Neil referred to this song as being about a powerful “religious experience”. However, he said it isn’t the kind of religious experience between “man and God”. Rather it is one designed to be between a man and the woman he loves.
You’ve got to listen to Neil Diamonds song: “BROTHER LOVES TRAVELING SALVATION SHOW” like you’re right there at an old fashioned tent revival!! It’ll get you going, it’s so good!!! Similar feel to this one!!💕👍 Brother Love this one has a build up too, BJ said he likes a build up!!!!
SO many great Neil Diamond songs! Sometime you should both listen to his live LP Hot August Night. I think you will really enjoy it. Thanks for sharing this one.
I think this was the first Neil Diamond song I heard when I was in grade school, grew up with his music, he's a legend. Love his music, especially the early years. "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show", "Cherry, Cherry", "Sweet Caroline", "Cracklin' Rosie", "Solitary Man", etc....! There are so many!
Always head towards a Neil Diamond reaction. One of the great singer/songwriters. A class act from beginning to end. A lovely human being to.. Hello to both of you. Great channel..has been for years. Thanks
Love Neil, thanks. Not too many reactors cover him. Lots of hits, and IIRC he wrote most of his stuff himself. I think there was a Broadway musical of his life and career.
In an interview with the BBC, Diamond said of this song: "What I tried to do was create a religious experience between a man and a woman, as opposed to a man and a god." Amazing Neil! And the amazing instruments that we don't hear anymore.
THIS & "Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show" are my favorite Neil Diamond songs. They both elevate you in a spiritual way...but differently. This one is eerily beautiful (I love the strings too, Asia!🎻). And the other is upbeat...makes you wish you had a tambourine & makes you want to stand up & testify!🤣 Hallelujah!!✝️☮️ Do that one please!🩵✨️🩵 P.S. I wish you'd react to Neil doing both songs live!✨️✨️
This is what i was raised in Kodiak Alaska a beautifl Island in the late 60s and the 70s we had out standing songs and song writers like Neil Diamond John Denver Cat Stevens Gordon Lightfoot Jim Croce this is why my faverite Deacade for OUT STANDING music of is the 70s
Ive first heard this great song in 69, actually never knew what it was about. To me its one of his best. Very successful singer started in mid 60s. He drove to an amusement park from the Bronks NY to sing in Wilkes Barre PA. Tickets were 2 dlrs in 67. A great singer. Many very good songs. You got to Me, Cherry Cherry, Shilo, Brother Love and more
Nice reaction to an American icon!! For me, one of the most uplifting singers ever! He and Barbra Streisand were HS classmates and in the same school chorus...my favorite (so hard to pick on) of Neil's music is "America". And the countless duets he's made over the decades!
The better, more impactful version was recorded with the London Symphony. It is a song equating new love to an almost religious experience. Feeling like that person is your 'everything'
I read some where that some times Neil writes with what is call stream of consciousness writing. Where you sit with pen and paper and write what passes through mind.
Not to sure why you’re listening to studio versions of Neil Diamond. He was a live performer, one of the greatest ever. You could review his live version of Holly Holy from the BBC 1971, it has fair copyright use…
Love this song so much. I have it on a playlist I listen to when driving. We listened to Neil Diamond a lot when I was a child. My mom and I would sing this so loud together. ❤ Also, have you reacted to Cat Stevens? He is another one we'd listen to. Absolutely, beautiful songs.
You really ought to do yourselves a favor and listen to the live version from Hot August Night. Heck, listen to the whole 4th side of that double LP. It's amazing.
Neil diamond reportedly said the song is about a religious experience between a man and a woman. I'm supposing it's a woman that builds him up and gives him what he was sorely missing and lacking in his life. She gave him the sun. She healed him.
Red rock video...I have watched you alot and seem to be looking at country western music....well as a person who grew up idolizing rodeo there is no better story than lane frost vs red rock.....as someone who lived through watching the battles it was riveting...I never had enough talent to really compete, but lane frost was something special
The live version of this from 1972 is far superior 💟That was great, thank you so much. PLEASE could you consider the following?…. Love is strange by Paul McCartney and wings People Say by The Meters Love is Like Oxygen by The Sweet Rat Trap by the Boomtown Rats Some Velvet Morning by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood The whole of ‘Concerto for a rainy day’( 4 songs) by ELO 1952 Vincent Black Lightning by Richard Thompson Killing of Georgie by Rod Stewart Expressway to your Heart by Margot Thunder I contain multitudes by Bob Dylan Don’t Answer Me by Alan Parsons Project Babies by Pulp A Girl Like You by Edwin Collins Tearz by El Michels Affair Atlantis by Donovan Kow Tow by Mick Jagger Bon Under a Bad Sign by Jimmy Hendrix Funky Train by The Poets of Rhythm Your the one for me Fatty by Morrissey Hot Burrito #1 by Flying Burrito Brothers Everyday by Slade Is it like today by World party Feel Flows by the Beach Boys What’s that You’re Doing? by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder Who knows Where the Time Goes by Fairport Convention Shakin all over by Johnny Kid and the Pirates Teasing’ by King Curtis (ft Eric Clapton) Reasons to Be Cheerful Part 3 by Ian Dury Vienna by Ultravox Ray Stevens- Bridget the Midget Think I’m going mad by The Rolling Stones Can’t Take My Eyes of You by Andy Williams Alone Again Or by Love You’re Gorgeous by Babybird Motherless Children by Eric Clapton So Fine by ELO Angie by Bert Jansch Life has its little ups and downs by Charlie Rich Burning buildings by Elton John there will never be another by Jimmy McGriff
Sometimes the live version of a song is superior. However, in this case I think the studio version is better. You have the firepower of the studio musical arrangement behind him. (I think "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is another example of this.) I think "Soolaimon" is another example of this. I had a live album of Neil Diamond, but it just didn't have the same effect on me as the studio versions.
Great vid! Making his eyes roll back as he immerses in bliss, it's a mind-blowing experience, I did what I mentioned last week and the look on his face says it all, I learned the exact moves following Jevie Hindlerg’s advice. After go’ogling her latest it all keeps getting crazier!
Listening to Neil Diamond is like being taken to church!
Neil Diamond is the one guy that not only older people love but so do young people. The man can sang!
And write! He is truly gifted.
Not One Bad Song. Diamond is one of a kind to Bless Our Ears!
One of my all time favorites. Almost spiritual
Remove almost
Thanks for reacting to my favorite Neil Diamond song. I think you folks are the first to do so.

