Just because both are motorcycles with V-twin doesn't mean the should race together. Like you wouldnt put a Ducati sport bike against a Top Fuel Harley in a quarter mile. Duc has a class they race in, totally different classes styles of Cycles. Face the facts these bikes are turning some amazing speeds and handling for what they are. I personally love it and say bring even more races on!
You do understand this is a different class of racing. Same as they don't race 600cc with 1000cc. They don't race LeMans vehicles with NASCAR vehicles. Why they don't race sprint cars with F1. If you weren't aware, since they introduced the King of Baggers into MotoAmerica, viewership and attendance went through the roof. Many people who ride Harleys also ride or did ride sportbikes at one time. The riders on these baggers started out and still do race sportbikes.
Hope to make it this weekend. I think it would be a hoot to see them add an adventure touring bike class then they could bring in many manufactures to the track at one time. Can you imagine BMW GS, HD Pan America, Triumph Tiger, Ducati Multistrada, KTM 1290, Honda African Twin, Suzuki Vstrom racing.

I like many others started on sport bikes and had fun but gravitate towards cruisers or adventure bikes. Far more comfortable and can ride longer distances with them. It's far more entertaining to attend MotoAmerica now watching all the different classes including the baggers. It would be wild if we started seeing baggers and adventure bikes racing the Isle of Man TT.

These aren't really "baggers" per say. They have farings, a minimum 600lb weight requirement and they have to have bags. It's a loose connection much like NASCAR cars resemble real cars. From the outside maybe, underneath it's a whole different thing.
Harley had nothing to do with this being started. Matter of fact, Harley started to support this team pretty late compared to everyone else, only after they found out Indian was going to give full factory support to the two Indian bikes.
Indian won many races last year and took a win this year at Daytona on the last lap right before the finish. It was a good race right to the end, you ought to go check it out.
