  • I bought this X Files pinball machine, which was made by Sega in 1977, machine many years ago, stuck it in Jay the neighbors living room for a while then it came home and was folded up for years. I finally bust it out again!

    Loved the video. I really think these machines are underrated, they pack a lot of things under the hood. I just got a starship troopers, and was positively surprised. looking at this pin, there are a LOT of similarities, they definitively look like there were made by the same people. The machine is in excellent shape. I don't know how you resisted having it on one corner for half a decade.

    Hey Mike! Happy Father’s Day to you!!
    Wonderful video, I watched it on Father’s Day and I really enjoyed your longer version of episode 1. Like two episodes in one, love it. For the 5 volt issue, I was thinking your ground source was weak. I saw your loosely mounted circuit board and after the fact grounding strap. Glad you found the problem.
    Well buddy, hope you have a great week. Take care my friend!

      Thanks Smitty. Happy Fathers Day to you as well! Hope you had a great one! Yep totally, could have made 2 videos from that one! Played it some on Saturday and it never reset so fingers crossed. :) Thanks and same to you!

    Hey man, don't worry about making longer videos. I personally love 'em! Anything I can learn about repairing and restoring these games is super valuable for me. You've actually inspired me! Since I help someone maintain a HUGE and INSANE collection, I've started recording videos of my own, documenting my journey in pinball from a competitive player to more of a technician role and (hopefully) one day being in the designer role! Hopefully I'll get a channel up soon here on TH-cam, I'll definitely be shouting you out. Thanks for the awesome content, dude.

      Hey Jet! Wow that is amazing. So glad to hear that! Thanks so much for the kind words. You will have to let me know when you get your channel going, I will be happy to check out the action! Perhaps a quick tour of the insane collection :)

    Hi Mike!
    A suggestion, just based on my own paranoid nature, but while working in the backbox, you might consider removing the florescent light until you're done, and consider replacing it with an LED equivalent, as the LED replacement bulbs are usually plastic, and less prone to breakage...

    • @pinballshenanigans
      @pinballshenanigans  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yes good call. I actually have a couple LED tubes. I could even do a mini tutorial on how to do that with changing the wiring ect! Been a while since I have done an LED tube.

      @@pinballshenanigans Thanks Mike! I kind of figured that it might be best to avoid even the potential of hundreds of tiny shards of thin glass, and mercury vapor, even if it were contained to the backbox (which it almost certainly wouldn't be...😏)

      Yaman I agree! Maybe it was down for some time due to the broken playfield glass evidence!

    I have an X Files pinball machine that was also doing the reset issue. Now I know how to fix it with your very helpful video. I also need to replace light in one of the pop bumpers. Can this be done from under the playfield or do i need to take off the ramps from over the pop bumpers?.
    Also the X light that is above the "I" in "FBI" is really dim and could use a change. That looks like a very difficult one to access though. Not to fond of that particular design. I think it's under the subway tunnel.

    • @pinballshenanigans
      @pinballshenanigans  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right on glad my video will be helpful for your reset issue. You typically cannot change pop bumper light bulbs from under the playfield. I guess you possibly could if you removed the entire pot bumper assembly.
