Rest in ever loving peace, in Soul Heaven, brotha Lee Pittman. Although I graduated from HS in 1973, I never heard this song until 1977 in an unfortunate place in my life. But, I heard the song, interpreted by three brothas singing it acapella in the prison corridors. I thought they just made it up on-the-fly. It was so powerful, but I only remembered a snippet of the opening lyrics. It stayed with me for forty-three years. Only yesterday, I inadvertently stubbled upon the original version on YT music. Thanks for the memories. When some of us were tough, head-strong young-bucs, real love and dreams, still permeated the air. It was tough, yet, fair.
