Hey man just got done my IE stage 1 tune, IE intakee, turbo inlet on my MK7 GTI 6spd. If you ever wanna rip it up I'm in Essex VT. Downpipe, intercooler, is38, and stage 2 tune, to come by early summer. Love the content. Keep it coming
Dude my MK7 GTI DSG had engine issues so I got a 2024 Golf R Manual... I've already modded the @#$% outta it, and it's only got less than 2K miles on it. Ha. I had big plans for the MK7 to go Stage 3... now I'll have to settle for going stage 2 in the new R.
Can you give more info on your Mk7? Year, mileage, maintenance and specific issues. Asking to learn, and to add to my knowledge base. 2017 GTI SE here, 47k miles. Religiously maintained since new 10/30/17. 🍻
You should probably clean the rear window before doing suction mounts. That's how I nearly lost my X2. At the end of a run, two of the cups came off and the things was barely hanging on. If I had kept going, the next bump would have sent it into orbit. FBO IS38 really is the sweet spot for Touge. With its linear powerband, makes it very predictable. While also still being a small enough turbo for that instant spool. I've been debating for a year now. Go Vortex Std, or stay IS38. I really only want 400whp (which is the IS38 on full E85). But running full E around my parts is a major PITA since supply is super limited. And the IS38 is known to be weak at that level (unless you get an IS38+). However Vortex is not quite as linear delivery, and a teeny bit laggier. It's a tough choice. Especially since I want to throw a Wavetrac in (non PP life). Either of these is a big chunk of change. But I'm leaning more towards the LSD.
I’d stay is38 since you’re going to be giving up a lot on the low end and putting a wavetrak in is a lot of $$. Maybe you could save that money towards a MK8.5 with an LSD? 🤔
@@rambow70 not a fan of the 8/8.5's interior or exterior. They're fugly inside & out. Even though they have better performance. I'd never buy one. Plus, this is my last GTI. Next car will be an upgrade, not a sidegrade. Something like an RS3 or A90 for example.
@@rambow70 yeah, I've fallen in love with them. To be frank, I have no plans on upgrading anytime soon. Hence willing to spend the coin on a wavetrac. I'm planning on keeping my MK7 for a good while longer more. Easily get another 5 years out of it assuming it doesn't explode/burn down/totaled. 2 years ago I replaced the motor after a spark plug broke on me. While the body has 110k on it. This DKFA motor only has 40k right now. It's got A LOT more life left in it.
You may have some competition buddy because I just picked up my mk7 while my motor is getting pulled on the ttrs and I am already looking at turbo kits for the mk7 😂 I hold titles for New England with no social media presence. But the shop I have backing me is amazing and he just got authorized to sell VP so I’m going x85 on everything 😅
The ttrs is getting a tte 855, built motor and a stage 3 meth kit all done in house. The gti is getting a cts turbo jb-640 rs with mpi and custom dyno tune from United Motorsport.
Ok Chris come clean you claim to be in Vermont but say you would not mind having the fastest GTI in New Hampshire? 05:04 so which is it? Are you really in New Hampshire but claim to be in Vermont? 😅😂
