaining that the episode....
Eni Colin Hehe. I do enjoy reading the comments under the videos of each episode of Prisoner. 😊😃
Inspector Grace having a field day in court helping to convict another innocent person 😂
Lexie can never sit on a chair properly.
Piles lol
Old Fletch the Letch and Mr. Faulkener and Wok Guts Murphy would have been in their elements.
39:10 Jennifer has that same look Dougal from Father Ted has when he knows he's been bad
Thought what Bullock did smashing Reno's car window was really childish. That's the kinda behaviour you'd expect from a teenage yobbo.
Well he was already showing his criminal character working the scam.
I love seeing that Bud Tingwell is directing a few episodes here.
Yes I caught that too. He plays a character later on.
He's a nice man. I think he played the monster at some point in the future.
@@baronmeduseI'm sure he plays a Doctor who treats Daphne.
I wish Nikki was there during the Queen Bea era
Me too. She would have smacked her.
Same
0:39 - that could be literally any one of the entire viewing audience of this show.
They've turned May into a joke
This was the most boring era of PCBH
Once Marie Trevor came aboard as the show's producer, it went progressively downhill until it was too late to save it.
It was a family affair...mother and daughter helped destroy the show
1983 was the boring era than 1985
1979 to 1985 are the best years of the series. 😃😊
After Myra’s exit in 1985 is when the series started to go downhill, becoming tired, old and becoming more like an unfunny sitcom. 😲

Bea would’ve snatched her up so quick 😅
Lizzy birdswoth would have them drinking her home made grog 😁
What would Chrissie do, give them a lecture on how all men are bastards?? 😂
The producers probably wanted a younger audience to start viewing the show. It was hard for me to take the show serious after they introduced Rabbit and Lexie. Bobbi had some good storylines though
@mr.bear-facts7396 I agree, I made a comment once that it was turning into a girls' reformatory.
“Your skull is three foot thick” 😂
Joans music lmaoo
OH brother, forgot about this crappy young chic, she can't act to save herself, sh'e painful, seems I'm skipping through even more of this show.
been giving a lot of this era/episodes lately a thumbs down!
@Heather Elliott & Kurt Franz THAT gal 17:03 isn't BAD LOOKING at all. Duno what you two idiots are talking about.
Lou is my currently favorite inmate, and I wish they would transfer that obnoxious pest willy.
That lawyer said you stir a martini not shake it. I can think of at least person that would disagree
James Bond🤣
They should have got Joan to induct the brats instead of Joyce and Meg
Oh Joan, how much would I like to see you let off the lead and set on Nicky at your unmuzzled sadistic best.
She should be assigned solely to her. The Freak would have scared Chopper Read straight lol.
God, the juveniles. It's getting rough when the Barnhurst 5 have gravitas.
there is a sudden drop in standard in regards to the storyline.
Those extremely thin and hard backs of chairs can't possibly be comfortable to sit on, so why is Lexie always sitting on them? They're trying too hard to make the producer's daughter the star of the show.
They'll have trouble finding who tried to run down Pippa. It could be any one of millions of viewers.
Anne should have got straight on to the police and had bullock chaucer and dwyer arrested fir attempted murder of pippa and departmental fraud
Good gawd Fergo's music is too grim even for a funeral.
Agree that Nikki would have been taken down REAL quick in Bea's day. She is begging for a bashing. Amazing that she managed to get a switchblade in. Where is The Freak when she could actually be useful.

Real class acting from the newbies...Watch you don't cut yourself with that Nikki!
They should put the food in police vans and smuggle it in.
Lexie and her innocent crap strikes again
This is the most placcid bunch of inmates ever. Won't be much of a deterence for the juvey offenders. They'll think they're on a right cushy number lol.
That lot blockading the prison would have been moved on by the police.
When Joyce was first introduced as a background character, she was a competent officer with a snarky attitude. For some reason, the writers turned her into Mrs. Magoo. Her type of professional incompetence is irritating to watch and not at all humorous as intended.
@ George Barrett: They did that with Judy Bryant too, George, turned her from ballsy dame into a placid non confrontational character.
She is Mrs Magoo! Funny that.
true, you wouldnt give her a job in a sweet shop,lol....
I went through the scared straight program when I was 14. I wasn't anything like Nikki lol
Tell us more! What was it like
It’s a cute little scar tactic I think it’s stupid be I’m a ex gang member it’s nothing like this shit

This show s so fantastically ridiculous sometimes. I can't get enough
I used to watch it as a teenager and would be crying with laughter at times, it was so over the top
Is it just me or has Daphne's mental age gotten even lower over the last couple of episodes?
I'm liking the juvenile delinquents storyline, and they are believable, especially the Kate Bush lookalike Nikki and her mini terror act around Wentworth. Hehe.

@Summer21- i thought Nikki looked like Kate Bush too!! I am so glad i wasn't the only one who saw it!!!
Imagine she starts doing the Wuthering heights twirls around the garden!
I was wondering why she looked so familiar. Lol her evil twin.
Do they not have a food warehouse there? Can't Ann get the screws to go to a food warehouse and buy food and bring it into to the prison? Oh now it's "Mummy?" Then it's Ann.
Mervin doesn’t know how to cut up an onion all that well. Very awkward.

Inspecter Grace....is a disgrace
When they bring the new offenders are the probation officers or what ever not supposed to sign in.
Lack of security as Miss Ferguson would say
The prison food shortage problem in this episode is so funny to me; did they not have pizza delivery services in the 80's? 😂
Pizza Hut started home delivery in 1986
You missed the big blockade at the gate huh? Even if pizza delivery was an option, which it wasn't until 1986, how do you think they'd get through the blockade? And who would pay for all this pizza?

Did people in 1985 really believe that nuclear war was coming? i was only 7 so i don't remember haha :P
Chernobyl was the big daddy disaster that could have wiped out most of Europe. The second explosion and 💣😧
Yep.... there have been fear mongers around for centuries!
If it was now, they'd be talking about terrorist bombers.

That bird's nest on Ben's head really irks me. Along with Pippa.
No one is a lost cause :(
Is Daphne for real? The carrots were already dead?
