  • Accessibility is a pillar of service for New York City Transit and MTA Bus Company. Our nearly 6000 buses are all accessible via ramp or lift, and we are working to improve seating configurations and provide for wider wheelchair ramps and rear doors on our buses. But accessibility isn't just about these physical assets - it's the 12,000+ operators that truly make our fleet accessible. The actions of our operators set the standard for service, and we are proud of the excellent service they provide every day to all our customers. This video highlights some of our heroic frontline operators who have received customer commendations for providing outstanding accessible service over the years

This is why I love MTA. The helpful and happy bud and train operators/conductors. They were the key part in this pandemic. This is why I’m working to become a member of The MTA family. #MTASTRONG

I remember back when local buses had stairs. They were more comfortable to ride, I miss them and did not mind waiting for handicapped lifts. But oh well. Glad it’s easier without stairs, though it sacrifices comfort.

It nice the way the MTA gives Bus Operators recognition and yet they allow individuals in this video to call Bus Operators , Bus Drivers.
Driving is one aspect of what a Bus Operators does.
(1)In Using the farebox, Bus Operators keep track of about 8 different types of revenue for the MTA. (2) Bus Operators engage and disengage an electromechanical interlock EVERY TIME there is a bus stop made; this allows customers to board and alight the bus SAFELY without the bus moving. (3) Bus Operators operator a pneumatic kneeling device at every bus stop allowing both elderly and those with disabilities access to the bus. And for those that are more challenged with disability Bus Operators operator a (4) mechanic lift to allow access to the bus. (Note Please if the electrical portion of this lift is not working the Bus Operator must manually operate the lift for customers access)

WELL STATED. And the individual in the video does not respect the title because she addresses them as 'bus drivers' and not 'Bus Operator!!!' I can't believe the MTA let that fly in this video.
