I’m not Democrat (I’m much further left) and most definitely not Republican, I’ll vote Harris but I’m not a Stan, but allow me to give VP Harris her props. During the period of time between losing her own presidential campaign and being chosen for VP, she was still in our teacher union meetings listening and taking notes. Also Biden/Harris funded A LOT Of government programs, I benefited from a few of them (including student loan forgiveness, renovated home through Habitat for Humanity, and faster wifi in my neighborhood). The prospect of project 2025 gaining wings under Trump, will have me in the polls for every Democrat with a pulse.

They're not going to win regardless. Imagine they build a big new party that espouses all of their favorite positions. They manage to somehow make it competitive- like they could really win the presidency. How do you staff your campaign? With disaffected Democrats. Who is going to fill all the administrative positions that require someone with some experience? With disaffected Democrats. Who are your voters going to be? Disaffected Democrats. So in the end, you'll end up with a movement that's largely made up of people who were originally Democrats. In this situation you just end up with... a Democratic party with a new name on it.

I am a proud socialist, and I am voting for Kamala. Not because of her takes on Israel & Gaza, not because I think she's gonna set the political world on fire with radical left policies to really turn everything around, but because we have to make sure we have something to fight for before we do the real work, and if Trump wins, the landscape of our politics and government will change for the worst for potentially generations to come, and that's dangerous. I think we as leftists have become way too idealized that we forget that revolutionary change doesn't occur overnight, especially in a capitalist society. The work begins with first making sure the lowest of bars are cleared, and Kamala (for better or for worse) clears that bar. After she gets into office, the real work can begin by holding her and her administration accountable. I am at least somewhat sure that Kamala will listen to what the people want far more than Trump or his cronies ever would. We have to first play the game before we can change it.

Remember when John McCane assuaged a town haller's fears about Barak Obama being an Arab by saying "No, he's a good man."? One of the positive things is that AT LEAST she cares about the peaceful transfer of power, voting rights and WOMENS REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOMS and people as a whole not being targeted by a white supremacist presidency. These things are enough to not want the other guy to win because that'll just make our lives miserable here. Based on the thumbnail, I was worried this was gonna be another like "Kamala is JUST as bad as Trump so don't vote for her... Your suffering is a sacrifice I am willing to make" take, but you have really nailed it down with this one!! I was already subscribed but now I'm double subscribed. No but seriously... I'm tired of that idea that we should reject the next step just because it isn't the top of the staircase. Of letting perfect be the enemy of good. Especially as a trans person, who is TERRIFIED of another Trump term. tylerhackner9731 said it perfectly in this comment section, pressure her heavily and recognize the stakes. It isn't healthy, as we've learned the hard way from Trump, to agree with a politician's stances unconditionally without critical thought in a cult-like manner. I hope Harris isn't the type to fold and double-down on her stance when she faces great criticism. My hopes aren't high, but I guess we'll see. Love ya! Keep making great videos.
Edit: Its common for people to misconstrue criticism for Harris on her Palestine stance as complete and total rejection of her. Not a significant number of people are saying we shouldn't vote for her under any circumstance, it really is just the liberals and misguided leftists getting defensive over Harris and insisting that she is perfect. I've fallen into that trap too, I often thought criticism of Biden should be ignored/silenced because it would be harmful to his image and cost him the election, which just led to me being willingly ignorant to his terrible complacency in genocide. You live and you learn.
Edit 2: Another crazy, but interesting thing that you touched on which resonates a lot with me: Black people not going to the polls because Kamala "isn't black" or "isn't progressive enough" is LITERALLY what the fascists want. The fascists will take advantage of a progressive movement to serve their own needs. Education, health care, child care, housing, increase minimum wage, better food etc. I don't understand her plan on housing. I live in Florida and there are so many houses for sale that no one can afford them. Some developers have decided to rent out new housing development because people can't afford to buy. Her plan is to build more houses? Just decrease inflation. Also, leave other countries alone. The government is not Christian because the Bible has so many says about worrying about your own household and minding your own business.

Building affordable houses is different than just building housing. Presidents and Congress can't just make businesses lower their prices because they say so. Something in their power is to increase the minimum wage though. But state governments aren't ignored or shouldn't be.

So why is Gaza so important but Dafur isn't? Attacks in Darfur have escalated, and experts warn of ongoing ethnic cleansing and genocide. Since April 15, 2023, half of Sudan's population, or 25 million people, are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance and protection. We sure seem hyper focused on GAZA. -- when Russia in Sudan
Nearly every internal conflict regarding resources ultimately becomes internationalized, and both Russia and China figure in Sudan’s crisis.
Sudan is Africa’s third largest producer of gold. Russia is sustaining its war in Ukraine and surviving Western economic sanctions by smuggling gold out of Sudan. There have been at least 16 known Russian gold-smuggling flights out of Sudan since the Ukraine war began.
Russia has lent military backing to Sudan’s leadership to quash Sudan’s nascent pro-democracy civilian movement. U.S. officials affirm that Russia actively supported Sudan’s 2021 military coup. Documents show that both Hemedti and al-Burhan are backed by Russia.

