The short answer is, a big country with wide open spaces, needs big trucks. The Kenworth trucks shown here bear no resemblance to their US counterparts apart from the badge. The Australian built COE for example, has won a slew of Engineering Excellence Awards. It must also be remembered, Scania, Volvo & MAN, also compete in the mining sector & are used by many fleets.
We have.....most of the railways in the north of the country are private for hauling bulk materials from mines. Not feasible for general freight when customers delivery points can be hundreds of kilometres apart. Door to door is something rail cannot do.
They are definitly not the most advanced on the market because european made truck are the most advanced there are. The Australian build trucks are better adapted to the work they need to do there. This KW looks bad ass!!
As A NORTH AMERICAN "TRUCKIE"... I Would Buy A Kenworth 220 Today IF It Were Available In North America. But Sadly Kenworth Dosen't Sell Them In This Market.
These trucks are building the country.
Mineral Resources can’t even keep their trucks upright. Also nobody runs those dual powered road trains anymore. They basically put BIS out of business.
AUSTRALIAN ROAD TRAIN TRUCKS are the MOST ADVANCED in the WORLD 50 years ago, European truck leaves any brand behind nowadays in everything comfort power technology : ) : )
I wonder why Australian truck drivers wear work boots? In the US, truck drivers wear flip flops or flip flops with socks if it's cold out. I wonder why
My daughter’s partner drives road trains across the NT in a KW C509 with three trollies carrying cattle from one station to another… typical runs are 1500km to 2000km and he definitely wears thongs while driving… boots when loading or offloading cattle. But BenSpencer is right… company drivers wear boots an hi-viz clothes
Trucky.
Kenworth over any other truck I have driven Scania ,DAF, MAN , Foden, Isuzu , Hino and UD I find the European Trucks have no guts compared to the others 🤙🏽
They have NO weight limits or lenth limits like we do in the USA and their roads are all dirt. Thewy dont have cities with traffic form hell. Their government is not us their asses all the time. Its not the same.
Crap!! There are weight and length limits on all public roads in Australia and plenty of enforcement to keep it legal. Try running overweight or overlength on an Australian public road and you would find that out very quickly. Private roads often found in mines are different, but trucks on these roads still run to company or vehicle weight limits. Also, our big cities certainly have their fair share of "traffic from hell". Maybe you need to do some basic research before commenting next time.
Australia must change to left side driving ASAP immediately! Since when Mack even as a subdivision of Volvo has a 780hp engine that even Volvo doesn't have it & when the most powerful is Scania 770hp a?!?!
Don't they drive on the left side??? Anyway, 780hp inlin-6 is available in EU Volvos. I'm not sure how much related are the Mac and Volvo engines though.

Yes they do and they have the most break downs with electronic glitches and they don't handle rough roads real well
Trucks are adapted for the circumstances and infra structure of the country were they work,in europe these trucks would be impossable to work with.
120 tons in one trailer. 🤣🤣
AUSSIE TRUCKS ARE THE BEST TRUCKS.
They are the best trucks built for Australian conditions.

Most of the drivers are company drivers, so boots are mandatory.
