I have expected something different from a canadian. In Russia most of these coats are outumn clothes. In winter from all of these clothes it's possible to use parka, heavy down jacket and maybe topcoat with a large scarf. But it's hard not to look like a Gorbachev on a communist party meeting in a topcoat.
I’m not usually a quilted jacket person. I like them, I just don’t think I pull them off well enough. I currently have a couple of north face jackets and a sporty leather jacket. My wishlist for future jackets would be a full leather bomber jacket and then a trench-coat that’s maybe a charcoal or black to go over my suit. RMRS, any thoughts or recommendations Antonio?
Truth be told, the trench coat looks the best. The pea coat also looks good but I haven't seen it in person. I love clothes are long and flowy. Besides, the old-timey sophisticated asthetic of a trench coat is hard to beat!

At first glance, it might seem like an extremely old-fashioned look, but I can actually pull it off. If I don't wear the hat, it looks even more modern but still sharp.

My favorite jacket is the trench coat, perfect for the 3 worst seasons of the year. I got one at a thrift shop for $5, and there's a 50% chance it's Burberry. When I was in college this was my go riverside I was walking between multiple buildings all day in the elements. Now that I'm commuting I use leather and short overcoats most of the time.
I hate to say it in a negative manner, but I watch several mens fashion youtubers and am put off by the metrosexual, pretty boy, almost effeminate personas dishing out fashion advice. Frankly, most of that stuff just doesn't cut it for me. Which is why I actually pay attention to RMRS. If James Bond was American, he'd watch Antonio's videos. If my grandfather hadn't died fighting for his country, he'd watch Antonio's videos. Classics are classics for a reason, it doesn't get more stylishly masculine than that
I can't stand the fads, fake lumberjack beards that are taken to a stylist, and boots that has never seen outdoor work a day in their life. Give me a break. I can tell and so can the fairer sex

Well it's all about the age range and what their audiences are. Antonio's vids are good for people that are mostly 30+ however that doesn't mean younger people can't take away from it. Its the current fashion climate, influencers, and age that dictates most peoples style.
I bought my peacoat on eBay from an ex-Navy officer who had done his service in places like the US Virgin Islands, Texas, Florida, etc... He'd never worn it. $100, looks dynamite, super warm, 100% wool with nice pewter button that make it stand out a bit from jackets with plastic buttons. A peacoat looks good on everybody, it's definitely my favourite coat I own.

Pea coats are awesome, they look good on almost everyone and you really should go for 100% wool on these. Wool's ability to keep you warm even when its wet makes it a no brainer. Same with the overcoat. If you already going to spend the money on one, bite the bullet and spend a little more for an all wool overcoat. My ideal winter coat is a bear skin lining with an oiled buck skin outer shell. U just haven't had a good enough season to make it a viable option, as having one made would be extremely expensive.
I love overcoats. They are just sheer awesome in every way and well worth the money on a cold day, especially since I wear a jacket 5 or 6 days a week. I just wish it stayed cooler in North Carolina for longer so I could wear them longer. Winter is my season and thick wool is probably my favourite. I also still have my leather jacket that I had over 20 years of use out and it is the jacket that keeps on kicking and if you look after it ends up looking better the older it gets.
A good down jacket for causal everyday use. Leather jacket when I want to take it up a notch. For those more formal occassions nothing beats the nice charcoal grey topcoat over the suit or sport coat. Really knocks 'em dead.
Love these. How to look good and stay warm. Is there a dress boot that looks good, that is also rugged? Those of us who go from a construction site to meetings are in desperate need of those.....

I've got a leather overcoat I've had for about 30 years and love it! It's amazing how well the jacket has stood the test of time if you just take care of it -- but that's leather. Just bought a camel overcoat yesterday to change it up a bit, though. Love the season of coats and layering!
My favorite winter jacket is my woolen green plaid doublebreasted overcoat with a belt from C&A. It's marketed as a trenchcoat, but it really isn't. It has a quilted lining and is really heavy. The lapels are somewhere betwen peak a and a notch lapel and I sewed on an extra button to button the left lapel to my right shoulder to keep the wind out. It was really inexpensive. Only 80€. It's called the c&a archive trench coat.

