No matter what I do I can't get my inkscape file to vector cut on my local epilogue printer. I've read some places this is common with inkscape and the only way to actually vector a image is exporting it to different apps? My file isn't even a complex image either it's just 2d black and white to. I've tried looking everywhere and from what I can gather the general consensus is that there is no fix and it's a fairly common problem and to just suck it up and export it? It's even weirder because the file was vector cutting at a different place I sent it to whom just failed to scale it right. =/ I feel like inkscape should make this a easy and straight forward thing not this like impossible to figure out deal. It's like literally the entire end game purpose of their app XD
I am new to Inkscape and spent a long time trying to trace an image to convert it to a vector. If I had watched this video straight away I would have saved myself hours of faffing about. Great video, thank you.
This is the first video I've found that actually had the trace end up with a full color output! Thank you! As for the other things, it was nice how you explained each option even if you weren't going to use it. Nicely done! 😃😊😃💥
Hi teacher, first thank you for your video. I have a problem .I use this method for vectorizing my image but after exporting the quality doesn't change and the picture is not different from its first quality, what should I do?
Quick question I love how you teach & I’ve really would love to take your Inkscape course but every time I click on the link it keeps telling me this page is unavailable?? Did you remove it or something? Thank you so much for your knowledge
This was super simple thanks!! Especially the grouping/ungrouping! I would like to know what size and format do you save this image? I’m doing textiles and need to save as pdf for printing? Thank you!!!
@@ArdentDesigns Export/Save...whatever, but you left out details. I watched another video AFTER yours where she went into better detail about EXPORTING it.
Exactly the tool I need. But I just downloaded and don't have "show preview" option and version looks very old. I downloaded v1.1 (2021) , what version is this?
Great video. How do you do this if you're wanting to just pull an image of one person out of a group picture and just vectorize that one person within the group picture? So I have a picture that doesn't have a white background, and just want to use one person from that picture and then make a vectorized image of them. Thanks again!
You would need to use the pen tool to trace a shape over the person. Then select the shape and image and go to object--> clip-->set. You would need to export the result as png and then drag it back in to Inkscape. Then vectorize. Good luck!
@@ArdentDesignsThank you. That worked and erased the background. How do I then save the file so that it just captures the image, and not the square background? I want to import it into another photo, but when I do it will bring the image in with the background square white box, and then square box with cover up other parts of the photo. Thanks!!
@@ArdentDesigns It's still show the box around them, though it is transparent, it leave the outline of the box in the wood carving. Do you have a video on how this is done?
so you don/t need to put image on a new layer? would this be the same as converting the image into paths? is scans same thing as layers any idea how this affects image for printing purposes for print on demand. thanks
I can only see one unanswered question about this on a forum. As I understand it, Inkscape needs XQuartz to run on Mac so perhaps there is incompatibility in some areas.
My experience is that Inkscape doesn't match the colors well. You can really see it if you use a few scans on something with just a few colors (e.g. a JPEG of a silkscreen.) Increasing the number of scans may help that.
Let me know if you guys have any questions, and thanks for watching!
Hi, thanks for the video, it was very helpfull. Should I save as inkscape svg or sgv flat? Is there any difference?

Should have probably mentioned how to save out the vector image but good enough either way
_what a great tutorial_
For Inkscape 1.0 they hid it under Multiple Scans. So you just click the Multiple Scans button and work from there.
Hey, thanks for letting me know there was an update! They even added round corner widget (fillet/chamfer), I'm really pleased about that :)
Nice tutorial keep up the good work GBU

This was super simple thanks!! Especially the grouping/ungrouping! I would like to know what size and format do you save this image? I’m doing textiles and need to save as pdf for printing? Thank you!!!
Anything for print should be saved at 300 dpi. As for size, ask your printer for their needs. If pdf is needed, then that is the format to save to.
if we use this technique in t shirt printing , the quality of the print is good ?
The final result Will be infinitely scalable. You can't print the image on a Building 😉 if you want.
Wooow it helped me a lot, thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍
