- Thanks for joining me on this trip from Riyadh to Dubai!
While I’ve flown on this route a good 5 times with Emirates, this time I’ll go with Saudia.
There are many flights between Riyadh and Dubai daily, most of which are on wide bodies.
So if you ever fancy flying a wide body on a short flight; this is the perfect route to do so!

Really loved this as always. Remember seeing a Saudia 777-300 up close at the terminal at O.R Tambo Int' in Joburg while waiting for a connecting flight and couldn't believe how massive these birds are up close. Love Saudia.

Awesome economy product and exelent video. The sand take off really make me feel more epic and beautiful in my opinion. And the legroom doesn't look that bad.
The legroom was quite above average.
And yes, the desert take off has it’s charm! It would be quite a different experience were I to be standing outside though😅

AHHHH I thought I missed one of your last videos, I return yesterday from London, I flow with EL Al on their 787-9(for the first time), what a shame :D. I loved the 789! so quiet, with large windows, I Thought of you when the pilot start the engines, it to sooo long(i remember you said that on one of the videos). and the return was on Wizzair from Luton..we had 2 hours delay..so annoying, but I had fun overall flying again after 2 years due to Covid :D.
Can't wait for the next videos!

Congrats on your first flight after such a long time, I’m happy you managed and on such a great plane.
Regarding Wizzair, yeah, what to do.. There is some flights from Dubai (5 hour ones) and I don’t know if I love you all so much to go and film that.
Still waiting for my Israel trip, just want them to remove the on arrival PCR test because I already tested negative leaving Dubai but positive on arrival in Serbia and that would really mess up my life.
But it’s in the making!

I was surprised with seeing ladies traveling alone, or sitting next to male strangers, and nobody covering up anymore.

Hola Michael! Yep has to do with the heat re startup. It takes too much to fire up two engines at the same time. Preserve power is crucial around that region! Love your commentary as always! Hope to meet you one day!! FLIP.

I’ve got many videos already recorded and don’t really release in order, as in April I flew Emirates a LOT but can’t only publish EK😅
So work travel is taking me today to South Africa, will do some some local flights there too, and next week hopefully to Australia! I’m booked with Emirates but negociating to do a longer detour via somewhere in Asia. Let’s see!

I love your videos, always with good humor and a sarcastic touch. Could you make a video explaining the positions of the flaps/slats? As a layman, I'm very curious about your descriptions of takeoffs and landings.

I try to explain about the flaps and slats each video, but a video just on flaps and slats would require quite some work with animations and such. I’ll see what I can do some day!
Good review, thanks! The seat quality and leg space sound especially good. The one thing that Saudia seems to get pulled up on most often is the service level - both on the ground and onboard. It sounds like on this short flight that wasn't an issue?
I believe that Saudia is improving service level wise to attract more tourists or connecting travelers vs the other Middle East Airlines. I trust there will be many more changes coming to Saudia soon, but I can see it’s already heading the right way.
I’ve even read that the government is planning a whole new airline, so I guess Saudia would want to step it up to avoid that.
Time will tell! The interesting world of aviation..

The reason the flaps are lifted by an inch during engine start-up of a B787 during engine start and taxi is to prevent scraping of the ends of the spoilers from scraping on the flaps when the flaps are extended. I am sure you will know already by now ;-)

I was so sad when i discovered Saudia changed thier livery, the gold blue one looks so royal
Do you know why during landing, the crew would ask passengers to raise there window blinds up?
I do know why Rafi!
So in case of any emergency people, specially crew, would have to immediately assess the outside conditions (fire, smoke, etc). So if a window blind happens to be closed it could waste precious seconds.
There has been many recent events of evacuations with doors being opened that should never have been opened.
So it’s basically just a prevention!

In terms of land area it’s the second biggest after Dammam’s King Fahd Airport.
But you’ve seen how the area looks like😛.
The snack service was more then enough. But I’m quite sure that there used to be a hot meal not long ago.. And maybe Emirates does so too. I’ll find out.

I want to tell you that all your videos have some sort of spelling issues. Most of the time it's just a typo, but still I think you can make it better. Please take care of this issue. Otherwise everything else is perfect.

Everything can always be done better, and I do see the typo’s when the video is already published. Sadly my editor has no autocorrect and it takes me over a week to edit most video’s working for many hours mostly until late at night, so there’s just nothing more I can do as I end up seeing double.
I could further delay video publishing another day to review the entire thing but just too lazy to go through that 😆

I enjoy this one. I enjoy to see all the progress going on in Saudi Arabia.
It feels like flying in the 21st century (I’ve had some interesting experiences on Saudi Arabian many years ago that felt like a time machine).
And I’m glad most censorship is gone, now I can fully enjoy movies again! Some used to be cut a lot.
I’m sure there is many more good changes coming soon.

@IbrPlayz not all travellers are Muslim and alcohol in moderation has never killed anyone on a plane, hence the cabincrew monitoring the distribution of alcohol to a passenger. Not “understanding” why people choose to not use a dry airline is ignorant at best.

Hey Manjula, I guess it depends on the day.. It was windy so it’s quite normal in the Middle East to get dusty..
It all depends on the place, I’m currently in Delhi and can’t see anything out of the window due to pollution😅
With the prayer in aircraft feel like you are in mosque ? I definitely will not flying with Saudi! The prayers will make me very uncomfortable!
I don’t mind them after living for over 11 years in The Middle East. I hear them all the time.
Etihad also has travel prayers before every safety demo. And I’m sure many others still do.
Most of Saudia’s customers are Muslim and a vast majority fly for religious purposes, which explains the prayer area too, so I’m understanding with it.
But I’ll have to say the voice is a bit serious😄
@@TheLayoverAviation sure ! I would prefer to use Emirates or Qatar as is done more respectful to others passengers? I would be not supporting any Christian country introduced Christian prayer on aircraft as this also could keep Muslims or other believers uncomfortable
I understand.
And yes, don’t think there is any airline with some Christian prayers around. Even I would find that weird.
However, from an aviation lover perspective I love the variation.
I’m glad I’ll be able to say one day that I saw “Saudia’s prayer area”, the A380 bar lounge, and jet fuel powered aircraft. All these things will be a thing of the past at some point!
