    I don’t see any issue other than low pay. As a ups driver we got all these issues. It’s a job dude, nothing is perfect. No driving company is gonna hold your hand every step of the way, you gotta figure out how to make it work.
    Late starts wasted time?? Aren’t you payed by the hour, there is no such thing as wasted time on an hourly job. We start late all the time at ups.
    Extra packages just deliver them. Your payed by the hour right so more money. We get misloads all the time at ups.
    Unpredicatable days??? Have you been with that dsp for 5 years or something? Why do you demand only 1 route for a job to be ok? Just go out and do whatever route and get payed. I was driving with ups for 3 years before I got my own route.
    It’s a delivery company bro. Routes shift and things change everyday. If you want to do the same thing everyday go get an office job filing paperwork or something. Doing new stuff is what makes being a delivery driver exciting. Seeing new places is fun.
    Honestly it just sounds like you complain a lot brotha. But maybe delivery driving just isn’t for you. Good luck out there

      As a ups driver your potential of earning is far greater. Therefore, situations like this become more understandable.
      We got paid by the day. There is such thing, when you are forced to move out the way to wait for your stuff then having a 30 minute late start to find out you have an hour drive to your 1st stop. Then them calling asking “why are you running behind”
      The only reason I say I’m late is because they would.
      I still typically finished within a reasonable time.
      Misloads are okay when they Happen every once in awhile. but I don’t get paid by the hour so it’s inconvenient. I still delivered them anyway.
      I could be there 10 years and they could care less about putting me in one area.
      I was at FedEx express for 2 years and had my own route on my first day.
      Even as a swing driver(did different routes) it was more stable than Amazon.
      I’ve done delivery for over 8 years so I know how it runs dude. I’ve always adapted to situations but amazon made this 10x harder with there ai. Not to mention the stuff I listed on the video that happens daily
      As a ups driver I respect you.
      But please don’t be quick to judge one job from another brother.
      Have a good one.

      Late starts kinda suck, I was working for aramark delivering uniforms/mats etc, would show up at 6-7am and have to wait hours for our stuff to be ready. supposed to be 10hrs and a lot of times we had to cut our route short and not get everything done because legally we could only work 14hrs to comply with DOT. The work would get tossed onto a different day and the backup would just be a snowball effect. A one off here and there is one thing but when its daily it eventually gets to you. Its nice to get home and actually have some sort of balance to the rest of your day but when its every day, you feel like you just sorta exist.

    • @day2day667
      @day2day667 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      You got a lot to say about another persons reason for leaving, he felt that way and it’s ok if he wanted to leave. Maybe you have that attitude cause ups drivers get paid about 20 dollars more than Amazon workers so your willing to deal with more issues you think of that?

    • @abizzle2319
      @abizzle2319 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@day2day667 He had a lot to say about his reasons for leaving and I’m not saying that it isn’t ok that he wants to leave. He can do whatever he wants. TH-cam allows comments on videos and I gave my point, which im allowed to do, on a video he posted publicly.
      Also in my experience mindset is everything. People think that an extra $20 an hour is gonna magically make you positive person that works through issues. It does not. There are bunch of complainers and lazy guys at ups who will talk down on the company and hate their job all day while making $45 an hour. I don’t understand.
      I’m not saying this guy is lazy but just several of the points I just don’t see as an issue. That is all.
      You can pay people $200 an hour and a complainer is still gonna complain. Money Dosent change that

    I started at a DSP that was badly managed and dispatch workers where shady AF but I liked the job so what I did was I hung in there while I was looking for an other DSP to hire me. I got hired at another DSP that is way closer to home and they are great at Running it , so far so good , dispatch isn’t on my ass ever and they show appreciation. So I believe that it’s not the job it’s the people and the way they run it.

    Matthew, thank you so much for posting this video. I had a traumatic experience recently where my phones and external battery died and it seemed like dispatch didn’t even care where I was. It was dark and my second time in the country side. No flash light provided. I had to VTO today to think about what I wanted to do next. I thought maybe I can bring some extra supplies just in case they do this to me again, or maybe communicate with DSP with more specific and concrete solutions. My safety feels threatened, especially being petite, female and just super unfamiliar with the farm areas. I’m very disappointed with how this situation was handled. Take care and I hope you find a better job opportunity!

