Much appreciate the guidance / advice to the young people (and parents). A question about DoDMERB waivers. Is there a way to influence the pace and (hopefully) positive outcome of having a waiver granted? Should we pro-actively have a test conducted and then provide those results to DoDMERB?? In my son's case we aren't certain if he's fish "dislike" or "intolerant" or fully "allergic".
It probably wouldn't hurt to be proacative and get a allegy test, especially since it takes so long to get a doctors appointment. Just be prepared for DoDMERB to request a different set of test which may require you to go back to the doctors.
I’m expecting to get many strong leadership positions next year as a senior, but won’t have them when the applications open up this January (Summer Seminar Early Application). I want to submit my application early like you said but don’t have these positions yet. When would roughly be an early time to submit the USNA application to be ahead of the pack? Do these leadership positions force me to submit my application with the general group of people in August-September when I would get the leadership roles? Thanks for any help.
I suggest that you submit your application early for Summer Seminar, don't wait for the positions. Once you have clear line of sight to your upcoming positions update your Academy applications, you'll be able to do that through the end of the school year. I assume your school of choice is Navy, have you contacted a Blue and Gold Officer? If not do so asap, reach out to the admissions office. The B&G Office will guide you. Also, look at the USCGA AIM Program that's held over the summer. Even though USCGA maynot be a first choice the AIM program is excellent. The USNA Summer Seminar is a great program for a look at all that NAVY has to offer, but the USCGA AIM Program immerses you into a week of what it is like to be a plebe, it's more real to life than Navy. Thanks for watching my videos, I appreciate it.
