Is there a place we can nominate our favorite Dimash reactor? I mean you winning the tickets to his birthday concert is amazing and well deserved. You have brought so many people to know this amazing human/singer/just everything. I think you should get a nomination to meet him. Not just giving him a rose thought I know that was such a wonderful experience. But you are hands down mine and so many of us Dears favorite Dear reactor ❤

A very understated song. It is so proudly Kazakh Dimash, spiritual, soulful.

The person who was playing the piano was the composer of this song. Did you notice that the end of the video was in color (indicating hope)?

Thank you for your reaction. I believe his family has instilled in him all the stories of his Kazakh ancestors. He embodies all those stories anytime he sings songs of his homeland. He is a masterful storyteller and the love he has for his homeland is palatable.

Kazakhstan became an independent nation just a couple of years before Dimash was born following the most appalling history (and I’ve only researched the past 100 years!). He is so proud of his stunningly beautiful country as seen in the MV but this song is also about loss of his professor and other friends during the pandemic and a heartfelt prayer for his beloved country to be safe, peaceful and independent.

"Difficulties temper and tempered people can't be broken!" So Dimash is on fire, being tempered! This MV was shoot in pandemic times, so everybody was facing the "temper" but only some would survive! And yes, I went to Kazakhstan and went to all these places. They are so beautiful that it is hard to believe they are real! Hug from Brazil!

👉 Here is playing the best Kobys player in the world, Dimash’s friend Olzhas Qurmanbeck.
This bowl-neck lute played with a bow is is an old Turkic stringed instrument and called Kobys, Qobyz or Kylkobyz in Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz variant, for example, is called the kyl-kyyak.
The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the mother (prototype) of all European string instruments.
(Turkic means: The Turkic peoples are a collection of ethnic groups from Central, East, North and West Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa who speak Turkic languages. Difference between Turkic and Turkish - th-cam.com/video/PqxhtBecVeg/w-d-xo.html )
A legend about Kobyz says that this instrument was created by the great steppe narrator Korkyt-Ata, who lived in the 10th century and that the tool is charged with magical and even mystical properties and sounds like animal voices. In addition, the Kazakh people believed that the spirits of their ancestors spoke to them through this music.
The old outlook and piety towards their instruments and music was constantly preserved in traditional Kazakh society and ensured the highest spiritual level of musical art and a special respectful attitude towards musical instruments. Simple people, for example, did not dare to touch the shaman's Kobyz. It is said: The balance between the courses of life and death on earth can be maintained by playing the Kobyz.

I suggested this to you in the comments a long time ago. Glad you got to it. He directed it. It was about covid hitting. That was the fire symbolism. One of his musical mentors died of covid, that was what the guy falling off the piano bench and into the water was about. It is such a DEEP song and he sure brings out every emotion. Back when it came out, I did get the translation of that first part. Here it is.
The first 2 minutes is a story. . . this is the translation of the beginning
The Great Steppe... I praise your rich lands. Altai and Atyrau, Zhaiyk and Ili, Alatau and Saryarka - what expanses of my native land that has witnessed my happy years! I am talking about the Great Steppe - the golden cradle of the Turkic world. Hey, silent world! Do not hold your breath! You have descendants who never hesitated and did not stand aside during fierce disputes and confrontations. This land has an owner - a kind character and generous soul of whom could not spoil or break this changeable world with its distorted values. The Great Steppe has a guardian spirit, unknown to a stranger, incomprehensible to an outsider.

Hola John. Y me encanta tu reacción. Y pronto vivirás de nuevo esa experiencia gratificante de ver y escuchar en vivo a Dimash, que dichoso. Disfrútalo y traenos todos los pormenores de esta nueva aventura en el universo Dimash. ❗ PRISONERS ! From Genghis Khan to the Soviet barbed wire labor camps, Kazakhstan had been invaded and subjugated, forced to pass down in secret, their language, culture and traditions. For over a 1000 years they steadfastly and tenaciously did this in the face of imprisonment, torture and death, one generation to the next. Dimash's generation is THE FIRST IN A MILLENNIUM to grow up in à free sovereign state, 1991, and they are deeply passionate about their nation ! This generation determined with every fiber of their being to preserve, protect and celebrate every facet of their beloved "Keilem Mekin" ( a song he sings with fervor) their Sacred Homeland and her language, culture and traditions for themselves, the world at large and the sake of their children.