To be completely honest I don’t think, at least at this moment in time, it is possible for someone with the views of the most progressive Americans to get any traction as a political candidate. The political establishment simply won’t allow for it. And so, of COURSE Kamala does not align with the views of many young progressive Americans. The presidential race has never been about “who had the perfect views and is a perfect person” or even “who agrees with me”… it’s about who is better out of the two. I don't know why this Genocide is more important than any other that's taking place, if feels a little political for me. April 15, 2023 - Present
Attacks in Darfur have escalated, and experts warn of ongoing ethnic cleansing and genocide.
Since April 15, 2023, half of Sudan’s population, or 25 million people, are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance and protection. Roughly 18 million people are facing acute food insecurity, with 8.5 million people acutely malnourished or struggling to survive and an additional 755,000 in famine conditions. It is predicted that in the coming months, 220,000 Sudanese children will die. Additionally, by October 2024 an estimated 2.5 million people could die from hunger-related causes, and at least 14 areas of the country are near famine, yet no famine declaration has been made. The healthcare system is near collapse and contagious diseases are spreading; meanwhile, over 70% of healthcare facilities in regions affected by the conflict are inoperable or closed.
Since April 2023, over 10 million people have been internally displaced and over 2 million refugees have fled to neighboring countries.
Fighting has been concentrated in the capital Khartoum. However, mass killings and displacement in Darfur have led to reports of ethnic cleansing.
The country faces complete economic and social collapse. Just under half of the population is unemployed and the Sudanese pound has lost at least 50% of its value. Internet and telephone access has experienced blackouts during which more than 30 million people had no access for over a month. At least 10,400 schools have been closed, leaving 19 million children without education. The United Nations has only received 17% of its requested $2.7 billion it has requested for Sudan. The UN calls the present situation in Sudan the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
      Devolution to Destruction
The current mass atrocities in Sudan are the inevitable result of several factors:
The West’s failure to realistically assess the goals of the military and paramilitary leaders in Sudan and to naively trust their promise of a democratic transition.
An inability to strengthen and support civil society.
A withdrawal of multiple peacekeeping forces, placing vulnerable people at increasing risk.
No effort to resolve local resource-based conflicts.
Limited accountability for previous violence in the region.
Inertia among regional mechanisms that could enhance peace, safety, and security, such as the African Union.

I wish I could snap my fingers and make things right, but progress is slow in America as mentioned in the vid.

I appreciate what you’ve done to try to bring the facts and to approach this thoughtfully.
    Below are my thoughts:
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, I understand the strategy of voting for her. I think many people are saying “she doesn’t have their vote” to use their vote as bargaining power because if she’s already got it you have nothing to bargain with.
I also think if we’re going to sit here and talk about fascism being on the rise and a pressing threat, then we have to acknowledge that nothing being done or said on that stage is a counter to that.
It’s a vote to stave off something that will continue to be there, and its threat will only be more legitimate if we’re only focused on reifying the institutions, including the military and policing, that fascism needs in order to take hold.
It’s not like Kamala is running on an anti fascism platform, so treating her like the solution to it comes across disingenuous. Which isn’t what Kirby has done here at all, but it is something I see a lot from people trying to persuade others to vote for her. And I don’t think it’s helpful.
The thing about an arms embargo is that it’s literally just asking the government to follow its own laws. It’s within our own laws that money and arms not be provided to a nation engaging in the kind of violences the Israeli colony is.
Our government is actively disregarding its own laws and the institutions it’s helped create. All because of the economic, military, and ideological gains it gets from the existence of this colony. That’s a dangerous precedent being set that only reaffirms fascism. So I think this is a big part of what drives people to feel like the choices don’t look different to them.
I’ve always voted and I’ll continue to vote but I just want us to be able to do two things at once. To not be so fixated on moralizing our decisions that we lack the ability to critically engage with the negative aspects of what our decisions mean and the results it has for people we likely will never know.
You can’t chastise people for not voting when voting is widely inaccessible, even without rhetoric and propaganda. The lack of covid policy literally makes going to vote dangerous for vulnerable people. Some people don’t have the ability to get proper documentation. So we not talking about any other "Genocides" just Gaza...ummm okay

I will never be able to understand the position of being anti-prosecutor. It is a position no more evil than a Defense attorney. Within the confines of a court system, a prosecutor and defense attorney are needed. Both sides can do great good and bad depending on how you want to view it. Defense attorneys can get an evil person scot-free. Or help protect an innocent. A prosecutor can get a sex offender sent to jail or attack and get an innocent locked up. At the end of the day, both jobs are equally good and terrible they are dependant on those within them. They are not the cause of the prison industrial complex but rather a byproduct and being specifically anti-prosecutor is rather rediculous and close-minded.

@@ventarmadness9692 I think our current court and criminal justice system are pretty terrible. Not the absolute worst, but it's obvious it's not great. It's normal for people not to trust government employees, especially the ones who are putting people in prison. There are plenty of people doing research on different ways to do the system, I don't think asking a random person on a TH-cam comment section about their new system is fair.