Then I would ask my team lead for advice about how to get better and strategies to use and they just look at you like an alien… it’s up to you to get better and learn how to deliver more efficiently. There’s no sense of team at all every man for your yourself and if you don’t progress they cut your schedule. And when I was off of work, I would go see my family on the days I had off but would leave a day before going into work the next day or I would stay in Austin doing DoorDash, Instacart, favors, Grubhub, or Ubereats after getting off of work and on my days off so i was on the grind but very tiring.

    All facts in this video bro. I was also an Amazon delivery driver but I just quit a week ago. Luckily now I got another delivery job that pays more and is easier. I delivered for Amazon for 3 years and it’s just not worth it to me anymore. During my 3 years with 2 different DSP’s, I have seen Amazon’s rules get way stricter and routes get a lot heavier. Back in the day when I started most DSP’s didn’t have the cameras in the vans, even the blue branded vans with the Amazon logos didn’t have them. It was a lot easier and more chill to deliver without having to worry about every minor detail on the road. Also used to average 130-150 stops with about 25 group stops and 15-25 overflow which wasn’t too bad but after a year and changing DSP’s I was averaging 170-190 stops with 30-50 overflow. From my experience I just saw the direction Amazon was going with the routes for the drivers making them heavy and complicated with apartments and business’s and the lack of care for us.

    Another kicker is the password deliveries deliveries that force you to get in touch with the customer which isnt bad in concept until you realize human nature. If you do a dozen, at least half won't pick up, won't know how to find their password, and youll get chewed out for something Amazon/the customer is responsible for. There's no bypassing the password system at all with a standard delivery. One time I stood outside with a customer for a half hour outside her apartment because she couldn't find her password but didnt want me cancelling the stop otherwise I could get a bad review, so I ran behind on a day with 180ish stops.

    I wouldn’t say you’re complaining. More like listing off things that could be improved upon. Our dsp experiences simply things, and could definitely be improved upon. My biggest thing though .. is that AI system. Not the Driver(I), but the AI that predicts your departure, and return time.
    Had a Galesburg route the other day with 190 stops. The system predicted I’d get there and back by 17:45. Including an hours worth of breaks. Well.. no. An entire cart wasn’t ready. Had to go bypass. In the end I ended up bringing back 30 stops back with me. I’d honestly say that’s pretty good for me though, but I ended up getting yelled at for coming back with 30 stops, and not being in compliance with 12 hr drive time. They wholeheartedly believe in the ai system.

      packages hardly matter, it's the stops and multi-stops. 200 packages you probably had like what 90 stops? That's so easy it's not even funny. I mean you can end up having one stop with 20 packages at a locker.

    Been working there for 2 months and am already looking for a new job. Every job has its downs but this one made me want to leave after a month, I’ve never turned the van off after a stop though and they’ve never mentioned it🤣

    It's horrible place to work, people get write up to go the bathrooms and say that's long break. If you go injured and you keep using you time, you'll get write ups. If you have health problems they will do anything they can to fired you. It happens to alot of people, I found a new job and I was going to put my 2 week noticed but instead they fired me. If you have low UPT or negatives they will fire you. I work at the warehouse and I almost work there for 2 years

    I had a friend that left Amazon for UPS. 6 months later he left and worked for FedX. He's now back with Amazon to make extra money as he enrolled in a HVAC class to learn heating and A/C. when he's done he will be hired by a HVAC company making twice as much! It's expensive but a real job! Wish you the best! Yanni

    I was wondering what my dispatch was doing too while I was afraid in the dark in the middle of nowhere 🤦🏻‍♀️. When I got back nobody was at the desk to even ask if I was ok. I’ve been clocking out at 6:30PM but I got home at 9:30PM. Didn’t even message back on our group chats. My coworkers were wondering why I was delivering so late especially with it being dark in the farm areas. My family was very worried about me. For all I know he was hiding the restroom scrolling on social media. Or doing some other task while I really needdd him.
