I’m always amazed at how humble he is in interviews as he is a legend to our hobby. Still wish he was running BGS.

This was fantastic, always enjoy James Beckett's observations and comments. What Beckett did for the hobby was to mainstream and streamline it. As someone whose been in the media for a few decades, the quality of the content has gone down hill. Grammatical mistakes, opinion instead of facts and\or just not reporting important stories or leaving or editing important key details. Jim is right on this, and he's correct on the late 90s stuff too. Collector's got really angry in 1981-1982 and complained that they'd never come back. They did, and then the 94 Strike happened and once again said the same thing with a 40% drop across the board. It took 5 years to rebound, and a lot of companies merged or went out of business. Bottom line though, is that hobby history is important to learn from. This has been excellent!

I enjoyed Dr. Beckett's insights. Straightforward, honest and his own thoughts.

Great talk man! was a fun watch 🙂 I hate to say it - I do hate that he is linked to the grading company at this point. He really is the main Hobby HOFer and new people in the hobby only know the name as a grading company that is faltering.