Parka Style coat! I actually just bought a parka style from Columba this weekend, it's insulated, wind resistant, water proof, and the warmest coat I have ever owned! Very similar to your Parka Coat but a light gray color instead.
I love duffel coats, you can level them up and down. 7 different color wool and 2 leather duffel coats in my wardrobe. Various leather and wool pea coats, about 8 parkas, some of them extremely oversised, like sleeping bags, luxurious. I live in Mexico City, here we don't use any calefaction, but it's very cold sometimes so I like to be prepared against it. I have a lot more style of jackets and coats, but I love the first ones.

Since I do not dress very formal, a quilted barbour, a waxed bedale, a pea coat or a duffle coat (not presented in the video) are enough for me. Waxed jacket is not that worm but is more water repellant, quilted is warmer than waxed but is not water repellant. And when the temperatures go below 10 degrees celcius, pea coat or duffle coat are necessary. Recently the Italian company "BOGGI Milano" has presented a trench coat made from a wool water repellant material made by "Vitale Barberis Canonico", that is bridging perfectly the gap between a pea coat and a standard trench coat.
I wore my fathers pea coat ( the real mccoy, dense wool and thick) , in high school and received lots of compliments. I have a leather field coat for when it's really cold. I have a insulated "windbreaker" but am lately tired of the sea of plastic coats and am considering going to a more formal Harris Tweed sport coat or even the Aran Sweaters. I am looking for a dress overcoat(I'm an accountant) in wool now.

I really like my black pea coat and my brownish kind of taba montgomery coat. The pea coat really ups my style and the montgomery, while being a little more casual, can almost be worn anywhere.
I love my riding jacket, but it's not perfect for every occasion. Have you tried a leather blazer? They are also pretty badass. Especially when used with a monochromatic look.
My old top coat is pretty versatile. It's a bit oversized, but it fits great with a warm lined hoodie. Hoodie? Yeah. I know a long top coat is formal but I make it work with that charcoal hoodie and a pair of black Danner mountain light boots.
I love my Schott Pea Coat for the majority of winter days here in Ohio, but I do have a backup parka style coat for when we get those sub zero wind chills.
I think you hit on most of the key jackets for winter: parka (necessary in the Northeast US or other cold areas), Peacoat in Navy, a quilted jacket in brown or olive, a waxed cotton in Olive (Barbour is classic here), a topcoat in Navy or Camel (if you live dat rich guy life), and a black leather jacket (if you can afford a GOOD one...I consider this one optional).
I bought a wool navy double breasted overcoat in a thrift shop. It was like made by a tailor to me. The point is that thrift shopping is like fishing - you can be really lucky and otherwise. But a great way to save much money - especially as a student.

As someone who lives in the West but grew up in a tropical country, I find this really helpful to understand what to buy and why.
For Winter, my choices are:
1. Pea coat for Formal Occasions
2. Field Down Jacket to rock everyday casual.
3. Leather/suede jacket for badass look.
i myself would stick with #1 & 2 of your choices. not a fan of leather unfortunately

My favourite coat is a custom tailored London Fog cut trenchcoat I had made with black leather in 1993. I still have and wear it and it's beautiful.
I would also add the duffel coat, its really warm, has a bunch of storage and a very usefull hood

it may be a south western thing but, I tend to wear a waxed canvas duster in the more nasty weather. those were some fine looking coats.

Jackets have always been my favorite article of clothing, the irony is though that I live in Florida and its still in the 80s over here

I think you hit on most of the key jackets for winter: parka (necessary in the Northeast US or other cold areas), Peacoat in Navy, a quilted jacket in brown or olive, a waxed cotton in Olive (Barbour is classic here), a topcoat in Navy or Camel (if you live dat rich guy life), and a black leather jacket (if you can afford a GOOD one...I consider this one optional).
I bought a wool navy double breasted overcoat in a thrift shop. It was like made by a tailor to me. The point is that thrift shopping is like fishing - you can be really lucky and otherwise. But a great way to save much money - especially as a student.
