Unfortunately the NHS model for dentistry is broken. Utterly and completely. It needs to be changed. I've barely been working as in nhs dentist in this country for a few months and I already feel the burnout and the intense need to go private. Which I will.. As soon as I possibly can. Great video! As always.
Hello Komal! Thank you for explaining that to us! I have heard that dental nurses working for NHS feel the same pressure and not enjoying the work as much as they would do in a private practice.
Hi! I’m a third year dental student and this video was so helpful (your channel is very informative- and I appreciate it so much) I’ve been thinking about my career path and private dentistry seems to be the best option 😅 both for myself but also ensuring the quality of my care and help I offer to people I want to ask… what do you think is the best thing I can be doing now? Is it easy to move into private practice after DFT or do you need lots of ‘extracurriculars’? Thank you so much and I am looking forward to your next videos!!
Hey thanks for your lovely comment! The best thing you can do is continue to enhance your skills and when you do qualify don’t get comfortable in the NHS, always aspire to do you best, go on some good courses and you will be fine :)
thank for for this video, it’s a really simple and clear explanation of the uda system, as a dental student I’m so scared of going into my real job after graduation because I’m not that fast and efficient at all, i take a lot of time to do procedures, can practices kick you out for being slow? I’m really worried
Thank you! Don’t be scared, as a self employed dentist you can dictate the length of your appointments, but not every practice owner is ok with that. Try to find a practice that aligns with your goals and isn’t just focused on targets. It might be difficult but you will grow the most where you have a supporting boss!

My pleasure! Yes it’s true, imagine turnaround of patients being every 10-20 minutes, there’s so much running around for dental nurses!
