OMG, your so lucky to have seen this and meet them! I went to my pre-K down the street there & lived there Jonesboro ga in the 70s in Bonaza. I wish I'd been old enough to have seen them and meet them, . Yes the buildings are still there and the old train depo in the background. It looks to be painted white last time I drove by. I'm going to take some pictures. I always look and feel so sad for what happened to them and Ronnie . They played in Atlanta alot and we are not far but in the country. It made a great photo for them. God Bless them XO thanks for sharing your story. They are so special to me. The new movie about the band is great too,

Back in 1976, there were no seat assignments in Kansas City's Municipal Hall, first come first served. You would stand in a huge herd of people, then buy your ticket, and everyone runs towards the stage. I was a budding musician, and I and my friends always ran to the sound board instead. I've lost track of how many concerts I've been, but lots. But this is the ONLY concert that I ever STOOD on the seats, going crazy. in awe of this guy who just kept going and going and going. It had to go 20 minutes. Unbelievable. I remember like it was yesterday. I'm 66 now, and yes, we did get to see all the great bands. I miss it bad

When my son had been taking guitar lessons for about 5 years, I told him I would give him $100.00 if he could learn this solo. 3 months later he did a darn good job. He remarked that there were 3 guitarists playing & he did the best he could. I was impressed that a 16 year old could do that!

ridged05, at only 37. I saw Skynyrd in 1987, when they first got back on the road, ten years after the tragedy. All of the surviving band members were there. Allen didn’t play, but his dad brought him out in a wheelchair, and he spoke to the crowd. Back then, when they played Free Bird, Johnny Van Zant didn’t attempt to sing it. The band played, they hung Ronnie’s hat on the microphone and showed a video of Ronnie singing. It was very emotional. I saw them in September, too.

This is the most requested son of all time at bars, in concerts, everywhere imaginable. The guitar solo at the end was written by Allen Collins and played by him the same exact way every single time. The other guitarists are, of course, backing him up, but this was very much Allen’s song, with Ronnie writing the lyrics of course. This song is a staple and a legend. Lynyrd Skynyrd is (the original) is my favorite band of all time. Thanks for reacting to it.
