Delroy Lindo & Mekhi Phifer were also in Clockers, Delroy, Idris & Regina King were also in The Harder They Fall, Idris & Chris Brown were also in Takers, Columbus Short, Chris Brown & Laz Alonso were also in Stomp The Yard, Loretta Devine, Sharon Leal & Keith Robinson were also in Dreamgirls (2006) & Loretta Devine is an original Dreamgirl. Dude was played by rapper/producer David Banner. After watching these black family movies i’ve come to the realization that Soul Food is the blueprint for black family movies. Every black family movie that came out after it mirrors it. R.I.P. Lupe Ontiveros & Ricky Harris (Cousin Fred).
This movie reminds me of my mother,God bless her soul, the first time I watched this movie was with her and it was her first time hearing Chris brown sing,this is an instant classic Christmas movie. Miracles and blessings to you and yours merry Christmas to you and yours ✌️ 💜 🙏.

Can't forget her epic start on stage in the original Dreamgirls on Broadway as Lorrell. A true living legend at 75 and no signs of slowing down.
She was also in the original Dreamgirls with Sheryl Lee Ralph hence her cameo in the remake
