You have so much time dude, try different engines, game genre, make mistakes as much as possible , try to aim above your capabilities.
What to expect is many unfinished projects, constantly jumping from project to project, a gap in between like two months not touching your game or losing motivation. It's all the part of process.
People say don't aim for to big of idea but you will still aim to make an open world and leave it in between coz it's too ambitious. I'd say make a open world game and fail, try to do everything by yourself making art, music, programing and you will find what you are good at.
      Thanks

That's so cool! I'm doing the exact same thing! (I'm not very old so you don't have to take my advice) I would say just keep learning and making games! If you make a great game, the most important part is marketing so having a youtube channel is probably a good idea especially since you're young and have a lot of time. If you put in the time and energy you can probably do it!

I tried the fulltimegamedev subscribe and then listening to it on spotify.. but like 2min in just ended up coming here because there was so much "if you can see on my screen here" that really made it for a better visual experience to me a long with showcasing the kickstarter page and everything. I don't know how it'll do in this format for audio only, but I really like it as a video podcast showcase.
For David, amazing work. I'm not gonna lie as soon as I heard little nemo 2d metroidvania I instantly remembered the nes game (and mario 2 variant/rip) and was like oh no watchout for copyright, but as I listened further with it being referenced to the original story I was like ah ok yeah it'll be good. I agree with everything Thomas said about the kickstarter page being amazing, wish I had money to donate myself, but I do wish all the best luck with it.

Dave, I’ve known you all my life. You are a brilliant person. Whether as an artist and now developing video games. I’m planning on supporting you on kickstart because I believe in you. I don’t have any young children but probably can find a child that doesn’t have much going in his or her life. Hopefully giving that child some enjoyment in a sad world.

looks awesome. I was listening to this and thought I already backed this project but I guessed there was another Little Nemo project earlier funded. it's cool how you both can take the same IP and both have some cool takes on it .

As allways you should ask them how much they got in revenue and whether it did worked out for them as they wanted or not ,it really helps others to value this.👌😊

I find it so weird that no one have pointed out that there was a game for eight bit Nintendo with the same title just no one references this, it’s kinda shady to just rip off the concept and hope that no one notices

wonderboy 3 is the best game ever made. By far. As a solo dev, coder, animator and graphist, I agree that the remake is a masterclass. They went straight to the assembly Master system code to redo it. The problem of framworks like unity is that, to make real games, the engines are actually more of a pain that just creating your own engine. Especially for steam / switch games. Now regarding 3D, unity or UE make sense, but for 2d, you cannot make a game using 1 their own physics engine (including collisions), 2 their layout tools. It s way too nooby
