I recommend to listen to much more of this marvellous band!
You are about to discover the most underrated group band in rock history.
So true
I concur!
Agreed!! @@redfog42
That would have to be Camel but BJH would be second to me.
Absolutely
John Lees, the compser of this song, is now on the "Farewell Tour" and he still performs this song. It is still very actuall after all thes years.
Now John Lees added "Afghanistan" and "Ukraine",,,
That show how times are changeing, but some things do not change !!
Sad moment!
Maybe it reminded you of The Moody Blues? This band was constantly compared to them and in reply described themselves as 'the poor man's Moody Blues'. Much underappreciated, undervalued and underrated band with many epic songs in an enormous catalogue. Well done.
Other great songs by this band - Cheap The Bullet; Poor Boy Blues; For No-one; Summer Soldier and Medicine Man.
You are in for a treat. They harmonised like the Beatles but were better produced an better musicians... Highly melodic toght foursome. BJH 1968 to present. Thats over 50 years of brilliant Progressive Rock. Listen without prejudice & make up your own minds. Respect!
(BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST) a band i used to listen to in the 70s. Brilliant
A band that rarely get the credit they deserve, they were issuing albums and touring regularly when other more famous bands vanished for years at a time.
One of the best understated UK prog bands. The media called them the 'Poor man's Moody Blues'. The band, having a sense of humour, actually wrote a song with that title with hints of moody blue tunes throughout the song. They also cleverly did a song using The Beatles song names which they called 'titles'.
An excellent band. Some lps are better than others but this one is pretty good.
Octoberon is one of my faves, but Gone to Earth was my first BJH LP. This song is one of the best songs out there on this subject but doesn't get the recognition it should!

?
this was from SUICIDE ? ... also from Barclay James Harvest ... !
BJH were a band I THOUGHT I should like, but after buying 2 albums and seeing them live, (late 70s/early 80s) I didn't have much interest. Their songs and the band themselves didn't seem to have much personality. Hearing this again now hasn't done anything to make me want to try again. Sorry!
Thanks for letting us know.
