well you see at one point engineers were thinking of mounting a 355mm cannon onto a plane... didnt work since even though it was recoiless it would damage the tail by melting it out of place from the shockwave, if only it were to have actually been made and added into war thunder lmao
I've killed 3 US fighters in an IL-2 without even dying. And it wasn't one of the better handling variants either; it was the 37mm cannon one that flies like a lead balloon.
Things I learned in this video 1. Shooting in first person is 4x more effective than third person 2. The 102mm has two different belts for specific targets (AP for heavy tanks, and pillboxes, HEI-T for every other target like boats and lighter vehicles) 3. This 102mm gun is even more effective at a distance (usually between 1 - 3kms away), basically just use it as the equivalent to a sniper rifle 4. Unless if the P108A is spaded (have better turrets and guns in other words), you’re screwed within the first minute or two in an Air RB match (at least you’ll last more than 2 min when spaded

@@330Gunslingers Eh, if they didn't have AA it would be SOO much easier to simply bomb them. This gun gave the airplanes a shot... heh... yes, it gave them a shot at destroying the ships without needing to dive-bomb directly at them, hence reducing exposure to the AA guns by a lot.
Sometimes I wonder why they didn't stick howitzers or any kind of low recoil guns with big HE more often in planes, in a central bottom turret, so you can just deliver close range artillery on top of tanks or defensive positions... seems like you would get more use out of it than just a few bombs that go where the f they want to and more loitering time as well
You need some sort of computer to calculate the shots. Something that was done on the late war ships but I don't think they had nearly enough room on a plane to add. Not to mention the massive expense and ancillary equipment required
Man, you gotta try out the He 112 B-0, it's only got a single 20mm cannon, *BUT* it's got 100 rounds of ammo, has a slower fire rate, and can punch like 40-something mm of armor with AP rounds. It's also got decent speed and maneuverability for an aircraft with such a low BR. Have dunked on Jumbos with it too lol.

It didn't ricochet, it passed through the armor and didn't cause any damage from where the shell hit on the edge.
