Ray, I found out why the beater bar brush wasn't spinning. I took off the side of the ball to look at the connections. There was a broken red wire. I repaired it and my DC25 is working once again.
Your video is perfect, can you tell me the site to buy the the three buttons? I tried to get them from Dyson's site. I could not get the switches from them
TIP: if you have lost the grey pushbutton’s shorter spring, as happened to me, a spring taken from a fat pushbutton Pen/Biro and cut to size will work for Dyson Ball or similar models with an AC Power Push Button assembly as shown in this video. Must be a fattish pushbutton pen. That shorter spring can have a slightly smaller outer diameter than standard, eg 4mm will work and cut it to approximately 10mm extended length and it will work ok. It worked for me. Cut, install and test before installing the complete AC Power Switch assembly onto the Vacuum Cleaner body. The springs need to be of similar wire thickness approximately to compress similarly/adequately. The Red pushbutton spring is the longer 19mm one and it has an outer diameter of 4.7 or 4.8mm. I did not test to see if the Pen spring would have worked there but I think it might work too. This way you can quick fix and not need to order just 1 spring. I discovered that If you call Dyson UK as I did on 10 November, sadly, you can expect to be told that they are busy and average waiting time may be up to ½ hour. So I hung up. I did not try email as the website said to call. I could not find data to confirm exactly which spring pat number to order and I could not find spring technical specification info for the listed springs and the description did not confirm, eg with a diagram, precisely where that spring was used. Sadly many companies have similar poor / cost cutting after sales technical support. IMO Dyson do sell a very high quality, well designed, robust product, the component quality and repairability are very good.
Thanks for the swift response @@DIYRAY. In this case there was no intermittent and, based on search results anyway, motor failure is more common; guess a voltmeter across terminals when on will confirm, but just wondered if there was another way I could confirm (or eliminate other components as cause). Thanks for the video
In my case turned out to be broken wire in yoke loom. Didn't even have to check switches: checked for power at head terminal: none, start working my way back to switch >> first removed cover on side of ball: immediately saw broken wire >> re-join to confirm as cause >> replaced yoke loom >> fixed!
@@seansverige any chance you (or anyone!) might have a link to a video showing you how to do this? By process of elimination, I’m pretty sure that’s where the problem is. Thanks! Patti
Change all switches at once. I though the front head assembly motor stopped working and this was a year after I replaced the two main switches. After replacing the third switch, the problem was resolved.
I’ve replaced the buttons and the entire brush head, and I still can’t get it working. Any other ideas on what the problem could be? All other functions of the vacuum seem to work properly.
I watched another video- in it, he recommended removing the side panel (as you are looking down as if you are using it, on the left side) - three screws, that at times the wires might be damaged.
I’m sorry but why do you stop recording when you take the switches out, this is important if I end up not knowing how to get them out. I’m gonna be mad. And what’s up with the reset button, why didn’t you just reset it, and then it should’ve worked
thankyou for the button with your video and another user you guys saved me £300 for a new dyson DC25 , all the parts (button burnt out on brush side) replacements cost £18 and now working as good as new ! thankyou thankyou
Yes, I know the focus is off on some parts of the video but you still able to follow my instructions in repairing your dyson. Thanks for the feedback and please remember to subscribe to the channel and like the video.
Whilst we may appreciate these types of video, how difficult can it be to get someone to hold the camera so we can see what's going on, also edit and stick to the bascs without the umming & aarrring, perhaps I'm being a bit harsh, but it hurts to watch sometimes. Thanks for at least trying.

I lost the little spring to the button for the tank. Do you happen to have any idea how to get another one?

Please check the description section of this video. There’s a link in the description section.
I was able to find the three switches I wanted for my Dc25 vacuum on ebay. The three buttons are new.
eBay is where I found my switches @ a good price too.

Wow 😮, thanks for sharing your experience with us.
how did you establish the problem was with the switch not the motor (which can also fail)?
The button was working intermittently. Plus the cost of the switch was a lot cheaper than replacing a motor. So I give it a try and it work.

Wonderful vacuum!
I think so too!

Sorry, without seeing this myself I don’t know. Make sure you have it wired correctly. Good luck
I watched another video- in it, he recommended removing the side panel (as you are looking down as if you are using it, on the left side) - three screws, that at times the wires might be damaged.
My problem is i cant get a tool to remove the 3 screws in the UK as its not a usual head shape.
what type of screws?
@@DIYRAY the three i need to take out to remove the front panel that covers the switches
@@DIYRAY Apparently they are called torque screws and ive got them out.
Great. The front cover is a Bit*$ to get off. just take your time. After you are up and running, please remember to sub me. Thxs
Go to “e-spares” they sell U.K. toolsets with * configuration and also do some more videos, relevant to DC25. They also provide the spare switches.
How do you know if your switches are no good. Thanks
Look at the video again 1:08. I show you that the switch is bad. remember to subscribe, Thx
How do I actually get the cover off? It’s a really weird ‘screw’ no idea how to get it out
You could do a contitnuity test with multi meter see if the connection inside the switch is working thats a good way to test
I cant get the brush roller to come appart any sug
Edward Jones I haven’t had any problems with that particular part. Try finding the schematics for your model. Maybe that will work out
Im having trouble trying to put the actuator arm back. Cant figure out how it goes back in. Anyone have any suggestions?
Did you get the unit back together? It shouldn't be that hard. You just reverse the way you took it off.
Right, but the arm fell off the red button and the parts manual says there is a spring with that arm which i coukdnt find so i ordered one
@@ctt4811 Where did you order the spring from? We had the same thing happen. Didn't know the size of the spring.
Mimi L I googled the parts manual and got the number from that. The switches from amazon and the spring from Parts Warehouse.com
Thank you vacuum has been a beast to figure out
