Buddy Box: The Secret to Safe Flying

A quick video talking about the benefits of using a buddy box system as an aid when learning how to fly radio controlled aircraft. The buddy box is a way of connecting two transmitters together so you don't have to pass the transmitter when learning to fly!
In the video I use two Futaba transmitters, but the principle is the same for most transmitter manufactures.

I have the 16SZ and was thinking of another backup Futaba radio. I saw your video of adding voice callouts with the 16IZS, does the 18SZ also have this function?

Hi. Unfortunately the 18SZ does not have the speech function. I contacted Futaba and they said they will not be adding it. I think the 16SZ and super version are good radios.

I’m making a bit of room, plus I need some money back in the bank as my job doesn’t feel too secure at the moment. It was a tough decision, both planes are mint 😕

Odd that you fellahs are using AU$1000+ radios and are still tripping over buddy box cords!? Just identify the PPM In and Power wires on that Master's trainer port and stick in ANY breed of receiver with a PPM output to be used as the Trainee's connection from their (any breed) radio.
Radiomaster did (or still do?) sell the WT-01 self powered trainee's receiver unit with a set of adapter cables (including 1 for that odd Futaba socket) but just some Dupont jumper wire socket connectors and some chewing gum to secure the receiver are all that's needed. Well you might need to cover the result somehow to avoid the Black Balling for lowering the tone of The Club! 😜😊

Haha hey thanks for your tip! I really don’t know why they don’t use some wireless tech for the buddy function, surely that would be easily to do!
I’ll do some research on your suggestion. Thanks.
