Right place, right time, mobile phone handy. 1 Japanese baby quail hatched last night, another this afternoon and here is a third one in the act of hatching. Welcome to the world, little one!
Cheers for this, been searching for "how to raise coturnix quail" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Eeyila Rudimentary Expediency - (do a search on google ) ? It is a good one of a kind product for discovering how to raise healthy and fertile quail minus the headache. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my brother in law got amazing success with it.
Leanne Rey I thought they needed to get there bearing while in the egg which is why you don't turn them in the last 2 days. They are probably wondering, "Hey what's going on out there.!"
michael therrien I see. Interesting. No kidding, right?! Being moved around and stepped on, while they are trying to hatch, must be a bit of a weird and/or scary experience for the baby quail. It must be hard to get their bearing when they are constantly being moved around by other hatched baby quail.
Hi Meg, the incubation period is 18 days. Once pipping has started (i.e the shell is chipped from within by the chick), it could be anything between 1- 3 hours for the chick to emerge. The eggs you see hatching in the video - that's just the final few minutes of the process.
@@allamericantrash yeah . I got an incubator and it broke so I got a new one that is taking a long time to assemble so idk what I'm gonna do . I don't want to kill the eggs
What temperature and humidity percentage do you need to incubate these? We are going to incubate some quail in March and I just wanted to know about what temperature and humidity percentage the incubator should be kept at
@@circa134 chicken eggs in grocery stores are rarely if ever fertilized. They only keep the hens and kill the males. Quail eggs at stores can be fertilized pretty frequently but get the freshest batch you can get.
Hi just saw that your comment was only a week ago and just had to reply because I’m also getting quails well I am incubating them right now it’s day 16
Aftab Ahmad Sorry to hear that 😖. It might be the conditions weren't right - maybe the temperature wasn't correct, or the humidity was too high/too low. Too high humidity = chicks drown and die inshell. Too low humidity = chicks can't break out and die inshell. Did you do a post-mortem to find out whether the ones that did not hatch were fully formed, or even if there were any chicks inside those eggs?
Aftab Ahmad Was your incubator set specifically to Japanese Quail? The temperature, humidity levels and length of incubation are different for different types of birds. For example, Japanese Quail incubate for 18 days, the first 15 days you turn the eggs, then the last 3 days you stop the turning. Also the temperature is lowered on the last 3 days. Humidity needs to go up in the last 3 days, but not so much that the chicks drown in-shell. Dead chicks in-shell means something was not correct with the settings.

Oh no please don’t open the incubator when the chicks have pipped and are in mid-hatch. They might get shrink-wrapped by the membrane from the sudden drop in humidity and get stuck in the egg... On another note, those chicks are cute!
The newly hatched chicks need to stay in the incubator until they've fluffed up. This can be up to 2 days (48 hours). During this time, more eggs would be hatching, and the cheeping the neely hatched chicks make actually serve to encourage the ones still in the shell to start pipping.
@@nxn7154 That's what happens lol. The ones that are out already encourage the ones still in their shells to hurry up and hatch. Baby quails have their own reserves of yolk that they survive on for the first 48 hours of their lives, and need just heat. So they're best left in the incubator til there are no more eggs hatching. Then the oldest ones (the strongest and fluffiest) get moved to a brooding box (with water and heat source), and the younger ones follow later once they've fluffed up and are running around.
@@alyzenmoonshadow1838 you're know everything teehee...did you raising one? they are soooo tiny and cute and all :3 but why are they need such a high temperature? i heard that they're need 38c??

The hatched quails are playing bowling with the unhatched ones

The hatched quails just walk right over each other and bump into all the unhatched eggs. Funny

When the other quails move around the eggs, they’re trying to wake up them.
Im incubating only one to kind of test it out but I'm kinda scared it's gonna get lonely
yeah, you need atleast two quails or the one will get lonely and depressed

Shay Whittle thanks
This is crazy! Can this be done with regular eggs?
Yes, you can certainly hatch regular hen's eggs with this incubator too. As well as other fowl, like duck, geese, etc.
Not the ones from the fridge though
@@SweetTikTokLife actually I heard some of them hatch. Has to be really fresh though
