  • I couldn't work it out at first, but after carrying out further checks on this one it became clear that the problem wasn't boiler related. The second job, well, the water quality speaks for itself!
    Thank you everyone for your support on the channel and hopefully 10k will be hit before midnight tonight!

    ref WB. Check the flow rate through the kitchen tap and check against MI's.
    The boilers often have a low min flow rate - 4l/m ? in which case perhaps the kitchen tap should have fired the boiler regardless, indicating a poor flow rate through the tap AND a defective flow turbine ? Just more forgiving on a low pressure loss tap elsewhere ?
    The Vaillant hex, although they have parallel pipes, they can often be cleared. I have had good success with strong cleaner particularly on the 37KW boilers (prone to hex blockage along with the 415/418). You will need to clean the system for a new boiler anyway so why not clean with this boiler and give it a chance ?
    Ps when you clean it fit a tee on the return so you obtain the greatest flow rate through the boiler and reverse too.

    Hi, a flow cup would have been a good help, then check against the manual to see what the minimum flow rate to activate the turbine. The temp at the kitchen tap was low compared to the bathroom sink tap , I would have a look for a faulty mixer maybe a shower mixer cartridge , I’ve had the problem a good few times, there’s a flow restrictor in the boiler to restrict flow through the plate to plate so if there’s a faulty mixer or blending valve the flow on the cold would be greater than the hot stopping the flow turbine working properly. One good way to check is to check the temperature on the hot pipe directly below the boiler and compare it to the temp at the tap, and if possible isolate the shower if fitted . Sorry for long explanation but you could change the tap for the wrong reason . Regards

      Thanks mate, so I did isolate the cold feed under the boiler and it stopped the water coming out of the hot tap, which would have ruled out a passing mixer as then I would have expected cold water to keep flowing through? Appreciate the suggestions 👍🏾

      Nope there wasn't anything else and it was wedged open. I reckon this was the airing cupboard for an older system and whoever converted it left the zone valve in

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The plates on Vaillants very rarely get blocked as the canoe filter protects it. That's why I stripped out the flow pipe to check it. On heating the boiler wouldn't ramp up to full rate either

  • @204sjg
    @204sjg 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Another great video cheers. Do you carry genuine manufacturer orings for all boilers or clean and grease the existing when you take off parts and put them back or have a third party box of multiple sizes that fit other boilers? I find I waste time having to go off and get the exact orings from merchants as having all the different ones would be too expensive - changed a flexicom hx hex the other day and city want £8 for just one flow/return elbow o ring. Thanks

    • @cputilitysolutions
      @cputilitysolutions  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most of the time I've gotten away with re-greasing existing ones. I carry some of the genuine spare o-rings but I also have an assorted box as well which has most of the sizes in it. Depending on the condition of the o-rings I've been ok with reusing them so far. Bet you the next time it leaks now 😂