The Spanish invasion and aggression in Latin America totally eaten their languages, look at the USA, natives Red Indian lost their language and culture totally just in a few years. Thanks so much, John, for giving such an intelligent reaction to this, one of my favorite and most beautiful videos of our dear, Dimash, “Qairan Elim”. BTW, the instrument is called a Kobyz: “Kobyz
Ancient Turkic bowed string instrument, The kobyz or kylkobyz, or qobyz, is an ancient Turkic bowed string instrument, spread among Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. The kobyz has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather.”
This is such a powerful and emotional song about the beautiful homeland of Kazakhstan and all it has gone through in its brutal history. I believe Dimash really put his heart and soul into this video. I especially LOVE that it ends on a major tone and shows the beautifully green & peaceful land Kazakhstan has become. Thank you again for taking the time to point out so many wonderful parts of this video and what they represent. God bless and thanks for reading!

This video broke records. It was the first Kazakh language video shown in MTV. The first Kazakh singer shown on MTV. Dimash held the no 1 spot on MTV for weeks and weeks. The show he was on ended with Jim stoll on the Number 1 spot as voted for by fans and the young music lovers of the USA and far beyond. We Dears stayed up every Friday night to vote for Jim for months and it worked, we got his music in MTV, which is admittedly not as influenced as it once was, but it was still something to get him noticed. We Dears do so many crazy things to support him ❤

I am going to BOTH concerts so hope to meet Throga, who are reactors that John loves too, They are sooo excited to be going to Budapest and John is going to Istanbul. My tickets to both concerts are early 80th birthday presents. I’m Christine from U.K. if you haven’t watched Throga, they are doing a weekly countdown to Budapest. They are so funny and knowledgeable.

Oh, beautiful reaction, I love how excited you are especially about this video - it shows so much about Dimash himself, about his love to his motherland, his abilities also in visual art, the symbolism is immense, the desperate suffering, torture, fighting and dying of the musicians and artists who always tried to make their culture, their land, people, civilization, music and love survive.... I cried so hard when I first watched this, and it still touches me deeply... Thank you for your love for this, and of course for your sincere love for our Dimash! 🌹❤

Such a beautiful, heart-wrenching song about the long & sad history of Kazakhstan. Dimash is so proud of his homeland and his heritage & he sings from his soul with all of his Kazakh folk songs or songs connected to the history of this beautiful country.
Thank you for another great reaction 😊🙏💞

I love this video too but still stuggle with "the favorite music video" concept. Everytime I watch one I think "this is my favorite video"😂😂😂
Deep down, as a Metal gal, fire is great🤘🔥🤘 but long hair black leather vampire Dimash was way way up there😂😂😂
Another great reaction John. Thank you❤️
Have you heard of City of Sound out of L.A.??😃
You should check out their unique symphonic Rock vibe with "But One Ghost"🌹
I think you would really love the vocalist. Great voice and band.👍
    🥰🥰Much love from a Canadian Dear🌹🇨🇦🌹

That was not Dimash narrating... but just like you none of us were certain because he can do so many things in so many voices.
"The instrument" you were referring to is called a KOBYZ.
    Sound familiar?...
It's the same instrument used at the beginning of the song "Stranger".

Im glad youre doing songs in kazak. Theres something special about him singing in his own language. You should check out an early video of him in a tv show ."Phantacity" with the behind the scene shots. First acting job. Its cute.

This is one of my favorite Kazakh songs, and this MV is fire.❤ The visuals are so emotionally moving. The message is so beautiful and powerful. There is a video of him in rehearsal doing the Kobyz part with his voice because Ohlzas was sick. It sounded just like the instrument.🤯

I think that’s Renat Gaissin at the piano. Poor guy! The wind blew the flames towards his face. 😳🥺
I agree - those are beautiful shots of the landscape! ❤
And Dimash’s voice is so dreamy and sad. 🥰
Thanks for the enthusiastic reaction. Even the start was priceless:
Landscape - John: 🤩☺️ - "That is beautiful"
    One second later:
    Fight scene - 😱🫣 - "uh brutal!"

thanks John - you do know that Dimash is a deep thinker which shows in the analogy of earth fire and water in this masterpiece. Fire in the sacred books is likened to the daily struggles /challenges/test we face in life, all the holy writings allude to this analogy and that only by going through the challenges to the ego is the soul of man purified. Earth or the natural surrounding is a powerful interpretation of the world stage where man stands supreme over nature the gift his Creator entrusted to his care. Water represents the knowledge of God re how to be human" we can impart from the holy books of all religions. the problem is some followers like to interpret the holy word to fit their agenda instead of God's agenda which is all about the joy of giving and reciprocating positivity much like how you spread love which emanates from the realm of God through your channel. Dimash understands this principle very well and promotes it through his music without prosletysing his religious beliefs. We appreciate you Johh Reaves. Good Job!

Thank you John. Dimash does let us see the world and his visions through his voice and creative projects. I love how it changes from minor to major at the end to leave us with an element of hope.