The legend Neil Diamond. Awesome song.

Neil has such a beautiful voice
His lyrics emphasize the deep, passionate and personal relationship with a woman as a religious experience ❤

“Neil is the greatest songwriter of this or any generation.” Saving Silverman. Would love to see your film reaction to that!

He has such a skill writing songs. He really makes you think with his music.
Saw him in a concert with adults, kids, and even a nun in the audience

His live version on "Hot August Night" is the best recorded rendition. That entire album is his finest
💕 More Neil Diamond, Please! 🙏🏻 🎶
Beautiful song, thanks for the reaction.

Great reaction to this Neil Diamond classic...

I love this song. Take me to church Neil.❤
Love all of Neil Diamonds music. "Brother Loves Traveling Show" is my all time favorite. My mom got me hooked when I was 12 back in '83.
When I was at Keesler AFB back in the 70s I used to sing this at the base coffeehouse
I read some where that some times Neil writes with what is call stream of consciousness writing. Where you sit with pen and paper and write what passes through mind.
I love this song! Totally agree that the bass line is killer, with the piano. And the build-up gives me chills. Just sooo good!
❤ beautiful song and a favorite
Neil Diamond live album Hot August Night. A must listen. His live stuff is so much more powerful!!
Porcupine pie 😉

When I hear Neil do this song makes me want to hear his song brother love's traveling show
One of a kind!!! Simply put, AMAZING!!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤
I had every 45 he ever made up until 1974.
Everybody who can feel has had the feeling they don’t belong at some point or another. This song is meant to bring you back.
Well , okay.Big YES!!!
Can you guys play The song."hello again"off the Jazz singer album
Brother Loves' Traveling Show, Holly Holy and Suliman from Hot August Night at the Greek Theater Live!!!!
Yes! Do the live versions!
"Holly Holy" is suppose to represent a spiritual relationship between a man and woman with God.
Neil had said that this was the strong, passionate, loyal love that he has between a woman and him.
I love this song ❤️
Asia I love your interpretation, I really can see it now.
For me, the definitive Neil Diamond album is the live Hot August Night. All, or most, of his hits.
Great post...you guys need to check out RAINING ON SUNDAY by KEITH URBAN!!!!
Listen to this song on Live at the Greek Theater. Or any song from that album.
Can you guys play the song dear father? By Neil Diamond office album, Jonathan Livingston.
Good one BJ, Holly's Holy...lol you got Asia on that one...
If you guys decide to watch the show Midnight Mass on your other channel (which I highly recommend) you'll hear this song. :)
No bad choices with Neil Diamond.
Now you can add the show "Midnight Mass" (Nexflix mini-series) perfect for the Halloween season and see how this song is featured. Happy Friday!
makes me want to watch Saving Silverman

The live version from the 70s is much better ( he's wearing a red shirt ) he explains the meaning of the song and really let's go
