      @@ChristianFuchsBlues It is an absolutely incredible song though. My god is it beautiful. You don't even need to play like Errol Garner (not that I could). But even stripped down from all the ornaments. And that Am7b5 -->Ab is just mmmm!

    Giving it a try today, motivated not to give up jazz. Thought my patience with it has run out! Then found a teacher who makes jazz less formidable. Also, the quips make me laugh. Literally a face- to-face lesson given by a grumpy but funny uncle 😅😅

    The genius of misty is it alternates the grand style in first 3 notes with the intimate style of measures 5-6. Errol said it started as his off-key intro to Stardust, the up and down melody curve. Never get tired of errol.

    Christian you're amazing! I've been doing your beginner's cocktail piano and it seems every time I look up a song you've put it up within the past couple of months -- in this case, the exact same day. I've been going off a real book version (taught to me by my piano teacher who I haven't seen since quarantine began here in NYC) but seeing just the chords and melody, while beautiful on its own, lacks that special something-something. Found it here. You seem to have been very productive during this quarantine, I guess that means you're my teacher now! Again, thank you so much.

    I just started working on this one. I have a few arrangements of it but this one is gorgeous. Really nice voicings and alterations you put in there. Really enjoying playing it. That was great advice you gave me a couple months back to pay close attention to the chord progression. When I do that, I feel like I have a way better chance of hitting something that still sounds good even if I missed the exact notes in your arrangement. That said, your arrangement is almost always better than any accidents I stumble on. Which tells me you really tried a bunch of options and picked the “best” one.

    • @ChristianFuchsBlues
      @ChristianFuchsBlues  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    hello there! I have been researching the effectivness of TH-cam as a tool for education, specifically learning piano (I am a learning jazz pianist studying Music). I would like to know peoples experiences in using tutorials to help learn piano pieces- the benefits and the drawbacks!
    Certain questions include:
    - do you feel part of a community through the comment section?
    - do you feel like youtube is a good substitute for having a private in-person teacher?
    - do you feel you can ask the youtube tutor questions and have a good and useful response?
    what do you think youtube misses?
    Thank you!

    • @ChristianFuchsBlues
      @ChristianFuchsBlues  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I make it a little quick, cause one symptom of having a growing on your own is that you can answer less and less comments, especially detailed question.
      1. Community: Yes, since there is a growing body of people who return to comment I feel there is a feeling of community. But the by far most part of people stay silent, so it`s a fairly small community compared to the volume of consumers.
      2. No, TH-cam is not a good substitute for a real teacher. The main job is monitoring and correcting mistakes and also find out where a specific person has specific weaknesses. Secondly it very much depends on the TH-cam teacher. But even if they are VERY good, they cannot by far not achieve what a real teacher can. Assuming that the real teacher is good. ( Which is also often not the case).
      3. I cannot go into detail on what TH-cam misses. Cause that could be by technical specifications, service, support etc. When it comes to tutorials, a built on Loop function would be great. In general TH-cam is doing a lot for creators. What is really annyoiing to many creators are increasingly strict copyright filters. For example in a Boogie improv the algorithm gave me a warning cause it detected fragments of a Chinese folk song. Ridiculous. It gives me also warnings if I play a melody by whomever, Elton John, if I just show it for teaching reasons. That has gotten out of hand.
      4. Responses by the TH-cam teacher: Every TH-camrs experience is, that in the beginning of the channel you answer everything. But the workload become so huge, and people do not see the work behind the scenes. Every email asking for personal tuition or questions about the 3rd note in the 4the chorus of Sunny or requests for their favorite songs ( can you do Lady Boom from 1923 but in the recording of J. Smith but PLEASE IN Aminor) , no kidding, expect to be answered. In my free time, when there is already thousands of hours of free stuff. So there simply is no way except answering briefly more and more.
      You will see that TH-camr with lets say 100 000 subs don't even give hearts anymore or answer comments at all, or very very rare. That's the way it goes
      Hope I could help a little.

    • @madeleinemoryoussef6353
      @madeleinemoryoussef6353 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChristianFuchsBlues thank you so much for your in-depth response. It has helped loads. I understand that the comments and copyright issues must get too much sometimes!
      Would you say the tutorials you choose to create are impacted by people commenting "do this one" and "do this one"?
      Also, your videos are known to be so amusing and entertaining for the watcher- how important do you think this humour and interaction is for learning?
      Thank you again! I appreciate it so much.
