Lol. We're in pretty similar boats. I have that same body style, similar miles. Recently replaced my alt and belts and have that same whining. I joke and say it's my supercharger whistling. I think it's just the aftermarket alternators use a cheaper diode than the true AC Delco spec ones, and because of that we hear them more easily. Mine quiets down after a drive as well, which makes me believe that it's just the alternator not being under as much load at that point as the battery should be recharged by then.
i have a 2007 gmc sierra classic, just replaced the alternator today from advanced auto parts... 145amp one .. the housing and the red tag..etc.. all look the same... guess what? my whines as well.... go figure... did you ever figure out what the deal was?
Husband has a 07 3500 gas and his whines just idling til it warms up so annoying did alternator from oreilys twice didnt fix problem😢 idler pulley next I guess
Did u ever figure this out? My 1990 4.3 has the same exact whine and it driving me crazy... Buddy of mine says its the AIR smog pump but im hearing a definite squeak for the alternator...
How many miles have you driven on it since then ? I have the same issue on my tahoe. I took it to 2 shops, they all came up with different conclusions. One said it could be my waterpump, the other said its just how they rebuild the alternation that if it gets to a higher load it will make that sound.
I helped my neighbor put a long block, water pump, and total rebuild of front-end suspension on his 2007 Silverado, 5,3 L. He took a run to Alabama from Florida and to make a long story short, because basically, it was a truck refurbishing of love, and the new alternator from O'Reilly which I noticed none of the reviews have mentioned that the replacement alternator is a two tier charging alternator. (Look it up) However, his is making the same noise. We used the stethoscope, and it is indeed coming from the alternator. Hopefully, we'll have time tomorrow to dig into it deeper tomorrow. The alternator from O'Reilly is not an OEM replacement, and in no way I'm saying O'Reilly is at fault. Hopefully, an answer will soon be available.
Please tell me if you fixed the whine because I have replaced alternator and pulleys next step will be a new power steering pump. I just want to know if power steering pump fixed it so please help.
My Saturn Vue 2007 V6 has the same noise. When I used a stethoscope to hear the noise, the noise is across the alternator and tensioner pulley because the two parts are linked with metal parts, I guess. The problem could be the tension level. May be the automatic tensioner spring is weaker now.

I never did unfortunately. I just sort of put up with it now.

Probably 15000 maybe. Still whines but the truck runs alright besides that

After replacing power steering pump from Amazon most of the whining went away. I just need to replace the serpentine belt pulley

The whine is definitely coming from the alternator after all the tests I did last summer.
I have heard that alternator diodes can cause them to whine...
Now we dont know if it was a pulley or alternator...
